I'm been insured by QMH since October and had no problems uploading the no claims proof, thank goodness!
However, I need to cancel my claim as my 20 year old daughter has passed her test and I am going to add her as a named driver but they won't cover anyone under the age of 21.
I've had the email about the revised cancellation charges but didn't really understand what it meant until I read this thread!
Does it mean I should only need to pay the cancellation fee now and I shouldn't be fleeced any more than that? Although, at £55, it's no small sum on it's own! :mad:0 -

You will recieve many automated emails and texts but you can not reply to these. Using the only method to contact them provided on the website results in getting no reply. Quick to cancel your policy even if you have contated them numerous times prior requesting information. (In my case i only had a NCD cert in German and was awaiting the english copy before i could upload it). Only recieved one email back from them after i demanded that my money for the remaining 11 months be reembursed to my account. Im glad that i never had an accident and had to rely on them to help out.0 -
They are dangerous. If you want to change your policy their website does not give you enough information and you are left having to email them (which means you have to wait upto 24 hours for the information and hope they understand your email/tweet) or "pretend" you want to make a claim and try and get their claims people to help you.
My example is, I wanted to change my policy so I would be covered on my new car, so I made a change to my car details on the site a couple of days before and changed the effective date. However when I go into my accounts and try and access the insurance I only found a copy of the insurance from the effective date onwards on my new car. I am now left wondering:-
- is my old car's insurance still in place and it will just change over at the effective date
or
- they have stopped the policy on my old car and set it up to start on the effective date on my new car.
I am not a car insurance expert how am I supposed to know. There was no information on the website to explain what has happened. So I email their customer services but have to wait a day meaning I have no idea if my old car is insured the next day. Why could not their website give me the information and help I need. This has caused a lot of completely unnecessary stress which would have been sorted by more info or a 2 min call to a customer services person.
If their lack of information is symptomatic of this example, I amsure there will be other s. G*d knows what would happen if I wanted to make a claim!0 -
Lesson learnt to save £40 from the next reputable insurance company.
I was hit in my car (fully comp protected) and the 3rd party admitted liability straight away, even called his insurance company there and then and said it was his fault! (doesn't happen often does it!)
It took one call 43 mins waiting... then hung up.
Then 1hr 12 mins!!!! yes, phone left on table all through tea and washing up to try talk to someone.
Long story but I ended up going through his insurance as he had admitted liability and within an hour I had a courtesy car on my drive, an assessor coming out tomorrow and one of their team calling me to see if my health was ok!
Lesson learnt.

I had a bad experience with quotemehappy.
I had to return my car to the garage and cancelled my policy with quotemehappy (QMH). I had paid for the policy using two different credit cards. I attempted to cancel the policy online but an error message appeared stating there had been a problem. As there is no telephone number to contact anyone  I emailed QMH. Automated response stated would take 1 day to reply. I never received a phone call from QMH and the email received was a standard email re cancellations. As my policy showed online as being cancelled I assumed the refund would find its way back to my credit card. After 5 days this still hadn't happened so I contacted QMH via email again, as there is no contact telephone number , and received an automated response stating they were extremely busy and emails were taking 2 days to respond to.
I finally received an email stating they could see there had been a problem in cancelling my policy but as it had only just been noticed it would take 3-5 days to be processed - I am still waiting for this money to be refunded - the 5 days has passed - I have sent yet another email, as there is no contact telephone number , and received the automated response stating will take 1 day to respond - well it is now the weekend, so I'll have to wait until Monday.
If you want a close and personal service and want to be able to speak to a real person I would strongly recommend you don't use quotemehappy.0 -
I insured with QMH last year and found their quote to be slightly cheaper than others.
It was an online service only and I had to upload my proof of NCD to their site. After uploading NCD proof for 12 years, they only accepted 9 years and this year when I decided to move to a 'normal' insurance company, they sent me proof of NCD for 9 years again (I was expecting 9 + 1 years).
I found their website to be slow and unresponsive at times and with all the frustration wished for a telephone number to be able to speak to someone - but it was email only or make your changes online yourself.
so, I wasn't all that impressed but it depends how much cheaper they are quoting compared to your 2nd best quote.0 -
I have just purchased a new car and set up a policy with QMH. I anticipated problems when I uploaded my NCB and saw their very strict criteria. I haven't continuosly drove a car but have built up NCB. They stipulate that you NCB must be within 12 months. Not happy! Also not happy about it all being online. You realise when something doesn't go right how much you need to be able to contact them.
I've just took the decision to cancel within the 14 days cooling off as I just get a very bad feeling from them.0 -

This thread and their Facebook page has been getting much less active lately so I can only presume they are becoming better at dealing quickly with emailed complaints or complaint sent using their Contact Us form.
Either that or they have reduced marketing of QuoteMeHappy or made their prices much less insanely attractive than they were a few months ago.0 -

They were by quite a bit the cheapest quote. But I knew they would hit me with a massive ammended quote for not meeting their NCB criteria. They did hit me with a cancellation admin fee but I feel that is preferable to the ammended quote.0 -

Certainly QuoteMeHappy's policy on bonuses themselves once registered is amongst the best in the industry allowing two claims in the last three years (only MoreThan and Admiral/BelDirect/Elephant/Diamond are better with a completely Guaranteed bonus policy where your bonis is not reduced no matter how many claims you make in a year even though your gross premium from which NCD is subtracted will still go up on renewal). The less good insurers only allow two claims in the last five years and at one stage Esure was only allowing one claim in five years on Protected NCD before the next claim knocked your bonus back by another two years.
As the 14 day cancellation period is an FSA requirement of some kind surely the terms must be better than cancellation after the 14 day cooling off period?
I know the inability to ask questions on the phone and the frequent failure to answer online questions in a timely manner or with a meaningful answer can be frustrating but the cover itself is ok if you can get all the bonus stuff agreed. I have checked out who their approved repairers are and they are perfectly respectable companies like Nationwide Car Repairs who do follow good practice and give you a reasonable loan car in the event that the worst happens. You can of course use any repairer but then your excess goes up by £250, which still only makes it the same as the excess asked for by most other insurers.
Perhaps if you emailed officeoftheceo@aviva.com or message them on the QuoteMeHappy Facebook page they could have looked in to your issues and then covered you at the low price.0
