Ooh Lyn, you do sound so happy what with your weight loss and haircut :) It's always gratifying to meet someone who likes horses and dogs, easy conversations to be had with common ground like that. Lucky lady with four horses and a baby one on the way, love a Welsh cob as they have true spirit.

Have just tackled Mount Ironmore and all finished, I moved the ironing board into the spare room so that I can watch all the birds in the feeders whilst I iron, find if I watch TV or something it takes twice as long and that isn't good!
Now sitting enjoying a cup of bovril before starting on the kitchen, the wind has dropped here but it's still wet and grey so a day for staying in I feel, do have a bit of a headache but that could be because have re-started on the BSD and having to wean off the sweet stuff :rotfl:
Have fun at Ikea Lyn, hope everyone else is doing ok and staying out of the stormy weather x
  • Hi everyone,

Somewhat overcast here today, but have managed to do several jobs I have been wanting to do for some while. Several cupboards in the kitchen have been sorted, all plastic boxes put in one fabric contaner bought from Ikea many years ago. The one you can collapse with a zip on the bottom. It is amazing how many plastic lids I found but not the boxes, so those have been put out for the bin men. We also have a store room, off the back porch, which at one time would have been the coal house and unfortunately became a bit of a dumping ground. This has been cleared, stuff thrown away and all now very tidy.

The young man who is going to do our block paving has asked if he can come one day this week to rip the decking up in readiness, but said he will phone the day before.

Lyn, I am off to the hairdresser tomorrow, doesn't it feel good when you have a girl who listens to you. My last hairdresser never did what I asked, but this young lady is a dream, and she was the one wh cnvinced me to grow my colour out. I am so pleased with my silver grey now, and I have had several compliments.

Did you manage just to buy the one item from Ikea Lyn, or were you tempted?:)

Lainey I love M&S T shirts, the fabric is quite thick and keeps it's shape. I bought a black, olive, khaki and a white. I haven't worn them yet but something new to look forward to in spring.

Fuddle how are you? Are you managing to get one or 2 rooms ship shape? You just need the sale of your Mum's house to go through now and then everything should be smooth running for you.

Polly we have no medical appointments this week you will interested to know. Next week I have my yearly retinal screening, this seems to come round very quickly, and no blood tests until next month. Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing untoward happens. I hope you and DD are managing, I hadn't heard of post viral. I have never known a virus to be so debilitating, I think when you have underlying health issues it's effect is twice as bad. Take care both of you, at least you are now in touch with the outside world :):)

    Have a good afternoon

  • Afternoon everyone, not so nice weather here today grey but not chilly and as of now not wet though we are expecting some rain later on. Cookie is on her hols for a couple of days but I have Maisie for the day and am off with her to meet Sue and Charlie retriever for 1.30 for a nice walk today.

Anyone else have one set of inconsiderate and selfish neighbours? One side of us are the nicest folks you'd ever want to live next to but the ones on the other side have been a thorn in our side since day 1 of living here. The gap between thought and deed doesn't exist so we've ended up with some shockers over the years. At 7 this morning I was rudely awakened by people shouting and machinery outside, next door are having their paved drive re paved and at & there was a very large lorry outside unloading many packs of bricks/tiles and the driver and the crew doing the job were exchanging banter, at full bellow!!! The noise the ones laying the new materials are making is unbelieveable and they seem to spend as much time sitting in their van as they do working. Next door didn't even tell us it was going to happen just like they didn't tell us last week they were having all the flat roofs on their bungalow re-felted and the work crew up there was in direct line of our bathroom window for 4 whole days, not good when you're having a shower. I'm looking forward to a time in the not so distant future when perhaps we'll go a little further west and find ourselves a new home with more peace and quiet around it than this one has!!!

Good news today is He Who Knows is on the mend big time, he even walked to the shop this morning to get the paper and some milk and he wouldn't have been able to a couple of days ago, big improvement!!!

