    Yeah no problem polly. :)

Eldest brief: black, white, gold and pugs
Youngest brief: leopard print and cats
My brief: will see them through their teenage years so i don't have to do it again!

It's not my style at all but I'm thrilled for them. They've had umpteen bedrooms that never really have been theirs. I've tried my best for them and thankfully they love what I've done.

  • Oh yes I do FUDS that was such a lovely giggly day, I'm just sad that we didn't manage a second meet up before you had to go back to the north again. You can so easily do the weight loss it's just not hard you just have to remember what you've decided to leave out of the everyday food. There are some super tasty low calorie and fat free things on the market these days, I love the Muller Light Yoghurts at 99 calories for a whacking big pot and the 1 calorie oil spray is such a boon in cooking. W8rose do a 0% fat fromage frais and all the big supermarkets are selling own brand 0% Greek yoghurt which tastes the same as full fat to me. I don't do bread, cake, biscuits but I do occasionally have a couple of rye crispbreads, I don't do sugar, sweet drinks, jam, honey etc. but I do use Truvia stevia to put on fruit and it's really nice. We eat very well with lean meat, chicken (skinless), salmon (Aldi is cheapest), fresh veg, fresh fruit, new potatoes and I use frozen veg and fruit as well to keep the costs down. We have a jacket potato a couple of times a week, I sometimes serve us long grain rice and once in a while we have a pasta meal. All I do is fat free/low fat, sugar free, low carb and use the cheapest meats I can to keep costs down a little. I thought the hardest thing would be not having cheese but I've discovered Laughing Cow triangles with cheddar cheese which are £1.35 for 8 and 25 calories each and very cheesy tasting for those times when cheese is a MUST! you can do it love, it's not hard. I'm not there with the BMI yet but I will be and then I'll have to learn how to stay there.....watch this space! xxx.

Your picture popped up as I posted, that room is FANTASTIC I should think the girls are blown away by it, well done all of you it's fab!!!
  • Fuddle, the room is beautful, well done The girls must be over the moon with it, and I think you are right it will last them into their teens.

    You are a clever Mam

    Candlelightx
  • Thanks Fuds . That's lovely and the style will last them as it's classic with their own little twist .

  • What a super room, Fuddle!

All this talk of Ikea is giving me withdrawl symptoms - our closest one is in Australia, as is our closest Aldi... Fortuantely we did stock up a bit before we moved here and we're still using the 19p each plates, bowls etc from our first house years ago. :-D
  • Hoglet I think your comment about Australia makes my journey seem pathetic . I know Scotland is still uk but NZ to Australia is mind boggling . I actually found the last tumbler from the 12 I bought when our store first opened in the drainer the other day with a big crack in it . It had obviously been hit by something else but I felt quite sad . They lasted all the growing up years and were dropped and survived until one by one they either broke or as I've often suspected silently packed when various offspring were moving out .
The ones I bought are a few years ago are much bigger and heavier and not as user friendly as the originals .
Not long to the bike ride now .

  • Well that was interesting I was about to reply to Candlelights post earlier and all the electrics went off . They were cutting briefly earlier today but have taken some time to come back on this time . The laptop was plugged in and charging so I've had to go through crash dump etc to get back online . Positive is I don't panic any longer and know what to do .
Anyway Candlelight you sound much more like yourself today . I'm crossing the fingers you remain appt free apart from the retinal one .
Post viral does affect many people but if you have autoimmune conditions it's very likely .To us they seem like the original virus but even longer lasting .I had begun to wonder about HWK as I know he has Psoriasis which is an autoimmune condition . DD has the double whammy of autoimmune and a medical lowering of her immune system via the methotrexate .
You seem to seem to have done a lot today so that must make you a lot happier . I agree with all about the Marks tshirts . I stopped buying them a few years ago as the quality had gone . I have some from the 90s which are as good as the day I bought them . Last year dd tried the new range and then I bought some myself . They seem more like the ones I used to buy . I can see some improvement in m&s but quite a way to go still .
As for discussions about hairdressers today , my hairdresser has been unavailable for nearly a year . My regular of many years was moved 20 miles away and I just wasn't up to the travel . She understood pain completely so there wasn't any do you want a treatment etc . Although she was manager and chief stylist she always washed my hair herself as well as cutting and styling and would give me all the breaks I needed during washing , cutting and blowing . Towards the time before she moved about 8 years ago it was becoming very painful to have either the back or forward wash . I didn't look for a salon dd is a trained hairdresser . Sadly her hoped for career was unsuitable as her condition worsened and her mobility and ability to stand problems made it impossible . As mine was already in a graduated bob from short at the nape to just below chin length she could trim it quickly after I'd washed it so she could cut it wet . I discovered the wonder of the rotating babyliss brush and could leave it to dry, add some mousse section and dry . That worked well until last year when her health declined so badly . So at the moment my hair is below my shoulder and strangely the same length all round , I've added a medium and small rotating hot brush and dd has the larger one now . Once something improves she will sort it but for now it is what it is .
Gosh I've rambled on . Our weather warning is on a higher level now and it's already wild out there so I shall not go out tomorrow but wait for Friday .
Take care and stay warm everyone
    Much love

Pollyanna don't be too hopeful about Warrington Ikea, their store has changed from an easy, quick-if-you-know-it layout to a non-easy, 2-level maze. I've been to Warrington, Cardiff, Leeds & Manchester, DH has also been to Birmingham, Gateshead & Glasgow in search of kitchen units!

Aww Fuddle, the girls room looks absolutely fab and will no doubt see them well into their teenage years.
All ok here, my eldest SIL unexpectedly dropped in a while back for a cuppa and a chat, she's a real sweetie and we had a good catch up, good to see her.
Time for my bed, night all.
  • I'm so behind. I have pages of posts to read:on stupidly busy at work and off South tomorrow so just popping in to say hope everyone is well and to congratulate Fuddle on the new place. I kept the little verse below from a card when we moved in:

    Under this roof,
    May happiness abound,
    May laughter and joy,
    In every room be found,
    May good health and wealth,
    Move in to stay,
    And good friends and family,
    Always call your way!

I'll try to return towards the end of the week - surely I'll have my life in order by then:)
