Hi -Reference Selective2007,
I am reliably informed that a local parcels company was called in to deliver OBO selective the last week in April, They did the work for five days, then having concerns over his integrity asked for some payment, this payment was made and was subsequently returned by his bank. It would appear that:-
Cheap deliveries can be offered if the carrier is not to be paid.
Cheap deliveries result in a poor customer service.
Its highly likely selective is winding down his activity for nowand
will emerge in another guise elsewhere
Skipper
Payperdrop have constantly done a very good service and have traded on Ebay for a while now.I appreciate Kevin may have offered his services to another person(s),and not pay, maybe true with him ,but I have no doubts that DHL would have already pulled the plug on PPD by now. So is Kevin still trading at his depot?
As for poor customer service-I recently commented on here about PPD excellent live chat.Again maybe with Kevin but not what I have been used to .
Yes he may want to come in with another disguise and that will probably be a third party, but as for the items he is selling, some of us have copies of those and saved searches on Ebay to identify when they will come back.
Furthermore, Kevin has a certain style to his grammer and presentation.Easily
identified in a future sale.Just look at his reply to bad feedback sometime ago
Good luck Kevin in whatever you do,but at the moment you may have to deal with your customers court actions and possibly the baliffs,if it comes to that.
More sleepless nights to come.
Anyway Skipper welcome to MSE if you are really a new member.
Lastly Send your parcels.....can you give out a local area number instead of the 0870 you list. That way your customers don't have to pay the dreaded 10p per minute to query or even ask for a service. Will you also be getting live chat?We look forward to you listing on Ebay shortly.I have sent you a PM about this.0 -
Today the phone at Selective International is just ringing and ringing and ringing and.....0

Hi - I am new to the MSE site, I have no experience with it, I have however despatched thousands of parcels and know the score there. Its not rocket science to deliver parcels, Most companies do it adequately. However the acid test is that when something goes wrong what service do you get ?
If PPD have an excellent customer Service record thats great, I do however stand by my comments. PPD and Selective charge you, and then because of the numbers involved gain a discount from the likes of DHL. We, as a company would not use DHL, and at 3/4 £s how much margin do PPD and Selective have to play with ? Its pennies, Okay when things are going well
but when things go wrong there is insufficient resource on hand to rectify them . Parcels mount up and mount up. I have seen it first hand. Also most National Carriers are actually only just wakening up to Domestic deliveries, Driven only by volume they are dipping their toe in the water. A select few do a good job with domestics, have good tracking and communication, and re-deliver free of charge.
Why, for a couple of pounds though risk the hassle of losing or damaging your goods, and put up with the aggravation of unanswered phone calls/poor communication - How much do you value your time? My point is that if you always take the cheapest option, don't expect a terrific response when things go wrong.
PS.... I haven't received the private message, but look forward to receiving it!0 -
Spoke to a courier company called Fastway today which had some good deals on UK parcel deliveries for anyone sending quite a few parcels, I'll post details in a new thread as I'm also interested to hear about anyone that has used them before.
I think the key to getting a reliable parcel courier is to go direct which is what I've been looking into0 -

On current form PPD seem to be doing an excellent job.As a customer that is
only what I go on.I see it as a bonus that they have other ways of being contacted.I appreciate that things can go wrong which may have nothing to do with them.We will have to wait an see if they fail.
While it's at £5.99 it's still hugely cheaper than some of the other couriers listing. The 'pile it high policy seems to be working for some companies at as you say ,at £2 a go,I'm sure they have done their sums. That reminds me ,I must get back to them to see if they are going to take the 'one delivery only'
from their advert and change it to 'multiple'.
Oh the PM was for Sendyourparcels.com (itdistributionuk on Ebay)
If anyone's intrested, when ITDUK relist on Ebay soon, they should be going to an 0844 number.Still no good as the call charge is still there.Hopefully they could give us the local area so that we can use free calls to make contact.
A live chat may also be available as advised via prompt return PM.0 -

A parcel has been sent by a seller to me, a laptop, it was delivered and booked at the depot on the 4th of May. I was told it would be with me last tuesday/wednesday. It didn't arrive wednesday I emailed the seller he said it'll be with me before 9 o clock. It wasn't, He emailed me saying he was assured by 9pm thursday, didn't arrive, he got assured 9pm friday, I called up and got a guy who said he was on his lunch and to try back in half an hour. I tried back in 30 minutes and I got told he had just gone out to the bank and to try again in half an hour.
The seller got assured that it was on their Essex deliverer's van and I would get it Monday. Didn't arrive, and he then said It should be with me yesterday/today for certain. It's now 1.20 today and I have to work at 5... Does anyone know where Selective International is? I'll go to their HQ, pick up my darn parcel, and let them keep the £3.99 (the person who sold me the laptop charged £20)
Anyone know anything?0 -

Im also having problems with selective, they came and collected a parcel 30th april which was supposed to be going via their offices and then onto italy. The driver didnt give me a receipt, ive lost count of the no of times ive emailed and phoned and heard nothing back from them so i dont have a tracking no and have no idea where this parcel is. My ebay customer is starting to get worried now as its been 2.5 weeks and she still doesnt have her parcel and i cant give her the tracking no as i havent got one. I cant afford to issue her a refund as haven't got £63 spare at the mo so dont know what to do and its only a matter of time before she opens a paypal dispute against me.0
