:rotfl: Talex are up and running again for existing subscribers,
I telephoned them today after seeing the new web page.
Plugged in the Talex Lite hite the update utility Icon on my PC,
3 mins later got the update, no problems,:rotfl: :rotfl:
all smiles again seems as I wasn't ripped off as I thought0 -
Hi
I've been emailing Novus GPS for some time because after their first email about Talex, I went to their website and discovered none of the links worked. I asked them about this and they said they were still working on them. I have checked their site on and off since then and they now say the links will be active by the end of January. I haven't checked for a while.
A couple of weeks back I had an email from Adam Blair, founder of Talex, with some interesting info about average speed cameras. Now another email today offering updates. He is going to charge. Novus aren't, but who is kosher?!?
I have emailed Adam Blair to try and get some clarification from him.

Talex also informed me not to try and use any of the Novus links on their page, & ignore any emails too. maybe thats just because they're rivals.
I've had my talex for a while now, & they tell me nothing has changed with the product. I know for sure of some road works on the motorway nr to M/chester Airport with speed cams all along set to 40mph my talex didn't pick them up as it still had the old database installed (7113), but my GARMIN did, I'm of on the same route on Thurs morn' so the proof will be if it picks up the cam sites, smiles all round again for me if it works,
I'll keep you posted0 -
A very interesting thread.
I've had my Talex unit for a few years now after reading the first AutoExpress review. I wonder if my 3 years subscription that I purchased will still stand with Talex Technologies?
As many have said, these products are only as good as the database, so it will be interesting to see if Novus can maintain an accurate database without a revenue income from it. If the old Talex company bust, makes you wonder.
If Talex Technologies, are going to get the database back up and maintained, I wonder how they can survive without the hardware sales that the old Talex had. I suppose they can sell their database to more than just the existing Talex customers.
TomTom would benefit from it, as theirs is rubbish.
Either way, if the old Talex went bust with the income from both hardware sales (and I guess greatly boosted by the AutpExpress reviews) and the subscription income, I do wonder what prospects there are for the two new companies.0 -
Anyone else having trouble with the update for their talex?
I renewed my subscription in Sept 07 and should be valid until Jan 09 - but whenever I run the update it asks me to enter my serial number and security code - then I get a message saying the device is already registered and the update cancels! - then the on-screen log shows the "device registration failure"

Hi rw5373
Yes indeedy, just had the same issue, and came here to post a message asking pretty much the same question as you have..
Like you, I have a registered talex, with an active subscription, and when I try and update I get the same issues as you, ie asks for details, I enter details, then it dumps me out, and cant see any way of how to update the bloody thing!
D'oh - there was me thinking all the past weeks / months issues may be resolved, but it appears not..

Give one of these numbers a call 0845 2741110 or 0845 2711110.
Talex Technology Ltd. They were more than willing to help me as I also have an active subsription with them.
I now have the 8014 update but have to see if it locates these new cams' on the M60 roadworks on Thursday.
They did say evrything should be up and working for Friday this week.

if you look up the thread some of us updated with 8014 last saturday
according to the round robin email talex sent out 8014 is a quote "slight update" unquote on 7111 (the last old talex company update from early Novenber). What this means is unclear so please report back on your roadworks and see if it is picked up.0 -
See if this helps
I updated the update driver from this page before i downloaded the update if that makes any sense
