Breakthrough! I got vjain's relative pick up the phone, he explained to me kevin is struggling because he lost his contract with DHL, kept me talking for 2 minutes and eventually gave me kevin's mobile number!

I'll post the progress when I called him :)

Any luck with his mobile number? I wonder what his home telephone number is?...

    Nah, it's always turned off.

My seller went to the Headquarters this morning, this is the email I received.

I went to Keighley first thing this morning - I have only just got back,

They have managed to find 14 of my parcels, I have still about 5 outstanding one of these is yours unfortunantely. Their warehaouse/shop is such a mess and piled up with loads of parcels. They said they are sorting through them tonight and would tell me when they find the missing ones. If they don't find it I will have to refund your money and make a claim against selective.

Sounds like 1 hell of a back log... Are they still actually posting out parcels that people have paid for to be delivered?...

Family hit out as dog dies
From the Telegraph & Argus, first published Saturday 18th Sep 1999.

A dog was left to die after the RSPCA and People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) allegedly refused to help.

Coco, a 20-month-old brown and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier fell ill when she gave birth to a still-born puppy after a 48-hour labour.

How she had got pregnant was a mystery to her owner - 15-year-old Kevin King, of Braithwaite Avenue, Keighley. "We kept her on a lead at all times - we never let her out because there are too many stray dogs," he says.

Realising Coco needed emergency medical help, Kevin's mum Pam contacted the nearest PDSA office, in Leeds. They thought the PDSA would be able to help, as his family's low income means they cannot afford private vets' bills. His father Chris is unemployed and claims Job Seekers' allowance. But, living in Keighley, they were told they were outside the group's catchment area, so no help could be given.

They then tried the RSPCA. The operator offered to give first aid advice over the telephone. But that was insufficient for Coco, who at that point was very weak.

They were then told that because no RSPCA staff were in the vicinity, and the family were unable to provide the money to pay for someone to come out to them, nothing could be done. The RSPCA referred the Kings to the PDSA again and again they received the same response.

Kevin says: "All I could do was hope for the best, put a blanket down and give her warm milk. I wrapped her up and kept petting her now and then."

    Coco died.

Kevin worked for the PDSA in Bow, East London, for eight months before the family moved to Keighley last November and would like to one day become a vet. He believes that Coco could have been saved with the right care.

"I feel like we have been victimised," he says.

PDSA spokesman Geraldine Stewart says: "We have to have quite regulatory areas based on postcodes and we also means-test and target people that are really in need. It's awful, because you always get something like that (Coco's death) happening. We have a special request policy that can contribute money to private vet bills, but it is not always possible."

The RSPCA proclaims itself equally blameless. Spokesman Lauren Flannagan says: "The information we received from the call at 7.15 am was that the dog was in difficulty. The RSPCA authorise first aid care to an animal that is suffering, but as we understood it, the dog was in difficulty, not a grave situation that was going to lead to its death. We did ring the PDSA, but I don't know what happened from there."

She feels that the RSPCA is helpless in such cases. "We have 40 inspectors that cover a wide region and are basically under pressure all the time," she says. "It could take an hour or so to come to the Keighley area, then it would require driving from there to the clinic and putting the animal through further distress."

The nearest RSPCA clinic is in Bradford.

"We always advise people to have pets neutered to prevent things like this happening in the first place,' says Lauren.

Meanwhile, Kevin has found solace with new puppy, Billy - no relation to Coco.
