Mineral makeup - any good?

I've 'PM'd' Veronarona - she is pretty good on the purities of minerals and will be able to advise on the talc issue.
She may not want to repeat herself - but I don't have time to do the research and find her previous posts. SorryGenie

I dont think that talc being "bad" is the problem, its just that its a cheap filler and for us older ladies it has a tendencies to settle in lines and for those who have oily skin it can cause caking and cracking0

I am a bit scared to try this. I don't wear much make up at all but would like something light to cover up my reddish nose etc. Thing is, the only mineral thing that I have used is sun cream. I bought face and body ones from the body shop. They were a nightmare. I couldn't get them to wash off. I literally had to sit and scrape it off my skin. My face went all blocked up and blotchy on my hols in Barcelona.0

and I say exactly what Suki says.
As for greyhoundcrazy's concerns - I second Jeannie, and I've a red nose and broken veins too (why don't I meet fellow sufferers in real life? it's only on forums I don't feel a freak  ) I couldn't wear any liquid/cream foundation, it went like crazy paving and/or you could see red patches thru it, and it melted off my nose & forehead.
If I ever run out of all my full sizes and samples, I intend to try what Jeannie's got, the one with urea in it

Well, for better or for worse I've bought the Maybelline. I did check and it says it contains pure minerals and no talc. Comes with one of those fancy brushes too!0

Do let us know how you get on with the Maybelline - I hope you like it

Hey Greyhoundcrazy,
I don't think you have to worry about the same happening with make-up. In a way of taking it off it's the same just like with any other make-up - I use wet tissues (I like Garnier) and get it off easily.
As for worrying about a price, Elemental Beauty samples cost some 67p (incl VAT) and Lilylolo's samples are 99p.0 -
I hope this link to Paula Begoun's site works - it's an article about mineral makeup, so very useful for people here searching for the the best scientific info (ie not sales patter) on this type of cosmetic.

...and a recommendation from the very same site which preserved Paula's tirade:
Sheer Cover is a mineral makeup line on TV that is touted to be 100% pure minerals, feels lightweight and looks totally natural.
Another advantage is that it contains NO preservatives, chemical dyes, fragrance, silicones, or talc. Check it out, it's a full line of cosmetics. Their website offers tips and tricks on the best way to apply the makeup.
I didn't think Sheer Cover was "100% pure minerals" , and note the lack of silicones (Paula likes silicones) and talc being "another advantage".
No wonder there's so much confusion and misunderstanding. I go by the fact that I can't wear wet foundations (except when occasionally I mix minerals with aloe vera gel or moisturiser, or when I have a hot flush whilst applying and the powder mixes with the sweat on my poor little face), that minerals cover my flaws yet look quite natural, and that after wearing minerals my skin is often noticeably better the next day.
