Sheer Cover

Hi
Has anyone tried Sheer Make up from the Guthy-Renker infomercials?
It looks pretty good but I am v wary of these infomercials.
Is it actually any good? Is the home delivery tie in worth it? If so what do you get in the 90 day pack?
Has anyone had problems cancelling?
Thanks all!

Hello wookie_woo
I'll move your thread to the 'Health & Beauty' board.

I'm not sure about Sheer Cover, but there are lots of mineral make ups available. We use them in the salon, and they do take quite a bit of getting used to, but the results are great. A company called Lily Lolo make excellent quality mineral make up, from foundation to eyeshadows, and they do samples of foundation for only 99p, which last about a week. Bargain0

Loreal make a True Match mineral powder and the girls in the really big Boots stores will always give you a make over using the powder if you ask. Much cheaper than sheer cover.0

I found the L'oreal true match heavy both in coverage and appearance. I've not used Lily lilo but have used Bare Escentuals for several years. The products last ages - you don't need to wear a lot. The main thing is you do need really good brushes to apply it and also build the colour up - it takes several minutes before you really get to see how it looks and it's easy to apply more too soon and end up looking like a clown! There was another thread about mineral make up on here not so long ago so might be worth doing a search for it and having a read thru?0

Personally I'd recommend staying away from the 'high street' make up brands like L'oreal for mineral make up. Check out the ingredients list - not much different to their non mineral foundations! I agree with chickalittle, Bare Escentuals are great, as is Jane Iredale. The reason I went with Lily Lolo is because you can try before you buy so to speak, to make doubly sure that the shade you choose in full size is perfect for you.0

Thanks Nicifer. I was looking at the Sheer Cover last night on TV and did some searches this morning. Instead I have now ordered several samples from Lily Lolo. Can't wait to get them now!0

I had actually orderd the starter kit when I posted originally as I was having a little post ordering anxiety!
However I am SO pleased with the Sheer Cover products!
I was pretty worried about ordering from an infomercial but the effect, on my skin at least, is great.
It has fab coverage but doesn't look too heavy. I even went to the gym direct from work and it was still in place after a workout!
Yes I know I am sounding like one of those gushing women on the commercials but being ridiculously pale any blemishes show up like beacons. So I have spent years either walking around with sore red skin or caked in foundation that then rubs off showing a red bit!
Also the cleaner and moisturiser you get with the kit really suits my skin as it now looks better than it did even if I don't have makeup on.
I haven't received my 90 day supply yet, just the starter kit so we will see how much they actually supply.0 -
I think that Sheer Cover is a genuine mineral makeup range but their brushes look too cheap - I agree with chickalittle, good brushes are a must, particularly for the foundation. You can get a high quality "kabuki" brush from eBay cheaper than from the various MMU (mineral makeup) websites but I can't see the one I'd recommend at the mo. Bare Escentuals is not the very best/softest kabuki but it's very OK for starters.
Bare Escentuals foundation powder gives great coverage with a slightly metallic sheen that (probably) you either love or hate - and it takes quite a lot of "buffing" (quickly and easily done with your kabuki), where many other brands do not require that, and buffing can help cause a prickly sensation on the skin, combined with some unknown ingredient that you are sensitive to.
It's very easy to get addicted to trying out all the different brands/formulas, especially those available from across the pond, where there are numerous forums for discussion/advice.
I could go on for hours :T and frequently do

I use a kit that comes from Southern Magnolia Minerals which i get from ebay (toddnbarb) they are really inexpensive and great coverage but they also come with a fantastic kabuki brush.
i'm a real mineral makeup convert and wouldnt go back to anything else!0
