  • Anyone had an email to say it's free listing this weekend ? The last one was two weeks ago and I was hoping it would be again this weekend.

    I always check out the ebay board on here to find out when it is. The last one was 3 weeks ago and it would be the 2nd time this year that they've left it 3 weeks. So perhaps. Let's hope they're not just stringing them out a little bit further.

    Really cheesed off. I have someone who was supposed to collect something at 9.30. They've not showed. I've got someone on the way for something. They have contacted me and even contacted me to check the item was still available and I was in before they left home.
    I've got someone collecting something from ebay too and when we were arranging collection I said any time today was fine. That doesn't mean I expect her not to specify a time. I'm now effectively housebound for the entire day and have parcels to post. I could have gone out and done my thing earlier this morning apart from the collection at 9.30 so I'm not in a happy mood.

    Hehe, I stomped off after this message was posted and both of the facebook buyers arrived at the same time. So that's £5 for my Florida fund and £2 for my Aunties jar. I'm sticking all of the money in a jar because I figure if I hand her a wad of cash, she's more likely to take it than a few pounds here and there.
    I managed to get hold of my ebayer too. She's now pinned down to a rough time (11ish) and I have to deliver some bits at 14.15. Just have to hope that the other ebay collection person contacts me soon.

    This is exactly why I don't really like to allow collections on things! Im lucky that my DH has taken things to his work, and people have collected from there. He says it's to allow me to 'go out and do things', but I know it's cos he thinks I'm going to get kidnapped by some strange man collecting a breadmaker :eek:

  • Awww bless your OH zepsgal!!!

    Urgh, chasing people for money is tedious. Opened a NPB last night and no word from the buyer. Ah well. I think I might be able to 2nd chance it.

    I meant to list some stuff on 10 day listing last night but completely forgot...oops! So am about to start listing stuff on garagesale to upload on sunday night instead. Another 2 bags for me I think.

    Hi all, just listed another 7 items, so 1 star for this week so far. Not sure if any of these items will sell (old DVDs, etc) but will wait and see.

    Took lots of pics of books to sell but checking on ebay just now there's simply no money in it :( lots of book companies selling them so cheap that the price of the book wouldn't even cover the cost of postage (if that makes sense)

    How is everyone getting rid of their books? or is charity shop my only option here?

    Great that it's free listing this w/end, I've got a few items to relist:j

    Yeah I have tons of books to list too - But have put it off for months as ebay doesnt really go well with adult books ive found unless they are rare or recent :(

    I find bundles go best on there -Like all action ones or all chic flick bundles etc - this way you can currier them too to save on postage if you put them in a box ...Might be worth you listing a bIn see how they go !?!!

    I usually find amazon is no good either for regular books , however I have got rid of the odd few on play and green met , and I am going to try preloved , gum tree , netmums , loot etc soon with them as i can take a bundle pic and offer individual prices too . As i have done quite well in the past with my daughters books or kiddie books on all these in the past { and suggested offers to and done okay }

    There is a stall in the local market to me that they buy books off you for 50p - £1 each i think or you can swap books , ive not really looked into it yet , but you could see if you have something like that local if you want to just get rid of them - but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much cash in books these days with kindles etc going around !!

    Hello from a lurker:j I'm only up to page 6 so far but I'm busy scribbling notes and would like to thank everyone in this thread for some very helpful ideas. I've done quite a bit of buying over the years on ebay and am going to be having a go at selling just as soon as i get myself organised (should be sometime before the next millenium at the current rate :rotfl:)

    I don't know if http://www.greenmetropolis.com/ would be of any interest for listing your books?

    Each book sells for a flat price of £3.75 of which GM take 75p and the seller receives £3. It's probley better suited to books which meet the post office silly letterbox size rules but I think you can get the postage weights raised slightly for heavier books.
    All listings are free, there's not a lot of money in it profit wise, as it's set up more as a way of recycling your books with the option of donating 50p/£1 from each book sale to one of 5 charities, which pretty much means you barely see anything from your £3. I heard about it through the Dogs Trust.

    Again I don't know if anyone has heard of http://www.pointtrade.co.uk/ which has launched in the last couple of weeks. Seems to be set up along similar lines to ebay in as much as buyers pay with Paypal. Sellers can set their own prices or accept bids, and you can set your own p+p according to which of the 10 EU countries the buyer is in. The Seller Fee structure is 4% of total purchase amount and 2% on transfer from PointTrade account to your bank account but you can have upto £500 in the PT acc before you transfer it.
    There is a 2% fee to buyers for transactions.

    Apologies If i'm posting something that people have already heard about or posting in the wrong place, I'm going to slip back to the thread and keep reading;)

    Hello all ... So I need to get listing for some pennies next week to cash out with . I have withdrawn £169.00 from paypal this week some postage and fees to come out of that yet thow, but all helps :)

    Welcome

    :hello::hello:

    Well done Mummydrusillia on your bathroom bits - have you managed to list them ?
    Also Kaz2904 & Helen Jelly on your funds you have made :D

    - i also find boys clothing sell lots better and when i list them bIn they go quicker than girls , I also guess this is due to hard wearing issues . So I have had to start listing my girls bundles cheaper to get quicker sales . However I throw in teh odd excellent designer labels into them to make them more appealing rather than seperate listings now . Or i make smaller cheaper bundles to save on postage costs and list to auction . i.e all tops / all dresses etc - It still averages about the price I want but have to put a bit more effort in to list more listings .

    I have had to refund a couple of orders this week that sold for 99p - which i had already made a loss on when posting as my scales have broken again so i am going to invest in the dearer ones on ebay that retail at £25 on there as I keep buying cheap scales that keep breaking so I end up guessing postage costs and it ends up costing me more :(

    I have a non payer whom asked how much posting to abroad would be if she won two auctions of mine - I quoted her - she won one listing and is now saying it is too much for posting . I have re-weighed { with another pair of cheap scales } and I have under charged - again she won the jeans for 99p - :eek: I explained and sent royal mail link to how much the posting costs and now have heard nothing other than I am charging way to much £2.95 so not sure to open a ncd now as its been over a week .

    I currently have 3 bags I photographed last night so going to list what I can in the next hour ready for 7 day listing over the weekend :o
