Mineral makeup - any good?

I use Lily Lilo stuff http://www.lilylolo.co.uk/home.php
which i've found to be excellent. They do small sample pots of foundation for 99p and blusher for 49p.
i hadn't heard of this site. i've just spent almost a tenner there on foundation, blusher and eyeshadow samples. it'll be good to try out colours for 29p each instead of wasting money on full priced items only to find they look awful on me!
so, thanks!0 -
I have been using http://www.everydayminerals.com/ they are really good you can order a free sample pack contains 3 foundations, 1 blusher, 1 concealer, colours of your choice you have to pay p&p can't remember how much.
But you can order a free sample kit with every order you place so basically it covers your postage.
I order different shades which you can mix together and create your own shades as well.
I now use their eyeshadows aswell.
At first it takes a bit of getting used to using it, but once you get the knack it gives a great finish, use little and build up.
I would never go back to liquid make up.0 -
Mineral make up does not suit all skin types unfortunately and sometimes accentuates open posres and marks. It sometimes can be difficult getting a colour match and the l'oreal ones have a very limited colour range.I am going to try the lara mericer new one tomorrow with a free makeover at space nk ( anyone get get a free makeover there if you phone and ask )so I will report back if its any good. I have tried jane iredale ( very hard to get colour match ), everyday minerals and liliy lou.The best was lily lou so far but I still didnt find it was great .Its sometimes makes me itch if I apply it with the brush but I have found a flocked sponge was better and took the itchness away. I have loads of samples of the liliy lou colurs if anyone wants some for free.
HERE is a link to application tips & discussions from several people who tried it .0 -
i havent found any cheaper than the Southern Magnolia minerals i mentioned above. they are really cheap and if it doesnt match up they will send you free minerals until it does. there is no bismuth in their products which is what is in some mineral makeup that makes people itch,

Id be very careful using bare escentuals if you have sensitive skin, I spent a fortune on it and for the first app thought it was great! Second time I used it skin broke out in nasty hives that went mad with itch, since found lots of internet forums with unfortunate peeps like me who it didnt react well with! The reason is because it contains bismuth oxide which can be quite abrasive to a sensitive skin. So I recommend that you try with caution if you have very dry and/or sensitive skin.0

This is what I've been using for 6 months now, depending on the rate the sample pack costs about £2.40 and it lasts ages!
Once you have a great brush it's so easy, and I seem to have better skin - less oily, less dry in areas, and less spots. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Thanks Lou
Not an expert by any means - been using Bare Escentuals for several years. I have very sensitive skin and BE doesn't irritate. Trick is not to use too much.
The L'oreal one has got talc in, which makes it cake and not too good for sensitive skins (but I guess that's why it's pretty cheap).
My mum has been using Lily Lolo and likes it - I think it's more matt than BE and I wanna keep my youthful gleam a bit longer
Using decent brushes is vital - anything synthetic won't 'grab' the powder and apply it properly to skin. Wash and condition them regularly and they'll come up like new.
Have fun:D:D:D:D:D

i just ordered some samples from http://www.meowcosmetics.com/
they have a very good range of foundation shades which contain no bismuth (the stuff that makes your skin itch). at the moment they are doing a special postage rate of $5.95 if you order 15 or more samples. i ordered 15 samples and the total cost, including p&p came to £10.50
i love the kitschy names of their products!
i've no idea what they're like though, i'll let you know.0 -
