Mind you, some of our OS threads come close to being a good farce sometimes......

Is it a bit mean to laugh at a farce? :D it's a bit like when I can find someone's misfortune (within reason!) funny. I do feel mean but a good tummy laugh can sometimes only be reached when tickled with something out of the ordinary. Did you do a good tummy giggle Lyn?

Polly you aren't 'alf having a pickle of a time with your landline. Any idea when you'll be up and running g again?

How are you doing candlelight? So many people ill at the moment and immune systems seem to be falling foul to so many different strains of not-very-niceness.

Monna, have you got the plaster dust washed out of your hair yet? My walls have been wrecked to a metre and a half up with the majority either on the floor or will be settling on the floor for months to come. Add to that the mess from replastering and skimming to look forward to tomorrow, we're getting there but by gosh what a mess the damp proofing has caused. Quick whistle stop update:

Walls wrecked, walls waterproofed and insulation treatment applied. Walls replastering just need skimming tomorrow. Stove install begins tomorrow. Girls' room complete. Their high sleeper beds are assembled. It's looking good just need to get the curtains up and dress it, unpacking g all their stuff. They won't see it until it's completely finished. My bedroom complete. Carpet went down yesterday. The window crack is enjoying a relaxing meander across the pane. My window sill is dinted, sanded, knotted and ancient looking but with my varnish I couldn't be happier with it. Took it back to it's beginnings and looks like it's 150 year old journey. Much like the feel of the wonky old house. The bedroom doors were too much to strip by hand so are currently with a stripping company. We should have them back in a week. My neighbour is talking to the person who runs the allotment at the back of the house (who is also a neighbour) about contacting allotment holders who aren't active to see if we can get a plot sooner rather than later.

The contracts for the sale of mam's house are now in the hands of the buyers solicitors so all is calm and moving with that.

All in all we're tired but thriving seeing it all come together. All the work will be completed on Thursday when the big clean will begin to get us moved in at the weekend. Nearly there my friends. :)

Plaster dust washed out fuddle. Rolling up my sleeves for the big clean up. Buckets, mops, rubber gloves, sugar soap etc all packed and ready for the big clean up.

Oh my darlings, I wish I was really there to witness the Triumphal Entry.

Lyn, Nargle and any other amdram afficianos out there. The funniest production I ever saw was years ago. It was a boys school production of Macbeth. Not meant to be funny at all, I seem to remember from my 'A' level studies that Shakespeare wrote it as a tragedy. He must have been revolving at some speed if he saw what those boys made of it. By the end, most of the audience were all but on the floor, ribs aching and helpless with laughter. The more baffled and uncomprehending the actors grew at the reactions they were getting, the funnier it became. I remember it with fondness.

I am still battling to make this house presentable enough to sell. I am NOT helped by a four year old with enough clothes and toys for a sizeable children's home, a darling DIL to whom 'tidy' is a dirty word,a huge, smelly, old, beloved dog and a maniacal, incontinent, ricocheting off the walls, four month old puppy - Dora the Destroyer.

I WILL GET THERE. Hopefully by the end of Feb.

  • We laughed until we cried pet, very therapeutic is a really good laugh and it started with a few of the actors before the play even started asking if anyone had seen a dog? going round the audience asking people to look under the seats and make squeaky noises to see if he was there and would come out. It was such fun!

Ruthie had all her doors dipped and stripped when they moved last year and they look amazing now, really nice old pine and in keeping with the age of the house. Love the sound of the window sill, 150 years old and still going strong eh? Looking forward to that post saying you're IN and staying with a great deal of pleasure.

Brilliant news on mums house, the sooner that is all over and done the sooner you will be able to step on with your lives. Also brilliant stuff with your neighbour checking on the allotments for you it sounds as though you've found a real community with good people in it to live in, as it should be love, safe haven after an adventurous voyage over the past few years.....happy landings!!!

Hurrah hurrah for Fuddle, how absolutely fantastic for you all, you have certainly been busy x

Sorry been mia a bit the last few days, have to say that have been struggling this week, am fine for a while and then it's like I'm poleaxed with grief, guess it's just something that need to go through.
Tomorrow we are going over to clean up DM's bungalow ready to hand the keys back in, it's been a tough old job clearing it all down and in one way I cannot wait for it all to be over, in another it's the end of an era and all that entails.
As always my darling man has been a total rock, always there with a hug or shoulder bless him :) also realise that have neglected my friends over the last few months so have been making tentative plans to get my social life back on track and actually see people rather than just text or email. They are lovely people and understand of course.
Need to read through and catch up on everyone's news, love to all xx