Those palletts the bricks are delivered on are really useful though Mrs LW. T'would keep a smart pile of logs off the ground for instance....

Hi LIVING PROOF indeedy pallets are super useful and when they age and break as they do make super kindling. Our woodstore is 16 of the larger crates that paving slabs and big rocks are delivered to builders in, stacked double height and in the passageway in the lee of the house so they are aired but protected from the worse of the rain. He Who knows has made loose covers from heavy plastic sheeting and these are on the fronts held down by bungee elastic, works well as storage and all free as is most of the wood in them, love it!!!

LAINEY oh did I 'eck only buy one thing!!! howsomever what I did but we needed so it's all OK!

CANDLELIGHT the delights of a hairdresser who not only listens but can then translate my gibberings into exactly the style I want AND talk horses and dogs gets my vote any time! she was lovely!

POLLY I'm spoiled as the bus stops directly outside the entrance to the shopping mall that Ikea is on the other side of in the city so I can walk under cover from the bus stop into the store. I know all the cut throughs and short cuts now so I can get to the department I need without having to do the whoile round trip, makes shopping there so much more pleasant. I'm sad that they aren't more disabled user friendly but our store has big internal and external lifts from the ground to the 4th floor so it's maybe better than the nearest one to you? I saw quite a few folks in wheelchairs in today, even the furniture in the caf! lends itself to their comfort as it should but it's very nice to see!!!

    Having a cuppa Hoorah!!!

Mystified as to why the word c a f e is filtered as an obscenity??? anyone know why?

Mrs LW congratulations on your new haircut. The ones who will listen are worth their weight in gold and a new haircut makes you feel like a whole new person. Also really well done on the weightloss too.

I had a bad experience with a new to me hair dresser earlier this year, which I wrote about in one of the threads in O/S. I won't bore you with all the details but suffice to say after asking for just the ends trimmed I left with hair at least 4 inches shorter :(

No scissors will be getting within an inch of my hair anytime in the next 6 months.

I am also blighted by inconsiderate noisy neighbours on a daily basis. I honestly do dread them coming home and am often woken by them in the early hours of the morning. They are the type who are completely oblivious to the amount of noise they make and more significantly, don't care.

Afternoon to you all. I do enjoy reading everyones posts :)

  • Lyn you've started me thinking now . Apart from the one we visit I've also been to Edinburgh , Glasgow and Leeds stores and at least one of those had short cut options so maybe it's down to the layout . My son who's like a walking sat nav and king of the short cuts could not beat the you will have to go all the way from A-Z . Same for eldest daughter who when living in Dublin could commute to Cork in much less time than the native population . So the Warrington store layout seems to have a problem . I haven't been for a few years so maybe they've changed it .
I'll post later I'm still trying to get hold of the Consultants secretary . Talking of hair I need to wash mine , now that is something I struggle with .

You have a treasure there in He Who Knows all right!

I feel properly deprived. I have never in My Puff been to Ikea!

Remember the day we shared the big blue bag under cover from Ikea to the town to meet up with DH and the girls Lyn... full of glass storage jars! I don't do things by halves sometimes eh?

A BMI of 25 is superb Lyn. You really are a credit and an inspiration. I know mine is somewhere near where yours was only a few months ago. Who knows maybe a small kitchen might help out a bit... although not tonight as we're heading to Ikea for some shelving units (and our tea) for the understairs cupboard (that is yet to be an understairs cupboard as needing boarding by DH) and won't be in place properly because we need to let the damp work replastering breathe but I need to get my stuff organised and put away so this is a start.

I do have the girls room ready to show you. I'll go kick them out so I can take a picture to show you all.

We have signed the contracts for Mam's house and the buyer is apparently signing his at the solicitors today. Completeion is due on Friday but I'm prepared it might not be. The auction process has been stress free and quick thank goodness.
  • Fuds can you leave the picture up for a little while as I'm working between the forum , landline and emails at the moment trying to sort out the hospital problem .
I'll be back in between .
