Mineral makeup - any good?
Comments
-
I am naturally quite pale and always use self tan to brighten my appearance  but as I am pregnant I would like to get out of the habit as I don't think I'm going to have much time to tan myself in a few months so I thought I'd like to be pale but not pasty  more of a sophie ellis bextor look... Am a bit stuck though cos I just can't achieve it!!!!
What products should I be using? Women back in the 50's used to look so pale and glam so what was their secret? (unfortunatley my nan's are no longer with us so I can't askk them!)
Thanks in advance0 -
I would go for a mineral make up like Bare Escentuals etc. You can build up the base as much as you need and add Mineral Veil over the top and you should be able to get flawless (but remember a lot of shots of SEB will be airbrushed and there is a reason stars a bit worried about HD TV, it will show them up as not being so perfect after all). The other advantage of BE makeup is that as it is only minerals in the makeup and no waxes etc if after you have the baby you are a bit more slapdash about taking off your makeup at night it doesn't matter too much as it doesn't clog the skin. Their concealer is the best I have ever used and I have very pale skin and dark circles under my eyes I jsut can't get rid of. It might look a bit pricey but it lasts FOREVER as you need a tiny amount and you can get other mineral makeup brands that might be a bit cheaper. Getting the right colour is less problematic too as they are very forgiving.
Congratulations by the way0 -
Hiya,
Many thanks for that (and for the congrats) I shall have a shop around for it...
It has always baffled me as to how women from the 50's look so pale and glam with their hair immaculate especially as there weren't really any 'effects' or half as many products as we have now days!!!0 -
I just put this on another thread:
Yes, mineral make up is what you want. Ebay is the place to look BUT you must buy a proper brush to put it on with. It is called a kabuki brush. If you want to see how to apply it there are a few videos on you tube.
Also in the 50s they used a make up called pan stick which was almost like putting zinc and castor oil on! And rouge.0 -
Have been watching the infomertials with curiosity. Can anyone tell me is mineral powder make up any good for someone with oily skin?0

Hi I'm new to mineral make up but have been really pleased with the results I've had so far. I've been using mineral make up from Lilylolo. They will send you some cheap sample jars if you're not sure what you want or you want to experiment. They also give you some info on their web site about different skin needs. Sorry I can't comment on mineral make up and oily skin but I'm sure someone will be along with a similar skin type. I think their site is worth looking at though as it helped me choose when I didn't have a clue.0

Do you read 'cosmetics cop'? Paula has her own cosmetics line now, but she didn't used to, and her books 'don't go to the cosmetics counter without me' (she's a beauty journalist) where what helped wean me off all the expensive stuff LOL... anyway, if you get her product reviews (which are really good anyway) you get a free report all about mineral makeup.

I have to say that I was really disappointed with them, lots of faffing, and I only ever got quite a chalky look that really emphasised my pores... but i know that everyone is different.
good luck!0 -
I've got a quite greasy middle strip, with big pores and I found the powder one really good (is it L'Oreal ?) because you can just put it exactly where you want it (for me in the centre of my face, shading off at edges of cheeks) and it doesn't have a thick claggy look, but I did find getting the colour right very difficult. At present I love it !0

Hi guys,
Need a quick help from you. I've ordered a sheer cover about a month and half ago and the delivery didn't arrive at all. I forgot to save the number from the tele sale. Could any of you please give me the number so that I can call?
Many thanks!

It's freephone 0800 320 575 (open 9am - 5pm , mon - fri)
I strongly advise using ebay for Sheer Cove products though, it's exactly the same but just cheaper0
