Candlelight you were very brave to venture out today . I hope Doris is moving away now . She's moving on here as I post . The temperature is dropping like a stone and feels like -5 out there now according to local weather readings .
Our council posted online yesterday that bin collections were to be cancelled for today , not my day anyway but they and emergency services asked not to put bins outside . We have trees down , damaged buildings and travel disruption and closed roads . Emergency services are run ragged .
I haven't been outside yet but think I got away lightly , if there's any concern someone will check the roof at the weekend but I can't see any slates on the ground . Will wrap up before it goes dark and check with the binoculars the visible parts of the roof and the gutters .
I don't fear the wind much these days as I'm used to storm force winds but that was something else .

Sorry to hear about the damage that Doris is causing, stay safe everyone. You're all very welcome to come and take refuge in NZ but I will caveat that with warnings about our weather here! Last week we had wind and rain all week (this is summer) and we have very powerful thunderstorms too.
Much love to Fuddle and Lainey.0 -
Think we got off very lightly down here although we had some very strong winds this afternoon and at times Cookie, Sue, Charlie retriever and myself were stopped in our tracks by a gust and even pushed sideways. No damage that I know of but getting very cold here now so we've lit the stove although we waited until the winds started to subside before we did so. Hope all is OK with all of you further north xxx.0

The wind is finally dying down a tad but it's been ferocious here, when we drove home at lunchtime there were a number of trees down and a lot of debris on the roads. It was coming from the west so straight across the fields and our house was the first thing it hit, little Tilly couldn't really stand up in it, scary!
Hope all ok x0 -
It's settling down here on the Lancashire coast, but was pretty scary earlier. I went to @sda and almost got blown over as I turned from trolley to
car-boot with a bag of eggs, cream & milk to make family-weekend ice-cream
Just had roasted veg & pasta for tea, DH is "making space in the freezer" by making us banana splits for pud!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Glad nobody has any damage from Doris. I left Glasgow airport just after 7 this morning in a complete blizzard having been held on the runway for an hour. Just after I left the main motorway nearest to our home was closed completely.
It may not have been snowing in London but it sure was blowing a hooley as we say up here. I had a 90 minute roller coaster ride of a flight and a spectacularly hard landing at City airport. Thrill seekers pay good money for that kind of experience at a theme park but it seemed some passengers didn't appreciate the excitement:) I'm a fairly chilled flier so I wasn't fussed.
I did begin to wonder if I would get home ok however I'm back. A bit of a delay but I got here in the end so sitting down with a cuppa now.
Stay safe everyone.0 -
Morning all . It's the calm after the storm here . Very cold but for now the sun has got his hat on , heavy rain is forecast for later .
I'm about to drag myself into the shower and get ready for shopping , picking up some meds and doing all possible while I'm out .
Good to catch up SM , that flight would have scared me silly .
Have a good day all see you later .
Floss I've be wondering if you managed to get the kitchen units in the end .
Thanks for the info on the Warrington store I don't think I'll be heading there again :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Morning all, much better day here too with milky cloud and blue sky showing through and some early sunshine, wind has died right down to a breeze. I'm stuck indoors waiting for a phone call from the GP who wants to talk to me about the blood test I had on Monday, no idea what it could be but they couldn't pin down a specific time for her to call me so I have to be here all morning!!! Going to try to get He Who Knows to meet Cookie and I half way round our walk and do the downhill bit back to the village this afternoon, he's feeling much less sore but his stamina has suffered with inactivity and I think it will do him good to be out in the fresh air and have a little stroll. Trying a new to us recipe today called 'Tiffin Eggs', think scotch eggs but instead of sausage meat outsife them it will be a carrot based spicy forcemeat then they are rolled in chopped nuts and oven baked sounds nice, we'll see. I might as well put my enforced stay in this morning to good use eh?
Hope all is well in the aftermath of dear old Doris and no one has damage to fix, SM don't folks react to a bumpy landing???0 -
Morning all, it is so calm here now and very quiet.
We are off out shopping shortly, just waiting on Himself. He didn't have a good night he kept having cramp in his leg. He has to pick up his prescription from Bo*ts today so he is going to ask the pharmacist if one of his new tablets could be causing it because he has had it several times recently,
Lyn perhaps because you have lost so much weight your cholesterol is really low which has shown in the bloods. I am sure it can't be bad news you have done so much to be fit and healthy.
Have a good day all

Hi Candlelight, I must admit to feeling as fit as a fiddle these days, so much more 'ping' and what appears to be 'tiggerish' energy too. I had a chat with Ruthie yesterday and she was very reassuring so I'm not on the ceiling worried, just mystified as this is a first for me, every blood test I've ever had before has been standard!!! I'll find out later on !0
