Does anyone know when Embedded Technology went into receivership ?0

until it becomes clearer whats happening.
I think this is the statement to watch.
I have no problem paying the annual subs if the database is being maintained properly.
Let's face it, all he has to do is purchase a years subs to PGPSW and download the .CSV file regularly then KDiff the results and add the new cameras as they appear on there.
Dead easy really, no need for a dedicated team.0 -
Well I'm sad to say the latest update isn't worth JACK! just been on the airport run to Manchester & like I said in the previous post my GARMIN sat nav picked up the 40mph cams on the road works M56/M60 eastbound no problem as they did today, but guess what??
No such luck with the Talex it just sat there showing me how fast I was going. These Cams' have been up for 3 weeks that I know of so they weren't added to this update, (8014)
I'm now sceptical as to weather I'm getting my moneys worth for an active subscription. :mad:0 -
Hi Mike
Mmmmm, food for thought.
I really do wonder how many people got the email from Adam Blair the other day, then went straight to the new site and signed up, paying good money for what appears a p**s poor service.
I've checked, and my subscription is valid until June of this year, however based on recent events over the past few months, and postings on this thread, I'm wondering if I should just cut my losses and splash out on:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0390057/Trail/searchtext>ROAD+ANGEL.htm
Which seems a good price for this model, and I did originally have a road angel some years back which broke, hence I made the decision to buy a talex as it was cheaper, smaller, and got a good review on Auto Express.
Not sure whether to wait if the Talex issues get resolved, or look to buy something else.
The lack of any comments, and the fact no emails / calls are returned from Talex, and previous postings re Adam Blair do make me wonder if it's just one big scam.....0 -

my subscription runs to June or July too. I'm waiting for novus to get their act together (a lite database is promised soon - use the delta update to load in to the lite). On other forums they reckon novus has most of the old talex employees, so it's possible they might have a database more in line with the old one at talex that got them their good reviews and recomendations. For free it's worth trying to see how good it is before forking out again on new hardware.0 -
Has anyone purchaced the new subsription yet?0

Came across this on another board http://www.indic8tor.com/ any good?0

I emailed Novus yesterday asking when they would have an updated database, where the new Talex fitted in to the equation and also when Embedded Technology went into administration. I purchased a Talex Lite with three years updates on 24th October and they went belly up on 21st November.
The statement from Novus is shown below:
Thank you for your email, you will be able to download free lifetime updates from our Novus website www.novusgps.com under the Novus Delta product. At the moment our download area is not up and running with the latest information, we are currently making changes and this facility will be available by the end of January.
In response to your question when did Embedded Technology go into administration, this was on 21st November, 2007, and I hope the following information will answer your other questions:
NOVUS Systems is a professional company that has nothing to do with TALEX. It has at no time ever tried to pass itself off as TALEX. When TALEX went into administration it tried to maintain service to TALEX customers as it did not want to leave them in the lurch. The email sent from NOVUS systems was not spam mail but a message to TALEX customers that a professional company called NOVUS Systems was prepared to help and support TALEX Customers despite adversity.
NOVUS Systems has a very close relationship with the manufacturer of TALEX products and will be offering competitive products before the end of January. The NOVUS Delta which is equivalent to the TALEX Lite will be on sale before the end of January. NOVUS Systems will offer all customers free lifetime updates on its NOVUS Delta product. As the products are produced by the same manufacturer will mean that TALEX and TALEX Lite customers will be able to take advantage of free lifetime updates provided they have the USB download cable. We have been advised by the administrator that we cannot advertise the fact and will not widely publicise the fact.
We are unaware of any fraud investigation and have done nothing wrong apart from try and offer support to TALEX customers following the demise of the company in a professional manner.
We are pleased to announce the impending arrival of the new NOVUS Delta product. In addition we will be offering a new product called the NOVUS Alpha which will be available shortly. We will be providing regular updates and offer a well maintained database. Customers need to be made aware that the new laws regarding the illegal use of radar and laser detectors is expected to be implemented shortly. NOVUS Delta is a GPS only product and remains 100% legal.
If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

£200  plus I think the RA subs are quite expensive ?
You would be better (IMO) getting a TomTomXL and paying the £19 to PGPSW for a years subs there. If as you say you have found new cameras and can be the first to report them to PGPSW then you get a free lifetime subscription to their camera database which is definately kept up to date by all its members.
If Talex prove to be out of date then that will be my route.0
