Abandoned Landrover?

  • Well my first post on MSE and quite frankly will also be my last.

I would just like to thank Inspectorlund on behalf of all of those people who have recently had their Land Rovers stolen for giving them some false hope that the vehicle may have been theirs.

This thread, via facebook, made it's way to a recent victim of a Land Rover theft and gave them a glimmer of hope. It has equally made it's way onto the LandyWatch forum (on which I'm a mod) in the hope that just maybe it was somebody's pride and joy.

Some of you will know that there is a particular epidemic of Land Rover thefts, Defenders particularly at the moment

Okay so it turned out to be a Land Cruiser but it took 4 flaming pages to work out what was going on (and to be honest I'm still not sure I can fathom it all out).

As somebody pointed out early on in the thread, a lot of stolen vehicles are parked up somewhere random for a period of time whilst the thieves check to see if it's fitted with a tracker.

Rather disappointed that anyone in their right mind would consider the approach of 'I'll have that' rather than reporting the vehicle to the authorities.

I clarified it wasn't a Landrover as early as post 29 on page 2.

I wasn't aware initially of the problem of LR thefts, or indeed about the tracker thing, albeit this LC was so old it probably didn't have one. If I was, I wouldn't have posted as I did - or at all, if I knew how the story would end at the start.
