Yes. Well kind of....
Mainstream HD content is encrypted (HD-DVD, BluRay, Sky + etc). I am wondering where the decryption takes place. My understanding was that only the HDMI and DVI (if fitted) understand HDCP hence making VGA useless for encrypted content.0 -
there is no HDCP on any HD outputs at present - ie none on sky+, none on HD DVD,s.
It may come in sometime in the future, but for now VGA and component connects carry HD signals.
the main point here is that this tv is 500 quid. any other 37 inch lcd is going to cost you about another 200 - 300 quid.
as was posted earlier HDCP compliant switches are £100 and coming down all the time.
by the time hdcp is in, these will be available cheaply - in much the same way scart block are now.0 -
Indeed I really don't see this an issue tbh. Even if HDCP in place its easily avoided with HDMI switches/Av systems.
Grrrrrrr Delivery man just pulled up but it was my new phone0 -
Not meaning to add to the growing list, but I can't wait to hear a bit more about this set when hooked up, as this set is just within my new TV budget...
Thanks in advance to the buyers who have said they'll post their feedback here.0 -

I ordered 2 tv's with 2 different addresses. They have sent them both to my FatherI hope it fits in the car.

Got mine delivered this morning (after ordering yesterday about 1pm).
Finally finished setting it up (took about an hour)
First impressions are very good and well worth the money. Picture quality is excellent (tried from a dvd player, a freeview box, Sat receiver over Scart and over the air). No smearing and a very colourful picture (the cebeebies test)
Not tried HD on it yet but will connect up my laptop later and fire a few demos at it.
Good points:
Excellent picture on SD
Good connectivity
Excellent price
Bad points:
Sound a bit lacking in depth
Remote control operation a bit slow at times
Switching between OTA and the various scart connections is a bit of a pain
Now to find a way of mounting it so that the kiddywink doesn't pull it over.
Overall I'm very glad with the purchase. They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.0 -
I am correct in thinking we dont have to register the product anywhere to get the Warrenty for 2 years ?
I dont seem to have anything in my pack to send off."The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
Yeah the remote doest seem the best it seems to almost freeze at times so it appears it doesnt seem to be working.
I still like my tv though even though I have not had much time to watch it.
My new stand arrives on Tuesday to complete the set..lol"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
Just set up my Dads but didn't have much chance to play with it.
SD content seemed quite good with RGB scart on NTL after playing with the visual settings. Dvd also looked well but didn't have time to tweak it to much.
I'll set my own up later today or tomorrow and have a good play with it. As mentioned above switching source isn't a one touch button but brings up its own menu using the < > keys to select an input (Minor thing tbh)
On first inspection seems like a good purchase! more to follow.0
