So I had an investigate as to why the electricity has SHOT up. We are nearly £300 in debt which I know it's winter and we will use more but that is ridiculous. So upon using a special gadget from personage at work I have identified the culprit .... The donated freezer uses a MASSIVE amount. As in 1.3kWh compared to the fridge freezer next to it at 2W and that explains the massive increase in consumption.
So upon investigation and a bit of planning we have managed to relocate the food into stomachs, fridge and both little freezers (just) and this offending item was ceremoniously disposed of at the tip today along with the carpet from the stairs and some empty tins and so on. The seal on it seems to be fairly stuffed too as I was treated to a cold foot shower when we moved it
DH seems to be covering slowly from the bout of gastro ickyness even a small amount of effort wipes him out and he is not sleeping very well at night within doesn't help.
Operation complete hallway before new carpet is fitted has commenced with a vengeance. Nothing like a deadline to focus the activist of energy expenditure. Of course there was an issue uncovered when clearing off the carpet .... And so we have to fix the issue.
I have also managed to complete my paperwork, sort some of DH paperwork, do 3 lots of washing, am about to attack the ironing, cleaned fish tanks, assist with DIY.
So hopefully we will have got rid of the energy sucker and we can up the payments a bit to clear that on DD.
Bad news on house remortgage ... The valuation came in very low compared to that provided by the two estate agents so can't get the product with the lowest interest rate. Blinking nuisance so have to redo the budget on the basis of the new repayment options.
That aside we will have lodger for a few night this week so little bit of money coming in for that! Not as much as wont be a full week but it all helps!
I am on a 4 day week this week and I am really looking forward to it.
Nothing happening for Mothers Day here. Was told she was off for the weekend and so didn't plan anything other than sending flowers and card. Then was told yesterday she isn't going away so tried to organise something to no avail.

Well this week is shaping up to reinforce quite why I need another job. Monday get to work and it is my fault that the delivery we have every Monday has not arrived before boss wants to park outside the door. This delivery has been happening every week since we have been here on a Monday but it is now a complete inconvenience for him all of a sudden and I have to change it. Needless to say I would not be actually doing this.
Monday night it snowed and the disaster that was the M23 was my nemesis .... eventually get back home and then Tuesday morning it was clear I was not getting anywhere quickly by car. Was told that I had to lead by example and there was no reason not to be able to get in as the Directors have 4x4. I said well that's good give me a company 4x4 then I will get in! I eventually made it in about 2 hours later than usual via train. I was being told if they didn't get in then it reflected badly on me as a manager and one of the managers who reports direct to said boss said "oh he told me as long as I have internet there is no problems with WFH" Lots of pointed comments when the director who lives up the road from me and who had said don't come in its too dangerous to drive in this weather made it in (an hour later than me) and then took me home on time as he had stuff to do. However the other members of staff who chose not to come on site and simply emailed to say will work from home - not a word said to them or about them ...... talk about double standards. Took opportunity to talk to other boss on way home and mentioned I felt it was unfair how I was getting the nastiness and rude comments he said "it does sometimes happen, ignore it and take it as a compliment that you are so relied on to keep the company moving". I have the opposite view - we can work from home and so in cases like this I can roll out the WFH policy and get more productive hours out of the staff on that day than them spend 2 or 3 hours trying to get in. Sadly I do not have the clout to make this work and he overrules me. Its a bit of an archaic attitude I think but hey I am sure there is logic there somewhere. There was nothing that happened on site which I could not deal with by email or phone and the technical stuff which I don't do anyway was all under control. Rant over sorry. It is clear he has expectations and methods of working which he is not prepared to even consider another option and so I have to accept this or change jobs. The really annoying thing is that if I make a decision (as I am supposed to) then it will be wrong unless I ensure all staff are in and any one who is late is disciplined. Different styles or what?
Have been worried about DH for a while - the gastro bug he acquired he has still not managed to get over - his temperature is up and down faster than a pair of tarts knickers when I FINALLY managed to persuade him to actually take his temperature is was 39.6oC!!!! So he has been told to get hold of the doctor and sort it out. Makes life a bit more complicated at home as all the work is down to me - not helped by the fact he does not even put dirty dishes in the dishwasher just on the side, and as we have a lodger I need to keep the house vaguely respectable. He used the car yesterday and noticed that the washer bottle was empty, didn't say anything so this AM I tried to clear the windscreen and couldn't cue a 20 mins search for the blinking screen wash which I couldn't get to as all the tools are all over the garage floor before I could then fill bottle up and safely drive.
We are supposed to be going out for the day Friday - if he is not a lot more well than he currently is that will be going by the wayside. I would rather he is better but I do really want to go on Friday too. Doglet is coming out in sympathy with DH - refusing to eat and being a drama queen about everything. Tonight I have to sort out all that is necessary for the carpet being installed on Thursday. And it's Wednesday so that means bathroom cleaning day - deep joy.
We have until Friday to hear about DH big R word ...... frankly I just want this week to be over and done with then I will know where we are and what has to happen. I feel I am treading water at the moment and I just want to get moving. It looks like the lodger may continue for a while so that is all good. I will be saving this money and using it for food and so on. We only have to provide evening food, plus tea / coffee.
And the reduced to £0.40 tuna salad I snaffled in MrT last night leaked all over my bag so now it smells of blinking tuna (BLERGH!) so I have spent 20 mins washing it and now it is on the radiator which I hope means it dries and doesn't smell. On the plus side I have managed to get 3 people's worth of food including top up pesto and tartare sauces etc for £32. We are accumulating a C0stC0 list of things I have to replace like there is only 1 bag of pasta in the loft and so on. Suppose I will have to just keep on going for the time being and hope something miraculous happens.
Right I now have to summon up the energy and enthusiasm to get my head into writing quality systems and processes mode and make some semblance of progress somewhere with this big !!! project that looms over me.Start info Dec11

Goodness me, you are having a frustrating time, Missrlr! ((hugs))
No idea what you can do on the work front except ask Boss-up-the-road to give you a lift while the weather's so atrocious [because you don't have a 4x4]. No-one can complain if you arrive with the Boss!
Re DH; the GP diagnosed a water infection instantly? Hmm. Hope he's right - if so the antibiotics will be effective within 48 hours, but it would be better if your trip out were a day later..
You should know by tomorrow evening whether DH will be up to it.
Fingers xxxed, eh?0 -
That is the annoying thing - I did ask boss-up-road for lift - he said he was not coming in due to weather! it was only when other manic boss started blethering on about it that he appeared - by which time I had already decided the lesser of two evils was to prove I was trying to get in!
Doc did POC test - pus and protein in said sample so reasonably convinced this is a sensible call combined with the hot / cold sweats and temperature which all indicate some sort of infection plus pain in kidney areas and general water work nonsense (Sorry TMI). It has been sent for more tests answers due tomorrow.

Sounds like your GP is one in a million; am very impressed, but concerned for your poor DH as well - hope Dr has given him something that will sort out the infection quickly.
But you're right, given this setback with treatment, DH definitely won't feel like a jaunt tomorrow..
What to do? A trip involving flights where the date can't be changed - have you got travel insurance, either directly or with house insurance or a bank account, perhaps? If not could you pass on the tickets to someone you care about, who would also benefit from a treat? ..Then at least you get creds for giving somebody else a lovely experience, and it's more likely another special thing will come your way (or so I believe, anyway - does seem to work).
