Its interesting reading everyones experiences of how supplements can help with tiredness.
I would love to hear which ones people notice a difference with and which dont
I think I'm willing to try just about anything to help at the mo, as I just cant get motivated to much right now"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - quote from Bambi's mum0 -
Yawn morning all have been up since 2.30 cant sleep, totally forgot to take any iron tablets yesterday, really don't know what's wrong with me.I've also put on a pound which considering im trying to loose weight isnt great. Having a bad night, periods due and can't sleep.
If taking vitamin D try to take D3 not D2 apparently this is a more active form. I just take the Holland and barrett one sunvite d3 its really cheap.
I take flaxseed omega 3+6+9 instead of fish oil as i read that some supplements the fish oil is not very pure. Holland and barret again do a good potent flaxseed which is usually in the penny sale when i stock up on it. Good for veggies.
I've been doing some soul searching this last week or so and again back to my issue of stress. Which i know i find difficult to control which in turn makes me worse, but my ill health stresses me out. But i've always been a stress magnet and we do underestimate the effects stress can have.
But its a catch 22 sometimes, so i have made a concerted effort to start my yoga again and aim for 20 mins a day however i'm feeling. I'm on day 4 today and feeling ok, I;m also regulary practising breathing exercises and talking myself through things.
I stopped my b12 for a few days and could feel my anxiety returning and stiff neck, so popped one yesterday and my neck has eased. We do our best
Thanks for putting this on I have found it very useful:)
Once I have finished the cod liver oil will start taking the flaxseed oil and will go in Holland & Barratt and ask about the vit D also.
Am also going to try the Yoga & breathing you talked about. I'll give it a go:) My sister suggested the Yoga aswell.
I am also a stresser and worry about everything:eek:
From my weight, the kids, the house, my money, OH, life the universe & everything:o
I cant help it it's just the way I am!! It's not helping at the moment that Ive had workmen in for three days continously leaving the front door open:eek: and making s**t loads of mess.
Next week's half term am not looking forward to it.
Best wishes to you all and keep warm:coffee:

Alliboy: Welcome to the workmen club! We have just the decorators left to go after a week of plasterers, window fitters holes in walls letting minues5 degrees air in, and eeek Landlord! I actually asked the builders to hoover up told them my hoover was full and couldn't find the right replacement bag in the shops! I also told them I work nights to make them feel sorry for me getting up to let them in when they arrive 15min ahead of schedule so they were a bit better behaved. It's an extra stress you really don't need and when you aren't well you can't exactly escape it.
What about holiday clubs for the kids are there any subsidised or free activity days they can go on to get them out of your hair for a little bit? About worries, its hard to switch them off isn't it. There are lots of different strategies the one that works for me is writing down or putting it in dictaphone in a structured way: what exactly am I worried about in one sentence at a time (like "clearing up after the builders") or "looking after the kids on half term". If its an emotional situation like fight with OH I spend 5 min thinking from his point of view, if its something in the future I think of one thing I can do to make it easier. I call it the chipping away thing, then ask when I can do it by (tomorrow, or when I feel up to it), then write or speak it out loud. I tell myself I dont know anyone who can solve one problem with one action and even the smallest thing will make me feel as though I have done something towards helping, even if it is just asking someone else for advice or saving £1. I find I worry most at night which is when you have the time but you can do the least about it! good luck and there is always support on here from a fellow workmen tolerator(and the biggest worrier in the universe!)

Oh i know all about buildersI went downhill when we had a damp proof course and we had to live upstairs and i felt like my home was not mine and we were living out of a microwave. It really did make me feel worse, so i can sympathize totally.
Just been on to Holland and Barrett website this morning and they are having a 50% sale from today and omega flazseed and vit d are in the sale :j
About the stress in general, i do think people are more prone as my hubbie is so laid back and looks at me like i'm barmy, so really exercise is a must for me, even though i do let it slipBut thats the busyness of life but i should make that time for me because then it helps everyone, I'm calm lol.
I've tried all types of exercise and while they all work, i always come back to yoga as it has so many internal benefits and it really does work for me. I don't use a gentle yoga though because i want to tone as well. Its Bikram Yoga. Its Been around for ages and i discovered it by Raquel Welch book my mum had...she basically nicked Bikrams sequence.
Youtube video of the full sequence by Raquel, but the book is better. It really does work and helps all your internal organs as well. I'm on day 6 now...missed a daybut feel so much better and less stressed.
But don't beat yourself up if you can't do exercise everyday, thats more stress.
My half term is the week after but good thing is he's old enough now to play out with his friends, but i remember the days of having to amuse him, my mum always said it was harder with one.
Hope you all have a better day today. x0 -

I havent had or felt the need to have a little sleep during the day all week :T I decided to up my thyroid meds at the weekend at it seems to have done the trick! Still struggling to get to sleep at night tho, had a long hot bubble bath last night but was still nearly 2 am after reading for while before I was able to drop off.
Given that its half term the kids have definately appreciated not having a sleepy mummy this week"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - quote from Bambi's mum0 -
That's great news want to be free!0

Ok new week and i'm going to set myself some new goals. I've been waking up at 3am and it's really not fun, if i can stick to these relativly easy goals each day then hopefully i'll sleep better.
1. Make sure take all my tablets.
2. Drink 8 glasses of water.
3. Stay awake until at least 8.30pm.
4. Have my 5 a day.
5. Go for an hr walk each day.
Small easy steps that should be doable.I hope!0 -
Hello
I have just been reading this thread and can associate with all that has been said, It is nice to know that I am in good company and not alone.
I have had an underactive thyroid for about 10 years now, am on 125mcg thyroxine a day.
I am sure my DH does not believe that I can be totally shattered most of the time.
I try to get as much stuff as possible done in the mornings because after lunchtime the brain fog seems to come in a bit thicker and I often need to have an afternoon sleep.
My memory is sometimes very good and other times I cannot remember the start of a short conversation, eg. one morning my DH phoned to remind me to get something out of the freezer for dinner and at the end of the call (approx 2mins) I asked him 'what did you call me for?' as I just could not remember.
I do get out to walk with my 2 dogs most days.
I know I do not drink anywhere enough water. so I am going to force myself to drink more (If I can remember):o.
I am also going to keep a diary of what I eat to see if any particular foods affect my levels of tiredness.0
