I have no speed issues either, just this site after the changes, like most other posters.

It can't be Microsoft's problem - Submitting posts/threads with hyperlinked text and using the advanced edit feature in IE9/Avant Browser worked perfectly until the January update.

    I'm with Painkiller,

It has to be a site issue not Microsofts, I'm still getting the same problem as reported several times before in this thread:
    • its still only on this site
    • And its since the first update

I must be using the most ancient laptop known to mankind, with a chunk of my husband's workload saved in several media files, occupying lots of space on my laptop. And still this site is superfast for me.

Btw I'm using the recommended fixed width version, not the one with more space. The reason being that I cannot recognise threads that I've posted on, on the latest version. When I undid my IE9 I ran fixit and it fixed all errors and also did a thorough speed check and solved lots of issues I had. Here it is, if you'd like to try that. Believe me, it helps.

Thanks, meher, could be a useful site, I've bookmarked it for future reference.

It found no current problems with my IE9, though. Ball firmly in MSE's court.

For speed issues - switch off and unplug router. Leave it well and truly alone for several minutes for the router to update and then switch it on.
Some older routers do slow down after a long time in use, and the old 'switch off, wait 10 seconds, switch back on' routine usually clears. It's nothing to do with 'updating', though. If you think about it, when it's switched off it can't do anything.

It isn't the (phsyical) router that gets updated, it is the application that gets updated. Even though the router is turned off, the application is still at work because it forms part of the cable.

may be it is useful to have a little techi guide or Q&A to deal with compatibility issues - I get the feeling that at least some of the issues is all about tweaking here and there on our end

I remember seeing a link to "travel money max" or something like that appearing in an url format, at the bottom on my page, struggling to load - it could've been the moving widgets on the side bar. So it is browser issues/compatibility issues. I think I don't have something called java built into my IE or a case of having a broken java. So the site used to struggle a lot. Fixit fixed it by the looks of it.

The site is still consistently slow and hangs and judders using IE8/Win 7. We have two desktop pc's and 5 laptops/netbooks between us, it acts the same on all. I also tried the site on an aunt's pc (IE8/Vista) when visiting and it did the same so I genuinely don't see how the issue could be at our end. :undecided

I have now put Chrome on my laptop and there is no hanging or juddering with that. The site speed is not as it was before the changes but it's much much better than when I use IE8.

As others have reported, it's only this site which I have problems with. All other sites I visit load normally.
