Well after searching this forum for months following the failure of my IVA (due to redundancy) I finally took the plunge and headed to the court yesterday and am now officially Bankrupt (wow scary seeing that in black and white).
I am a bag of mixed emotions right now -relieved that once again the creditors can't come knocking, but sad that it has come to this and that I have been unable to keep up my side of the agreement with the creditors I truly never intended not to pay back what I had borrowed.
The OR called yesterday to check some basic details - they had not received all my info from the court so i'm awaiting their call to arrange a time for the interview - really scared about going through everything with them I feel such a fool for the mess I got into, but as my user name says I'm now on the way up (hopefully!!!)

Please add me to the Feb BR club and I will try to keep you updated with my progress.

Hi and welcome:) the feelings you are experiencing are absolutely normal, but with time it does get better but be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions in the early days, use this forum and the peeps on here will help you all they can:)

Welcome to your new debt-free life!

If it's any help, I have just been to the CAB for some last minute advice and the wonderful lady I spoke to told me that she trains with Insolvency Practitioners and they genuinely do want to help people (creditors too obviously), but they've told her they're not there to judge in any way, so please try not to stress about your interview (she says!!).
Don't forget to let us know how you get on - best of luck

Hello am now officially bankrupt went to court today, all went very well and court staff were polite and helpful. Was very nervous saw judge and all he asked was if I had taken legal advice. Given piece of paper and told OR would be in touch next 24 hours all in all time from appt to seeing judge was 1 hour.

Mixed emotions, glad to be free of all the stress have endured for such a long time, determined to make a fresh start and know wont be easy it was the right thing for me. Be glad when have the OR call and get through all that. At end of day it was all on form and have been open and honest about everything. This site has been so helpful and thanks to all who have responded to my questions, doubts and panic attacks!!

Will keep checking in from time to time to offer support others and and through the years journey and what OR interview etc will bring.

Thanks for all messages and to onlyway is up. Yes feel so much better my daughter who was wit me said strain going of my face already ( will look years younger soon!!!). Really was impressed with the staff at te court not made to feel awkward or looked down on at all.

Still cant quite believe it like a previous post said you never expect to ever be in this position but changes along the way happen. Glad you got everything checked today and will be thinking of you tomorrow. That's good to know that OR does not judge and is willing to help. you

It a new start for so many of us this month and as was mentioned by sniggins will be able to answer my phone properly again and not dread the post as have done for so long. Get a good nights sleep and you will be fine tomorrow. Let us know. Jayk:j
