  • Yes, I posted too early before I checked the link.

If the Novus Delta download works with the Talex's and they do indeed offer free subscriptions then I can see Talex Technology having a funding problem.

I'll stick with it for a few months and then if nothing happens I will seriously consider a TTXL with the cameras from PGPSW = Proper Job !

Good news people. the Novus Delta update is now working!!
Better yet it has just mended my 'bricked' Talex Lite.
and to answer the next question it is version 8015
Good luck talex Lite users. It seems Novus is looking after us
It is better to contemplate writing a malicious comment that can make you appear stupid, than to write and confirm it.
  • Yeah I stuck my neck out too and tried the free update from NOVUS, and after a few hitches saying couldn't open serial port I kept hitting the update button and now I have the 8015 from my old version of 6055, I just need to test it now on some of the cam sites round this area, as this Talex has been out of action for some time, I'll keep you posted.
If this works then I'll be comming back for more Thats one in the eye for the new Talex Co, & I think they should have looked after existing subcribers better TAKE NOTE ADAM BLAIR!!!

Also I just updated my TALEX LITE on the active subscription with TALEX and I got the 8015 from them too,
Both new updates Live on the same day I still smell a rat.
  • I have a Talex and had same problems updating.Blairs new site said device already registered but would not let me update.Just tried Novus and updated straight away to 80.15.Looks as though novus is the way to go.
  • I am having the same problem, I have (had) a 3 year subscription for Talex updates but now even despite the claims that updates are working my device is rejected. I am prompted to register (I am already registered) - when I put my details in again the software reports 'already registered' and kicks me off. I am stuck with update 7113 which is near to useless in Central London (changes week on week). Talex do not reply to emails or answer the phone (I've left messages). The Novus update utility still allows me to connect but only offers 7113. Really angry that I've lost over £100 buying this device and subscription.

Which Novus update / link did you use?

I've just used http://www.novusgps.com/delta.html for my talex, and it seemed to connect and update, and now shows as 8015, (it was 7113).

Not sure if this link is just for talex lite, however it seemed to work on my talex (which isnt the lite model).

Will check it out over the next couple of days and report back if it picks up some new cams.
  • Well the good news is , the NOVUS update is good and picked up all the cam sites and possible mobile sites too..(haven't been on the M56/60 roadworks yet to test update)
On the down side I think this is just a Talex Lite update as I now have lost the school locations off my full Talex, But as I've got the Cam update for free & as the unit was stuck on the 6055 database I'm happy for now as I've got 2 up to date talex's :j
  • my problems exactly as londonangel.Went to Novus site, downloaded new driver which appears to be same as existing one then downloaded updates with no problem.Suggest try again.Mine is original Talex (not lite) with 3 years subs.
  • Well my first Novus attempt was in December (when the announcement came that Talex had gone bust) - to date this connected successfully but with no new updates.

Then the email from Adam Blair stating updates were now back online via https://www.talex.co.uk yet neither my old utility nor the current one will allow me to connect. I have Full Talex not Lite.

Tonight I've visited Novus again and downloaded a third application (for their Delta device) and this appears to have updated my device! Good news I think!

What a mess these two companies (which appear to be the same individuals behind the original Talex company) have made of all this! I just hope the Novus/Delta update works and remains reliable - not holding my breath though after 2 months of nonsense :(

Anyone considering buying any device from either company I would advise to steer clear until the dust settles.

BTW this site provides a landline number for anyone still having problems http://www.adamblair.com/ (would you buy a used car from this man...?!)

You are correct Mike. I spoke to Novus earlier today, who confirmed that for those of us that have the Full system (ie not the Lite), the update does not have the Schools or SOS positioning (i also bought the full system + for my parents in case they broke down etc etc) - feel somewhat cheated as i may have well just bought the cheaper Lite version !

Mike (oe anyone else with a full system after updating via Novus) are you able to also confirm the following ? Does the Talex still have the compass, average speed, maximum speed and trip meter still working which were specific to the full system. ?

    Thanks
