Wow sharpee 2k, well done. I think I would have to sell everything including kitchen sink to get anything close to that.
I've only managed to list 13 items (& most were re-listed) so must try harder tomorrow. On the plus 1 item has 4 watchers & a bidder so hopefully I can get a few more bids on it before it finishes tomorrow.

I'm a very happy bunny, I've got bids up to £22 odd on a computer kneeling stool I listed. I got it about 10 years ago and haven't used it for about 7 years so will be really happy to get the money :). I've also sold a table and have a few watchers on my other items. I just have to hope that those watchers convert to bidders in the next few hours/days :).

lol I know that feeling. I can be on my laptop watching, wishing for bids and listening for a bid notification 'ding dong' on my ipad at the same! I either need to get an instant notification thing for my Mac or a life. I'm not sure which i'd prefer at the moment :D

How do you get it to ping on your ipad if you get a bid? I need to get me one of them things :D

I am not so enamoured with the pings then after all! A few auctions have finished tonight causing eBay for iPad and eBay for iPhone to collude to wake me up. Thankfully all of tonight's auctions have now finished so I shall drag my sorry carcase back to my bed! May have to disable the pings though. But, £61.32 so far tonight. £6.42 of which is the nob and I'll close that dispute tomorrow evening. Night all :)

I hope this is the right forum? I am new to E-Baying and have sold a shed load of items. The thing is the post office in Salisbury have raised their prices, so the money I made on E-Bay is probably going to have to replace the money I used to post the items in the first place so I won't get any benifit as yet from what I have earned. :(

When I next list stuff should I change it to 'special delivery'? I am a bit worried this will put buyers off. What should I put my post and packaging up to please?

Hi there and welcome to ebaying! (the main forum can be seen in my signature)

I wonder if you want to explain the 'post office putting up their prices' as this has not yet happened and post offices do not set their own prices for Royal Mail services . It shouldn't matter where you are the RM prices are the same, the only differenc emight be, as some of us have found, is that some post managers allow things as large letters as long as they can go through the slot in the measuring gauge, whereas some interpret the rules to mean it must go through 'easily' without being pushed or pulled. Could it have bene something like that?

Alternatively , some post offices, especially Crown ones do try and upsell quite aggresively so will offer recorded automatically. Might you have agreed to something without them fully explaining what they were charging ?

GOOD GRIEF! I wasn't expecting that much- 2nd will be more than 1st is now.

I haven't had the most successful weekend- One bundle of stuff that I though would go for £30-40 and had loads of watchers went for £19 to someone in France- now I have to arrange a courier as it's too heavy for R.M.
I also had someone offer a good BIN price if I could ship to USA, I spent ages researching prices for shipping and added the BIN at my cost then at the last moment she seems to have disappeared- Grrr!
I'm going to block her as a bidder now as I'm now selling it to her for peanuts after all that.

The lesson for me is definitely to only offer international postage on lighter items!

HMRC have put an official post up on the ebay board. Whilst it is unlikely to affect anyone on here, I thought it worth drawing peoples attention to it in case they want to pass it on to anyone else.

Thank you Soolin, it did make me smile that as a newbie poster we should be especially nice to the HMRC. ;)

Grr- people don't read do they! Someone bought a table from me last night for £5. That's fine. It says all the way through the listing that it is cash on collection or cash on delivery (within my local area). They've only gone and paid via paypal! That's cost me another 37p in fees  I've messaged them and asked nicely if they wouldn't mind me refunding the payment and paying by cash on collection so that I can save the fees but will just have to suck it up if they won't.
In other news, the nice chap has just phoned about the other table I sold and is collecting this afternoon. Yay!

Maybe the buyer is saying the same about you- sellers cannot refuse paypal as regardless of what your own terms and conditions are you cannot go against the ebay rules.

It is one of those rules that does upset a lot of us, but for smaller purchases many of us still risk using ebay rather than just taking it to a charity shop.
