Mineral makeup - any good?
Comments
-
I have skin which isn't really dry or oily, and I rarely or never get spots. But I do have an uneven skin tone and hate going without foundation as I don't feel groomed enough.
I tried the minerals one (it was a high st one - maybe Maybelline?) but it just dried out my skin so much. I had to use my boyfriend's nivea man moisteriser as it is quite greasy! I think it may be of more use for "problem" skin, rather than what I would describe as "normal" skin.
I did love the look it gave though, as I normally dust powder over my normal foundation, and it lasted all day.
All of them will send out small samples that you can try - so that you can find the right tone too as well as one that suits you. Brushes are important too.
I know Elemental Beauty, Nicola, is very good and helpful and will send out samples - their website is v good too. Lily Lolo (which didn't suit me but did suit my sister) also send out samples.
I am also preferring the little pink brush from EB at the moment rather than the Kabuki. But then, I am a little weird...:DGenie

Well maybe if you took everyone elses orders?0 -

Don't want to burst your bubble, but have you checked that the Avon & Maybelline are pure minerals? I'm not an expert, but am sure I have read on either this thread or the Sheer Cover one, that the 'high street' ones aren't pure.
I say, this because now that I have switched - my skin has been virtually perfect (not easy for an old woman like me!) but it is the best it has ever been and although I don't usually leave my make up on, on the odd occasion I fall into bed without removing it, I know that because it is pure, it won't aggravate my skin. Nor does it aggravate if I do get a spot, thanks to EB's healing foundation that I use.
Might be worth checking out, and keep your skin at its best.
Thank you...it's a treat for me! I am still amazed (and have been finished treatment 4 months now) when I touch my skin and it is not oily. A bonus was that it plumped out my fine lines a bit too!!!
I realise they are not completely pure. Maybelline has no talc though am not sure about Avon. I just feel this would be better than clogging my skin with liquid foundation and then powder. Am scrupulous about taking make up off at night (yes, even if I am seeing 3 of me in the mirror!!) again a throwback to my bad skin days. To be honest I am trying many brands at the mo. I also have the Laura Geller powder foundation as it was a TSV recently. Another good brand. It's just such a novelty for me to sweep a thin layer of powder over my face as oppose to the 'polyfilla' jobs I used to have to do. That was if my face wasn't so sore it would crack...I'll spare you the details!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Next time a Bare Escentuals TSV comes on I am going to get that too I think...see what I think.
Thanks for your kind words however0 -

Trust me, I know where you are coming from
Just want you to get as pure as possible - especially with winter coming up - as I know that my skin worsens. In fact, have a mini minor breakout on chin today...
Mineral make up has turned out to be my saviour - along with some great people on this site that have alot of patience....It took a while for me to get to being just happy with the mineral make up. My skin was awful, spots galore and ezcema too. Nice. Not
I seem to be winning at the moment but am reluctant to be too smug
Oh - and I must mention my specially rich in allantoin comfrey ointment which I apply regularly (at night) for its healing qualities! Reminds me, must order some more! EB has Allantoin in some of their mineral make up. Allantoin is a barrier.... - there is a thread somewhere about it... I've got to make my lunch for tomorrow now - but am sure you can find the thread if you want to!Genie

Who makes the comfrey ointment please? This sounds like a really useful item to buy.
A handy website to visit is https://www.beautypaedia.com home of Paula Begoun a.k.a. 'The Cosmetics Cop'. There's a whole chapter in her book 'Dont Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me' on mineral make-up that's really informative, detailing the properties of all the ingredients and pointing out that talc isn't necessarily the enemy and can be quite useful. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

I've not done a 'link' thing before so bear with me it may not work!
Look what I found when I wasn't even looking for it....http://www.discountvitaminsandherbs....eval-_pid-1489
Blimey - I think 'she's' done it!!
I expect brownie points - or a house point - that's if it works.
Above - very high in Allantoin!!!
I was looking for Luffa complex - which I have ordered (hayfever) and found above, which I have also ordered.
YES!!! Found original post - as in above.
God I'm good. Well, I'm not, just a bit lucky really...
Its a bit firm when you first start to use it - in the sense of it feels hard in the jar - but it does soften more as time goes on, and can use too much... but not sure that is a bad thing!Genie
