Mineral makeup - any good?

The Avon one though cheap is not very good. This one has got talc in it even though it calls itself mineral. Found it to be a bit cakey and drying.0

I've wondered about mineral make up for a long time now after watching the sheer cover infomercials! I received my Lily Lolo samples on 2nd feb and have barely scratched the surface, think they'll last me 3 months, thats great! Anyway, I think i've decided on my skin tone match, but I love them, its nice that at the end of the day my face only feels like it has moisturiser on it rather than feeling dry. My make up stays on all day long, this is a novelty in itself! I also think that its helping to clear away and minimise pores and any blackheads too, so if nothing else i'm too scared to go back to other foundations incase they make me breakout. Shame I've only just bought a new benefit foundation, but nevermind.

I use Laura Mercier which I really like. I haven't tried any other brands tho. Its fairly expensive (£35 (also 35 in dollars in you are going to the US!)), but they do a primer and nice brushes too. I had a free make over at the local department store and went away and thought about it for while and went back and got some. I use a light dusting of the stuff and build up if I need to. I'm lucky that i have really good skin and don't need much.. but I prefer this to creams and I like the factor 15 aspect too. I might try some free lily lolo sample just for comparison.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190

I have used several brands including Laura Mercier, Sheer Cover and Bare Escentials and find them to be very similar but for preference I would buy the Lara Mercier in Rich Vanilla. The brush is far more important than the brand of make up.0

I haven't tried Laura Mercier but have tried bare escentuals, everyday minerals and a few others and lily lolo has been the best I have tried. I find it more natural than bare escentuals, more matt (although u can add sparkle with a finishing powder). But its nice to have that option as I dont really like looking glittery when im at work!
Will be interesting to hear your comparison on laura mercier though as I have not tried that one....so report back and let us know how you get on!

Hi, not tried the ones mentioned but have tried the L'oreal version. It was rubbish on me. Felt a bit like mud and looked all sticky & thick.0

I am a fan of elemental beautymineral makeup after winning some from our comp section:
http://www.elementalbeauty.co.uk/
The lady there is called nicola & she really went out of her way to help me choose the right blend/colour for me.
I have acne/v.sensitive skin & this does'nt irritate me at all!-since i started using this & boots botanicals, not had a breakout since!!!!
HTHNo one said it was gonna be easy!0 -
Hi - another endorsement from me for Lily Lolo - I have been using it since Nov 2005. I have combination skin and use the flawless matte followed by the foundation. I think they are great and very reasonable. I find one pot of the foundation lasts me about 6 months and the matte powder longer because I don't use so much. And they don't rip you off on postage :j I also still have some of their eyeshadow samples which I have been using for about a year - not every day mind you, just when I go out. But it just shows how long the stuff lasts. Think an eyeshadow pot would last a lifetime!0

I have to agree I now use elemental beauty. I brought about 6 samples ( which she packaged with personal touches and thought :T )
None really matched my skin tone and none in her range of colours, so I emailed Nicola ask for any tips.
She responded quickly and as with 'Shays Mum' went above and beyond to provide me with a match sending me several samples at no extra cost. I wish all my dealings were as good as an experience.....................
Oh and the foundation is brilliant, very natural looking no itching fantastic!!!!:j:j:j Wooooo Hooooo :j:j:j0
