I finally plumped for the Mirai DTL-632V200 32" LCD which I got from Techfever for just under £385 delivered.
After setting it up and connecting my xbox 360 via a component HD cable I have to say I'm very happy with it. 720p resolution looks crisp and playing Burnout revenge on it was great. Put a DVD in my 360 and got an upscaled picture to 576p.
Sound is better than I was expecting and picture even from my NTL box and 6 year old panasonic cinema system is pretty decent also.
Sitting here watching the cricket over my shoulder whilst I type this and even from the angle I'm sitting at the picture is good.
Connections are nicely laid out at the back with scarts on one side and component HD/pc input on the other. Side mount standard components are in a good position also.
For £400 I don't think I could have done better, finally decided that the improved spec's and warranty of the Mirai were worth the price difference with the Hannspree or the AOC's that I've seen on here and AV forums.
I think the only thing that would make this Tv any better would be a nice black finish rather than the silver surround0 -
I've just reasd through all 14 pages, and some great info thanks.
I have just had a Philips Plasma sent back after blowing up after 9 months. I therefore have a philips compatible bracket on the wall!!
With the refund I was going to but the Philips 37" 37PF5521 at £699.99 (before 5% NHS and Quidco) as I know it fill fit the bracket I have on the wall.
I have no games console, and standard NTL box and DVD player, HD is not currently important, although I am thinking of upgrading to V+ in the next few months.
I have 2 young kids so wall mounted TV frees up space in the living room to play
I am now seriosuly tempted to order this Hanspree LCD now to save some money. Can someone confirm it should fit my wall bracket which is VESA compatible.
Currys offer 1 year warranty with an option for 'Whatever' cover for £5.99 per month, which I can take out anytime in the first year. Seems a good cheapish option.
Any advice or tips appreciated
Thanks

I've bought the Hannspree xv but one problem I have, has anyone managed to play streamed video from their PC (eg VLC, TVants or Sopcast) on this set. I just get a black box in the window even though it shows up on the laptop screen. All other PC video stuff works fine including youtube and media player. Is there a setting that needs to/can be changed?Val0

Re all the above posts about issues with LCD tv's - whatever happened to plug and play with a tv???The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0

Wow, i've also just read all 14 pages of stuff. Going to re-do my bedroom in a few weeks, want a medium size flat screen tv for the wall.
However i'm a bit put off........too many things to consider. Might need to do much more research before i plump for one. Glad I left lots of time!!!!!!One by one the penguins steal my sanity.0 -

I would wait another 5 years as all existing LCD/Plasma TV,s will be obsolete, especially the ones with built in Freeview.
MPEG-4 will be the new Freeview standard, and Sky has already applied to transmit their existing channels in this format, which will leave existing boxes/receivers with black screens.0
