Just wondered if any of you have some tips for covering or stopping redness coming through. I am applying the mineral foundation but do have a bit of redness under my cheeks near my nose. Is there anything I can get for this.

    Thanks

You can get a concealer to put under the foundation but from other threads the advice seems to be to dab on a bit of powder with a finger on the trouble spots before applying the foundation in the usual way.

    Is it worth it?

I have combination skin and red patches on my cheeks. I currently use an oil free liquid foundation, but find it doesnt quite cover the redness. Ive read a lot of good reviews about mineral make up and wanted to now whether its worth it?

Also which brand is the best? Sheer cover or Bare essentials? IS there something else?

    Thanks

    Worth every penny,

I use L'oreal True Cover but there are loads and loads out there.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I have oily skin and pinkish cheeks and I LOVE Maybellene Mineral Powder - I do have to use concealer beforehand round my eyes because theyre very dark but its fantastic and stays on all day, no other foundation Ive ever used has been this good, it looks flawless and blends on the neck really well! Even when I have to re-powder during the day because of my greasy skin it still looks great! I loooooove it! Deffinately recommend :D x

I actually bought the bare escentuals yesterday after it was recommended by a friend. I have dry skin with red cheeks. So i went into selfridges and got the girl to put some on me, and it looked really good. This morning i did it myself and i found it really easy to apply and the coverage is great, and it doesn't make my skin look flaky and my red cheeks arn't red anymore. Wish i had bought it ages ago as its brilliant.
However it is quiet dear £45.00 for the starter set.

    £45!? Ouch!!
  • I use the mineral foundation from www.eyeslipsface.co.uk

I find it gives great coverage and at £3.50 cant really go wrong!

Try some samples first if you can - elementalbeauty.co.uk and lilylolo.co.uk both do samples in different shades. I'm just waiting for the lily lolo to be delivered any day now. There's a thread here on the board all about mineral make up and I'm really excited to try elemental and lily lolo.
I tried Jane Iredale several years ago but it was too pricey, and I tried Bare Escentuals but my skin was very shiny with it and again, I thought it was too expensive.
BE can look very shiny if you get oily during the day. If you want to try that, I'd suggest getting it from QVC (I assume they still sell it) because then you can try it out for up to 30 days and return if you don't like it. That way all you've lost is the cost of postage.

Whatever you order, once it's arrived check the thread here for application advice. If you use too much, or the wrong shade, it's going to look hideous. Well that's my experience anyway!!

But you don't need the kit... you can start with just the foundation (£18-22 I think) and any kabuki brush...

I use Souther Magnolia minerals from USA and that is nice and currently I have samples from everyday minerals... samples are $5 and they send you 4 (or 5?) shades, enough to last you week each and you can then really match the correct one. And each is different type. So far I found I like the one with matte finish and the glow finish, but the intensive finish is just far too shiny..

I am also thinking about going to a shop to get Bare Escentuals applied to compare it. Unfortunately they don't do samples, that is a bit of a bother.

mineral powder contains mica which can trigger breakouts in acne-prone skin. Just a warning.

Personally, I go around all the stores and get samples every time I need a new cosmetic product. Never buy before trying, even if it comes highly recommended, it may not suit your skin.

If take-away samples are not available ask for a tester and leave in on your skin for the rest of the day before buying. This will give you an idea of longevity and whether it suits your skin type.
