Wow, this thread has REALLY helped me out. I have had very red, blotchy skin for a long time now ... this week I've splashed out on Body Shop Pore Minimiser (marked difference within just THREE days), Body Shop Moisturiser and then Botanics cleanser / toner (the Body Shop had closed down when I went back for those!!) and I've started using No. 7 Make up Primer ... What a difference, I look about ten years younger.
And I haven't even started to type about the mineral make up yet. That's Numberwang!0 -
I use Bare Escentuals and absoultely love it! First tried it from a friend who has her owns salon (shes British Beuaty Therapist of the year so knows her stuff) as she kept moaning my foundation was too thick. It has been a god send I have horrendous skin - v oily, open pores breakouts and the BE stays all day and covers everything. Now I take medication for my skin which stops the oil production and BE still works fantasitcally well. I now get it from ebay though to save some pennies!
I've tried the Avon one but way too drying even when my skin was oily. The L'oreal one is good and I buy this as a stand in for BE if I'm waitin gon a delivery. Another one I tried was Revlon but again it was too drying but that's been while I've been on medication.
The other day I met up with a frined I'd not seen in a few weeks and she said my skin was so flawless - thats all the recommendation I need to keep using BE.
Hope this helps some of you!

I buy from the US via ebay.
I use this too and it lasts for ages, both on your face and in terms of how much you need to use, so it is cost-effective. I bought mine direct from the US in a starter kit containing foundation, concealer, two blushers and mineral veil finishing powder. It's SPF 15 and I would recommend it. I tend to save it for 'best' now, as I'm getting a bit low on it.

Well, I treated myself to some samples from Lilly LoLo (sp?) and they are amazing; I think I overdid it today as everyone commented on my fantastic tan, which wasn't quite the effect I was after, but I feel SO much more confident, I might even risk going down the pub next week for the first time in MONTHSThat's Numberwang!0

Me again; I have perfected 'the look' in just three days.
Wow, everyone thinks I've been on holiday.
No going back to the old slap for me now.
Thanks everyone for such a useful and supportive thread! That's Numberwang!0 -

Give it another three days and you will be able to put on a great face without a mirror
I could never go back to "slap" even though I do get suckered into trying the newest/latest product and tbh I sometimes do get great results from "slap". But they are short lived as my skin really suffers with red sore areas, congestion and just a general irritation0 -
I prob look ten years older - nowt to do with the make up thoGenie

I after reading this thread decided to give lily lolo a go due to the samples and it being in the uk- and i am a total convert! i agree its a bit of a powdered finish but after a while looks great! Youtube has a lot of videos on it of people applying mineral make-up and some advise to spray the brush once you have dabbed it in powder with a vitamin spray or a refresher to make the application a bit more creamy and to really create the photo finish! oooo also can anyone recommend a good kabuki brush i am currently improvising at the moment with my samples.
xkeep calm and carry on :rotfl:
