I spent a bit of time looking at the specs of a variety of android tablets. I was looking at a sub-£200 tablet. I eventually settled on this http://www.retailgadgets.co.uk/StealthX-Hydro-Tablet-10.2-Android-2.3-1.0GHz-ARM-Cortex-A9-Processor.html
It is actually a rebadged Zenithink ZT280 A9 Cortex (C91) - check out you tube for videos of it. Running Gingerbread, it performs really well WiFI and 3G connection, Streaming video (eg BBC news) and BBC iPlayer - more than happy with it. I got the case/keyboard as well (reduced price if bought with tablet).
Customer service is very good.
Have a look, I would recommend it.

IIRC thats quite a heavy/chunky one?
Im thinking I may grab a Xoom 1 at some point
I was going to go for the Samsung Galaxy tab 10"
however with the higher price and Ipad levels of connectivity,I've been put off0 -

Got one a few weeks ago and although I haven't used it to it's full potential, I'm loving it
Stock has been a major issue with the ASUS as it's only been officially released in the UK since the 12th.
I had a pre-order with Dixons (so same group) on the 4th Jan and they were awful.
They charged my card straight away but gave me no info on when it might be in stock.
Cancelled on the 12th and re-ordered from John Lewis (2 Yr Guarantee ) and it arrived 4 Days later0 -

I recently bought a tablet and I would have liked it to have been an Android one as I prefer the Android user interface and I don't like the closed nature of Apples products.
The deciding factor for me was the number of apps available on each platform. The number of tablet specific apps on Android is quite pitiful which means you could end up running a lot of apps that are designed for a phone size screen meaning the graphics can look rubbish and the layout might not be optimised to make best use of the space.
In the end I opted for the ipad and to be fair it is a good device - I'm quite pleased with my purchase.0 -
Got an ipad2 for Xmas as a prezzy, takes some getting used too, a big big mistake by Apple was not fitting a usb port, you are totally tied into Apple with this toy. It's not a laptop nor a pc/ Mac more like a glorified PDA, clever but you are tied into Apple completely.I manage to import some photo's & video clips from my pc, the pad will not play the video I can buy the Apple converter though, trying to now remove these clips is proving a big problem, take a look at the accessories you need to BUY, quite expensive.140,000 apps some free most are not, not silly these Apple people are they. Have a good long look at the opposition before you buy. Mine was a gift but if I had to give it back or replace it, would I buy another????!! Probably not."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

You should be able to get your videos to work - just convert them using an appropriate software - I use handbrake, its free:

I think you might be expecting too much if you think tablets should be like a laptop/desktop. Most tablets I looked at didn't have USB ports - I think most people can live without them unless they have a special requirement. Can't say I've had to buy any expensive accessories either - I just bought a generic case off amazon.0
