Mineral makeup - any good?

You don't need retractable brushes.
I carry my powders in a set of small stacking pots from Boots (set of 5) and just have small brushes that I take with me.
Try tesco though - my retractable brush that i use for concealer (it's meant for lips) came from there and is great.0 -
I always thought of primer as a silicone filler - something that smoothed over cracks and filled the larger pores so make up - be it mineral or liquid - didnt sit in them therefore giving a smoother more polished finish?
I know the primer I tried way back when had that effect and the gellar one is called Spackle which is a term for a paste thats used to fill small holes when decorating0 -

Surely the way minerals work is by coming into contact with the skin and sinking into it, so does a primer not stop them "settling" properly? I'm not making any criticism of anybody, I'd just like to understand better.
After seeing it on Harryharp's thread, I have bought some Lanacane anti-chafing gel. Said to be equal to the Smashbox primer (that I did plan to buy but haven't done so!). Certainly think it aids a good smooth finish and will use it on occasion but won't be bothered on a work day.0 -

Do you mean the Gellar one or the one from the decorator shop?0 -
the gellar one
i'm off to bed - this skin doesn't stay young on it's own, and i'm up at 6am tomorrow :eek:0 -
Hi Unity, it's good to hear from you. I pop in and out of the boards, depending on mood and the time I've got
I have ordered the EB dewy finishing powder sample and the matte which might be the better one for me from what you say - cheers. A sheen is probably great for going out in the evening but during the day the matte is more flattering - my face can get quite shiny
I was surprised how reasonable the prices are and can alway try some others if I haven't got it right this time.
Am trying to find some 'retractable' make up brushes, which will be better for travel and to keep the powders from leaking into my bag!
I'm sure your skin looks lovely, testimony to good skin care routine and the right products. It is possible to have all this without spending a fortune. All the shared info on here helps a lot :T
Hi again,
Hopefully I can help you out with the retractable brush situation - try http://www.crownbrush.co.uk/mineral1.html
The above link should take you direct to the mineral brushes page where you'll see a retractable brush (top right of the page) is £5.25. They also do those brushes that you can fill with minerals, although I think they could be a bit messy. Funnily enough their Kabuki's are in a different section. The only thing I could fault them on is their postage costs - last time I looked they were over £4, so probably not a good deal if you only want one item.
I was first introduced to this company by Angel81 - on the 'Fight Back Against Over-priced Cosmetics' thread, but this was for ordinary make-up brushes: eye-shadow, eye-liner, lip brushes etc. which are very cheap if you get them from the 'Studio' section. She's a professional make-up artist, so I was happy to follow her advice and very pleased with what I got. They are a damn sight cheaper than Mac or Ruby and Millie, but just as good quality.
Hope this helps.;)Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever
