Fay, read thru the thread (if you have time... goes on a bit) - you will find invaluable information and probably learn that the Avon one is not pure minerals....

You will find lots of advice re applying MMu etc. Less is more - that is the secret!! And, once you have the knack, takes seconds to apply!

I did read alot of your posts Jeannie, I was interested to read about the healing foundation.

I'm 36 and have a face I describe as 'peppered' with blackheads and get a few pustular spots per month, which leave red scars that take months to fade. All this leaves me with pale/red uneven skin.

So I'm giving the healing foundation a go, but TBH even if it doesn't help improve my skin up I think I'll stick with it (so long as it doesn't get worse) as I love the cover and the website, packageing and presentation is so beutiful! Nicola at Elemental Beauty is very helpful and replies very promptly to emails.

I'm also (as a result of this forum) trying the oil cleansing method and so far I'm very pleased with the results!

    So thank you Jeannie!
Have you tried the comfrey at night time? I find it heals and calms my skin. My nieces and son and me and a few of us, have found over the last couple of years that even when a blasted spot has gone, we are left with a red mark - which never ever seems to go! Don't have any answer to that - but how annoying! Tho did find the sun in cyprus last year did kinda blend my skin to a nice brown colour...... red marks probably still there but you didn't notice them!

I am trying to find a matte powder mineral make up, all seem to have a sheen which I'm not keen on, I would prefer to buy from your usual high street chemists if possible but am quite happy to buy online as well, oh, just to make it a bit harder I also like a full coverage without having to layer too much on, any suggestions would be great - thank you.

  • I've recently read "The Thrift Book" by India Knight and in it she recommends the following mineral makeup:

    Jane Iredale
    Bare Escentuals
    i.d.bare minerals

I haven't tried them myself but she said something about these being better than most. I do intend to try them at some point, does anyone know if these are any good?

Sorry I can't be more specific, I've returned the book to the library.
I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.

Id Bare minerals and Bare escentuals are both one and the same - and theres a shine to them

Have you tried Elemental Beauty?http://www.elementalbeauty.co.uk/ - No shine on the healing foundation, not sure about the normal

Go look at the Mineral Make up thread - loads of companies mentioned and loads of comments about if they are shine free or not

Thank you both for the replies, I have started to wade through the mmu thread and hopefully will find something I like - Elemental looks good, I might give them a try if I cant find anything I can buy straight away.

Tbh a lot of us keep away from the shop brands as a lot of them use talc which is a cheap filler, and it tends to sit in creases and also can cause "ghosting"

EB samples are great. Cheap and will be with you day after order usually. But its not for everyone so do read through the thread and see whats out there

Bare escentuals are great for coverage and are pretty good for your skin! You can put the normal powder on, and then put Mineral Veil on top to remove any shine...xXx
