maybe they are updating... this happened when they went from supplying the talex updates to the current page .. Or maybe they are moving it all over to www.novusgps.co.uk which they also have registered0
-
Now all this means is Talex technology has to supply a database for old talex customers because they bought over embedded technology and novus has to do it as part of the deal with buying the talex hardware.
So unless another deal is reached there will be 2 database files as I was told today by both Talex and Novus...It just remains to see whos is best.
Sorry it is far less simple than this. I have stuck my neck out and given you a big hint. I leave it to everyone to make their own mind up. With all the possible legal crap going on in the background would I let any friends or family buy one........not on your life.......
Take it easy folks, watch your speed and keep the tyres on the blackstuff.:T0 -

And this could go on and on..Well my info is from both NOVUS and TALEX which I have to believe over someone who has provided NO PROOF of anything they are saying..
Roll on 23rd of January and we will see the situation then..
I notice you have now said POSSIBLE LEGAL ACTION... could it be you are not as informed as you are making us believe.. Earlier on you seemed more positive of it
Anyway .. last post here until the deadlines for the updates has passed..0 -
For anyone concerned about the updates who recently purchased a Novus GPS Rider - I returned the Novus GPS Rider today to an Aldi store 218 miles away from the one I purchased it at. I asked if I could get a refund, they asked if there was anything wrong with it, me being me didn't want to spend 10 minutes talking about the potential update problems so just said nothing I know of and I got a refund onto my card no problems.
I hadn't used the magnetic mount, returned it all in original packaging and took the time to wind up the cables using the folds already in them so that each fold was on top of the last, to try make it look like it hadn't been touched.
As I understand it you have something like 30 days from purchase, so if you have concerns now and can't really afford to risk the £60, I wouldn't wait for them to get their act together and start releasing updates - take it back. There's some sites selling them for £70 anyway.0 -
Well would you credit that. I got one off ebay in October for £20 !! Thought it was a bargain then and took out a 3 year update subscription !! Not so much of a bargain now
Hope something is sorted quickly as the last update I did was late October and I've already noticed some Camera Sites (Motorway road works) that are missing.0 -

I took my one back after a few days because the one advertised in the flyer was the GPS Rider and I got the Talex Lite. I always try to make sure when I buy something that I don't damage the packaging etc.Of course you sometimes have to tear open bags to get stuff but as long as you keep everything that was in the package. Some people buy something and immediately thow the box in the bin and then find later they want to return it.
When I returned mine they didn't even look in the box.0 -
I have been watching with great intrest the debate regarding Novus/Talex. I hear there is a new product that Novus is releasing called Alpha. Is that the same as the Talex Elite that I saw at the MPH show in November? It looked really good, but I am very concerned after reading your comments especially regarding the database. Does anyone have any opinions about this?0

The problem with the Novus products is that they are being used with the Talex database and the Talex Elite has just been rebadged as a Novus product when it is owned by Talex Technologies. Legal action by Talex against Novus would leave customers with nothing more than an expensive paperwight.
A quote from an ex Talex manager taken from the Skoda owners website says it all:
As the ex survey manager at Embedded Technology (ET) the former owners of the Talex brand I can report that things have been going wrong for some considerable time and started with a breakdown in the relationship of the 2 directors. One of whom was sacked.
As I am no longer connected with either of the two companies I would like to put a few things straight.
Creditors of Embedded Technology (of which I was one) blocked an attempt by the remaining Director to place ET under a CVA (voluntary administration) whilst starting a new company (Novus) to re launch Talex. In truth lack of trust was the main issue.
Once the CVA was blocked the Bank caused the company to be sold off. A new company not connected with Novus or the previous ownership of ET won a seeled bid for the Talex brand. That bid was for the company and all its products and assets.
After the sale was agreed!!!! Novus contacted ET customers making the offer of free updates. I will leave it to those who read this to decide why they should do such a thing. Whatever the reason in truth it had two results:
1. It helped raise the staus of Novus
2. It caused confusion for Talex owners who thought they had just received a free gift for life.
Anyway the administrators KSA at Gravesend stopped Novus and they retracted their offer. There was no good will as described by Mr Tong.
Trouble was the damage was already done and the poor Talex customers were no doubt left wondering what was going on.
As I have already mentioned the purchase of the Talex brand included all products and the database. The Talex Elite was advertised as the latest Talex product and that it contained the 'award winning Talex database'
Now it appears as a Novus product and no right to the database. How long before legal action is taken to stop this?
I do hope that the new owners of the Talex brand do their best to rebuild the status of the product as an 'award winning device'
They owe that much to the thousands of talex customers.
I could say a lot more but for the moment I thought it best to at least get some of the truth out there so people can make their own minds up.0
