I've had my i.d. Bare Escentuals Kabuki brush for a number of years now (it came as part of a kit from the U.S.). With everyday use though, everything wears out eventually, so I thought I'd look around for a replacement. I wanted one that's not synthetic and found these are pretty pricey - some in the region of £55 .

After extensive searching ;) I found a one that's pure goat hair, with a handle, for the princely sum of £6.99 including postage :T from: http://www.ionacosmetics.co.uk I just got an e-mail to say it has been shipped, so I'll let you know how it works out.

I just looked at their bronzers, they seem to have some nice ones:D

Yes, they do a whole mineral range, including foundations, blushers etc. I haven't tried them and from the website it's not really clear what they include in the ingredients - but if you are interested, you could try e-mailing and asking for a list of ingredients.

Just a quick update on the Go Cosmetics Large Kabuki brush £6.99 inc. p&p from http://www.ionacosmetics.co.uk

I'm really pleased with the quality of this very cheap goats hair Kabuki :j. It's a little stiff on first use - but most brushes need to be 'broken in'. It's fine for applying the mineral foundations and finishing powders and because it's quite stiff, you can really buff with it to get that soft focus look that everyone wants from mineral cosmetics.

Definitely one of my top buys this year ;).

Quick question, which may have been asked already earlier in the thread, so I apologise if I haven't looked carefully enough.

My question is, if you go for a mineral foundation and concealer, do you "have" to use mineral eyeshadow, lip colour etc, or can you mix and match with ordinary products? Does it make a big difference to the finish/staying power? And, for example, can you use a mineral concealer with a normal foundation, or vice versa?

I use the mineral foundations, concealers etc and just use whatever eye shadows, eyeliners, lippys I have lying around.

I did buy a mineral eyeliner about 4 years back and haven't even made a dent in it - you use that little. basically I just mix and match with whatever I have, depending on what my skin is doing. But its usually a mineral foundation

    Yo everyone..!!

Re brushes - just want to put my oar in, so to speak. Lovely kabuki from EB, but I ordered a 'pink brush' not kabuki, from EB - and I am loving it alot more than a kabuki - find it easier to apply, its a bit softer and the handle is longer which I am more comfortable with.

Re previous poster. I use any eye make up (don't get me going on the Almay eyeliner...) and tend to use just a moisturiser on my lips.

You can use any eye-shadow or lip-stick etc. you wish, it doesn't have to be mineral and most of mine aren't. I've only got a few mineral eye shadows, but once again EB seem to be the best in terms of colour intensity. I found Bare Escentuals difficult to apply and the colour was hard to build up.

It helps if you apply a cream or crayon type eye-shadow first, like MAC Shadestick, so that the mineral powder has something to adhere to. For a great smokey eyed look, I used MAC Shadestick in Sharkskin, followed by EB's eyeshadows in Meteor and Galaxy.

Crayon - is it fine enough to use as an eyeliner? And can you use it inside the lower lid?

The Mac Shadestick is too thick for lining - but it's quite soft and doesn't drag. The best eyeliner I've found that's suitable for use inside the eye-lashes is in a pencil form by F2. I picked a few of these up for pennies on the Direct Cosmetics website ages ago and they're very good. I wear contact lens and have never had any bother using this particular liner.
