Talex Lite Speed Cam Detector £59.99 in Aldi - Hurry!!

Hello to all. I am about to stamp on my Talex lite like i did with my Sinclair Spectrum. Please help. When i try to update using the Novus site using their usb driver there isnt a comm port to select in the drop down box.( the box is blank). I've tried all ways but cannot get the damn thing to update. Has anyone else had the same problem ???

Good question, it works just as a TALEX LITE with non of the Full TALEX extras.


Keithtalex......try rebooting your PC after downloading the USB driver

Tried that several times Mike. I have looked in the device drivers and the settings say i am on comm 3 for this device. however, ive tried manually inputting com 3 but no joy. i have also noticed that the baud rate is different to that specified in the novus update software and tried changing that to suit. still no bloomin joy.....I purchased my data cable from talex GPS specifically to update from the original talex update site. You dont think novus and talex woould use different internal connections in their data cables do you..?

dont know if it will work for you but it happened like that on my talex lite.
i just kept pressing the update button and it found the right port.

tried that.... just get same error "deltaupdate.exe has encountered a problem blah. blah". Did youget any com ports visible or just blank white space in drop down box???

initially just com3 and blank under that but after 3 or 4 presses of the update key it decided on com 12 and updated

I initially just got the blank white space in drop down box, so I disconnected the USB cable and waited about 15 seconds.

When I plumbed it back in, the device was found in com port 10 and it updated no bother.

I just recently bought the Talex Lite and today used my dad's USB cable without any problems which was included in theTalex updates package he bought over a year ago.

Being a tight git, I wasn't prepared to be ripped off and pay the best part of £20 to buy my own cable (£15.99, plus 2 quid odd P&P from Novus)!

I have a Talex Lite. I downloaded driver etc from Novus website and then re-booted and the update found com4 and updated no bother. I'll find out tomorrow whether there are any local changes.

I'm now begining to have doubts about my talex unit.. i keep getting the same error. It seems that xp cannot run the software because it cannot find the port the talex wants to connect to . It finds the device (talex) cos it tells me its when i plug it in and also tells me its correctly installed. This thing is getting closer and closer to my size nine boot. I will give it a few days and hope the programmer finds a bug in the software. I will post again if i get it to work.
