I have applied for a Micro account, should be updated in a couple of days according to PayPal, so hoping that makes a difference on the fees.

Have managed my 2 bags for the week and sorted out some bits for a charity bag as well

Would be interesting to see how you go with that, I still haven't had the chance to read up on it properly. I did try but my 2 yrd old was mum, mum, mum, mum,MUUUUUUMMMMMMM so think that was her letting me know I had been at the laptop too long

another bag sorted today, only listed as 2 items though, seeing how they go in bundles rather than individually, might save me a few pennies on the fees.

Bids now upto £16 :T on the ones I had listed before, with lots of watchers, fingers crossed, still another day a bit to go.

Should be able to sort another bag of bits to list tomorrow too, am now walking around the house with my ebay goggles on, if its not nailed down, it is at risk :rotfl:

My daughter is 4 and she is beginning to be a bit wary of putting anything down in case I sell it, lol

Will let you know how it goes, I'm just going to use the micro account for bits that I'm not really expecting to get much more than a few pounds for. Just got to remember to use the different PayPal email addresses for the different items.

Hope your 2 year old lets you have a little play on laptop tomorrow :)

Well my first lot of listings have all ended and I have 2 more to finish tomorrow morning. One person has bought 2 items so I have given her a partial refund of £1 through paypal this morning for her combined postage. I have gone on to change my account so that it automatically deducts £1 for every other item in case anyone buys any more than one thing.
From the first two items which I have sent today, I have cleared (after P&P and fees) £19.50. I'm well chuffed with that!
Awaiting payment for other items so will have t package a coat this evening and post it tomorrow morning and then just wait for the payments to start rolling in.
I will take more photos tomorrow morning in readiness for the next lot of listings.
My issue with the photos is that my lounge is dark and gloomy so I need the light to be good to get decent pictures. I have decided to set up a folder on my computer which can house all of my ebay pictures. Then, when I am ready, I can just bung them all on ebay and not need to worry about finding an photographing the items. I have a large ottoman in my bedroom which is empty so I have decided that it will be my ebay chest. I will photograph items and pop them in the chest ready for listing. I hope this works although I may have to investigate some sort of basket system in order to not have to turf out everything from the chest at the end of each auction block.

I'm hoping for fortnightly free listing days like last year because it means that I can actually list on my weekends off and then the auctions all finish on the Tuesday or Wednesday which is perfect as I finish my nights on the Tuesday morning.

Really want to make some more money now with all the tat that's lying around this house :D
    Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.
    MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.
    2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.

She's at Grannies tomorrow night so hopefully I will then, although do have fantasies of an early night and doing nothing:)

Yeah I think that it will be getting the balance of when to use Micro payments and then remembering to use it

Just nearing the end of my bag for listing today so on track for this week. nicola00 1 bag

    My system is

Take photo, weigh, note down weight, repeat, repeat etc etc

Start piles of similar things, so when listing you can just hit sell similar and info all still there, category etc

Then just start working through listing those piles

I only list items I think should start at more than 99p on free listing weekends

Things I just want rid of get listed at 99p

My auctions always end on a Fri,Sat & Sun between 6.30-10.30pm

Which means I list for 5 & 7 day listings on a Tue, Fri, Sat and Sun night

I use the Ebay postage estimater/RM and add on another few grams to accommodate bag/packaging as this could be just enough to tip over into next weight category

I have just started listing nearly all my stuff as 2nd class

I round up the postage price and then only add on cost of packaging, the bags I use cost from 20p-50p, most times I add on 30p- more if I need to.

Rounding up and adding on the same gives a uniform look to my postage so most often than not it all falls into a pattern

I offer combined postage on everything and try to be honest in every description, if its marked, slightly blemished etc state that

Then just sit back and relax...............
Er I mean check all the time to see how many watchers you have, oooohhh a bid, anymore? worry that nothing will sell, sitting watching the last few minutes go by on an item as last minute bids come in.....then stress out your nut as you organise and pack everything up for the PO , hoping that there isn't a big Queue when you get there

As for what to sell things at , just have a look on ebay and see if its already being sold and how its doing

    Good Luck

nicola00, I've got a quick question. Since you post your items 2nd class do you have to pay for the postage out of your pocket when you take the parcels to the PO? I tend to use paypal to print postage labels and automatically pay for the postage but it only offers me 1st class as cheapest option , (unless I'm doing something wrong). I just like the convenience of all my incomings and outgoings being in paypal rather than having to pay for postage out of my normal weekly budget.

My DD is 7 and she just goes "Mum is this ebay or charity shop?" :rotfl:
  • I'm really interested in this micro account. Does anyone have a link on how to apply please.

Well, I didn't meet my target for the last week as both kids have been down with the stomach bug so I've been busy cleaning up sick and doing extra loads of washing instead of listing on ebay.
Still, got my first bag for this week done tonight so one star earned:T
Out of 10 items I listed last week 6 have got bids of £0.99 on them and the rest have got watchers but still almost 3 days left to run. Keeping my fingers crossed

Whatever I payout at PO I transfer that exact amount from paypal into my bank account, normally on the same day.

I just keep a money bag with loose change in it and pay postage from that and whatever money I transfer to bank account I replace into the bag so there's always money there which normally is enough to cover the next lot of postage and so the cycle continues. So your only really out of pocket the first time (does that make sense)

I have only just started 2nd class as I thought it might get me better sales, I post within one day of payment so most folk get just as quick as 1st class anyway.

I didn't go down the printing postage route as figured I'm using up ink and paper that would then have to add into costs somehow

Another 3 items ended yesterday, another £9.89 (not inc postage) for my ebay kitty :j

    Minus fees etc of course.

Im just thinking about all this. I use my cash or bank card to pay postage. So when the money clears in my paypal account, should I transfer what I paid in postage from paypal to my bank account? Then my fees will come out of the remaining paypal balance, so that way what is in paypal is my profit only? Iykwim??

At the moment Im paying postage from my own cash then just leaving all the money in paypal, so Im not really seeing what's profit... :o
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
