West or east? I used to go too. To both but one is livelier than the other IIRC
Almost exactly in between VJsmum. My best friend and her husband had a small holiday bungalow in Marine Drive West and we had it for a fortnight every summer.
My boys have since holidayed in much more exotic locations but both admit that when the word "holiday" is mentioned their minds go straight to Wittering.
For what it's worth, we were next door but one to Father Joe's bungalow. If any of you have the book "Call the Midwife" there is a photo of Father Joe in there. Every summer he used to bring children from the East End down to the bungalow for a holiday.
Most, if not all, the little houses have been pulled down now and replaced with huge modern affairs. Last time I was down there, there was just the converted tram and one of the railway carriages left.

Morning all, by 'eck it's chilly out there these days, He Who Knows has been putting the heating on when he first gets up to take the chill out of downstairs it's -2 out there at the moment brrrrrrr!
We're going out for lunch today to the mill I went to on Tuesday with Sue, the food they were cooking smelt delicious and the menu read well, short and vegan but interesting. I think I'm going to try a beetroot burger, I really like beetroot and it's in season now and substantial as an ingredient. I think He Who Knows will go for the Noodle dish as he likes oriental flavours and the coffee was superb so I'm looking forward to it very much. We're going to combine going with a trip to the farm shop for some veg and to the farm butchery for a joint to cook on Sunday and give us cold meat to use during the week next week. Love that kind of week when I can reheat in gravy, make a shepherds pie, have cold meat in sandwiches and end up with the scraps either being rissoles or in some thick soup, no waste and lots of flavour!
Cookies mum and dad were away yesterday the pub has been nominated for South West pub of the year by the brewery chain and last night was the award ceremony so I'll be excited to see how they got on when I pick her up for a walk at lunchtime. They won it the year they took over the business here but as mum said 'after that it's always the bridesmaid and never the bride' so we'll see!
Stay warm pickles and think of spring, it helps in January weather xxx.
I had the Holy Moly Chilli instead and was very impressed with it as it was served with cashew cream, tomato salsa and chick pea tortilla chips, utterly delicious. He Who Knows did have the Kung Pow dish but with rice not noodles and loved it. I might have found a new favourite place to eat!!!0 -
Just popping in from someone elses home as shortly after my post yesterday my landline went down - not unusual in this area but it hasn't come back  no landline , no internet cue a very unhappy polly .
We arrived at the surgery at 9.45 this morning to learn all appointments had been double booked and chaos reigns . Poor doctor was working his way through double the usual number of patients . He finally saw us at 11.00 and sorted everything including the injection . The staff had been trying to contact me since early morning on the landline to warn me of the problem but were getting line busy message . My old mobile hasn't been used for ages and couldn't be revived so today has been a long day between going to town for meds , travelling further afield to source an emergency mobile and all the other stuff needing doing .
So I don't know when I'll be back on the thread . Can't face the madness of dealing with bt at the moment so will at least get the weekend over and calm the frazzled mind .
Hope all are well . Beautiful patchwork Fuds , I bet that's the one and only time you do squares that small
Thinking of Lainey x
Take care all
polly xxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Aw Polly kick that stress away! Not only will I never do squares that small again I will never do a patchwork again. I hope I don't ruin the actual quilting again.
Lyn yummy, yummy, yummy. Let us know how your local gets on.
I'm afraid I post that I'm on antibiotics. My chest is turning. I'm tacycardic and breathless. I'm to go back to the surgery in the morning so they can check me over and possibly send me hospital bound if I get worse. I could do with some of those vibe thingies.0 -
Stay warm pet, rest up, take the meds and let us know how you are tomorrow, good luck small one! xxx.0

I got to come home
my heart rate has reduced slightly and as long as it continues to fall I can stay home.
My chest sounds are completely clear so he doesn't think it's pnemonia again but Iim going to walk in xray next week. I told him I was inclined to agree because I couldn't hear the crackle when breathing this time but I could hear bubbles on occasion. He said it sounded like a tightness or pressure in my chest. Cue the talk about any stress in your life and subsequent 'it all makes sense nod' Anxiety, asthma, acid reflux and a cold it most probably is but I'm to continue with my antibiotics just in case. Asked if i needed anxiety meds i declined. They reduce my heart rate so I would never know what is real or not. I explained that I'm in a position where I feel I can calm myself down and relax because I essentially have nothing to worry about.
So that said I'm being careful and relaxing. Mam's house? Sis is dealing with it. I will get involved when what I want comes into play i.e. auction. Until then she can reap what she sows. I know that sounds callous but I've had enough.
My house? The solicitor has looked at the searches and passed a tape to the girl who we talk to to type it up. The girl said that the solicitor hadn't mentioned there was a problem so that's a positive and to call Mon to, all being well when she hears the tape, to talk about dates for signing contracts. DH will deal with that.
I have put all the gubbings from Hairy Bikers dieters in the slow cooker for lamb tagine. I know, i know it sounds disaterous but im hoping cornflour will rescue me at the end. DH is housewife otherwise though.
As I lay this morning I was thinking about items I would like in my new home. I havent really got decorative items as don't like clutter (plus psychological effect from losing my own home years ago) but I'm letting it go and thought about useful decorative items. I thought about the candlestick holder my grandma used to have and found a pottery replica on ebay. It's from Grayshott potteries. Do you know of it Lyn, I think it's your way on.
I also bid and won an ivory 100% linen shirt from M&S for £1.20 so will add that to my summer 'longevity' clothes collection.
As you can see I'm having a whale of a time relaxing. Naughty that I'm using retail therapy but I don"t feel guilty because I've been savvy.0 -
Fuds sounds like you are enjoying being a lady of leisure and have handed out tasks to all! Good decision on the house sale - you are one of two beneficiaries, only fair that the load is shared2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
