Mineral makeup - any good?

Waxxy has just discovered an extra pot of foundation she'd stashed away. I won't be needing any more for about 3.5 years!!! :rotfl:
The kit I got has the following:
2g medium foundation
2g medium beige foundation
2g mineral veil
2g warmth
bottle of skin rev-er upper
full coverage kabuki brush
maximum coverage concealer brush
flawless face brush
and a DVD to tell you how to use it all.
The cost is £45 but I had a 10% off code, plus quidco. And it arrived 18 hours after I ordered it.
I paid about £30 for the same kit in San Fran, but it costs quite a lot to get there. I'm a happy bunny. I don't use the skin rev-er upper, so will sell that (and probably the DVD unless anyone from here wants it).
I do tend to buy in bulk (I got 6 bottles of facewash, 6 bottles of hand wash and 6 bottles of hand cream at Molton Brown at Bicester yesterday!!!! :rotfl:) so have a high outlay a few times a year (mascara, contact lenses, BE, etc).

Just a quick note to our friends in the North - specifically the North East, I got an e-mail from Seaham Hall Spa http://www.seaham-hall.co.uk/ recently saying that they are now stocking Bare Escentuals Mineral Make-up.
I don't know what their prices are like, but they may be competitive and might save the postage for those close enough to pop in.
I was lucky enough to have a spa day there, courtesy of my children for one of those big and unmentionable birthdays:eek: and though I am far too [strike]mean[/strike] money savingto spend that sort of cash on myself, it was a wonderful surprise and a very relaxing day.

From what others have posted here, I (as a complete newbie to minerals) am drawn towards Elemental Beauty. I hope one of the experienced users can tell me what shades I should order.
I'm 30, with very fair pink-toned skin which has a tendency towards redness and shine. I also suffer from mild to moderate acne, mainly around my mouth and chin, though my skin's not too bad at the moment. I also have always had dark circles under my eyes, and use a brightening concealer there.
What would you suggest I order in the way of:
1) foundation (am thinking the Healing one in English Rose is probably the way to go, but as I'll start by ordering samples, I may try Nude as well)
2) concealer (will I be better with Fairly Light, or Bright Eyes? Bearing in mind I need to conceal blemishes AND dark circles. Plus the green one for redness?)
3) finishing powder (the matte one, probably, or should I go for the dewy one given my relative youth - will the dewy one control shine anyway? And has anybody found it a problem that they don't come in different shades?)
4) brushes (a kabuki for the foundation and powder (or do I need separate types of brush?), plus something to put the concealer on with)
Any thoughts on my initial inclinations?Operation Get in Shape

I've recently tried EB for the first time, and also have fair skin. I found the nude foundation a bit yellowish personally so have now ordered an english rose sample- i'd say it's worth trying though as samples are so cheap and you can always mix.
i also found the fairly light concealer to be a bit yellow, gave good coverage though, not tried bright eyes
i'd definitely recommend the dewy finishing powder, i was worried it might be a bit dark but decided to try a sample anyway. really found it made my skin look really radiant and healthy- but not at all shiny- and really 'finished' off my look- even gave some extra coverage, minimising the look of imperfections. Now ordered the big size.
i think a kabuki will work for both foundation and powder but i'm yet to invest in one, just been using a blusher brush. really like the look of the lily lolo one but its quite pricey so not sure, interested to hear others' opinions. personally i don't bother with a concealer brush, i do have one but find it quite fiddly to apply with- prefer to just use my (clean) fingers!!0 -
I would try samples in rose, honey, bunny and kitten - they are only a few pennies its worth ordering a few.As for concealer I wouldnt bother untill you have found the foundation colour, then email for advice. I have both the matt and dewy finishing powder and I also use mineral veil from Bare Escentuals - all are good but I like the BE mineral veil as a blotting topper upper iyswim.
brushes, I got the foundation brush(which i love) the blusher brush and the concealer brush. The blusher brush is the one I use less as I prefer to use my big dusting brush and prefer to use a bronzer but the concealer brush is great - I use it to dab on more foundation on problem areas0 -
Well........
I recommend calling Nicola at EB! She is brill. I emailed her and she sorted me out spot on.
Kabuki brush from EB is nice - but I am still in love with their 'little pink brush' which is not that little - and has a longer handle than the kabuki's and I find easier to use. I'd go for both if you can afford it.
I've had terrible skin.. and choose to their healing foundation. i've not really used the concealer.
I'm more blase now when I apply it and (think Suki suggested it or mentioned it) I often just brush it all over when I am not even looking.... When I first used it, I put far too much on.
I wouldn't put the wet gungy type of foundation near my skin now!!!
Which I had found this years ago!!Genie

I think Genie means the wee pink kabuki brush. I have that type of brush from BE and its great for bad skin days. You really will get coverage with that brush, sometimes too much I think. I also get great coverage from the face brush from EB (being phased out). Its not the best quality brush, I do get the odd broken hair from it , but it does a great job. I would say i use the kabuki more in the winter then I do the summer and I use it more with BE minerals then I do EB0
