"Mineral Veil" is a misleading name. It should be "Veil for Minerals" because it is a finishing powder. Different brands containing a different main ingredient which is not minerals  Usually it is cornstarch (American term for cornflour) as with BE's version, or rice powder, maybe other stuff - I don't know everything and have not kept in touch with developments because I've got so much to use up and I've got to stop spending on something. I absolutely hate it when you're all using new stuff but I've got to grow upBack to business...
Finishing powders are intended to minimise the look of pores and fine lines, MV reduces the metallic sheen of BE foundation which many do not like. They can also, as some have indicated, be used as an undercoat helping to give a better "work surface". However, if it's purity you're concerned about, then putting any of the 'veil' recipes directly on your skin is going to defeat the object of mineral foundation, because cornstarch etc can support bacteria, minerals don't - we are told.

All of you that are new to this thread - Veronarona can advise on so much. I have learnt so much from her. My skin was an awful mess - just a year ago I believe - and I changed to mineral make up. It took time etc. but thanks to everyone on here, Suki had tons of info, I have nearly normal skin now!
It wasn't just the mineral make up - it was finding what was right for me and avoiding any product that wasn't pure - again thanks to Veronarona, I found products (EB) that were natural and healing. I like the sound of the mineral veil, but as it isn't pure, I will avoid it as I have very, very sensitive stupid skin...
This site has been my saviour! I can nearly look in the mirror now without shuddering - my next 'cure' would be a plastic surgeon - to make me look younger and probably as if I am in a wind tunnel, as that seems to be the face lift look...
Edit:
PS - It helps to have a sister who doesn't have sensitive skin, to pass on all your 'bad' buys to!Genie

I meant to say, Hethmar, it's not complicated once you sort out what's right for you. Don't know if you've managed to read the whole thread, but MMU (mineral makeup) foundation is puttable-on without a mirror, it's totally fool-proof (otherwise I wouldn't be using it
)

hi - just spotted this thread and wondered what the best mineral make up is for a newbie to makeup, ie not too difficult to apply etc. I'm a bit of a slick of lipgloss girl - but apart from that don't really wear make up!
I'm 37, very fair skinned with dark hair (Irish origins) and don't like to feel "made up"
My skin is not bad (a few fine lines round the eyes and tendency towards blackheads and visible pores - pesky) also my skin gets oily quickly esp. around forehead and nose - any advice on suitable products would be great.
I saw they had some in the Avon book the other day but thought I'd check with you experts first.:T0 -
I have read through this thread with interest. I would like to say something about the Body Shop Nature's Mineral Make-up, as it is completely natural mineral make up and covers really really well and feels fantastic!
The brush they sell is also really lovely and lasts a long time.
A tip for getting more from your make-up is to tip it upside down (with the lid on) shake it, then turn right way up, take the lid off and then use the product from the lid, working it into your brush well then using circular motions to apply it to your skin.
I hope this helps some of you.Leopardlady

jostening - re the pores/blackheads - do you have a cleanse, tone and moisturise routine? You need to get your skin in good condition - thats more important than the makeup over it.
Have a facial at a beauty salon and then just get yourself a routine to keep your skin good.0 -

Jostenning - not the Avon, I believe it's a bit heavy and there are not enough colours. Very fair-skinned ladies seem to be more likely to take time to find a good match, from what I've read over the years. As the Elemental Beauty is getting such good reviews from users here, why not go for samples of that? Or indeed, the Body Shop one, where you can actually look at and possibly try it out, and the perfect brush is right there, so we're told

Hi hethmar - erm, I do have a "routine" but sometimes slips at night when I just want to go to bedI've got all the Clarins stuff so I will try to make more of an effort. Might treat myself to a facial now you mention it. :T
