It was lovely to wake up to sunshine again but bbrr is it cold.

Sleep is elusive, as busy as I can keep myself during the day, at night all the realisation of what has happened over the last few months comes flooding back and stops me dropping off until the early hours. Am trying all the usual tricks, avoiding caffeine, blue screens, placing lavender under pillow, herbal sleep remedies, guess its something I will just have to work through
Another tough day today as need to pick up DM's clothes etc from the hospice and then on to register the death, literally scuttled into the bungalow yesterday, grabbed the document file (thank you darling Mum for your organisation) and scuttled out again. BUT, it's a HA property so it will need to be cleared sooner rather than later so might be time to pull on those big girl pants and crack on.
Talking of which another one here who would rather have buy one good piece of quality clothing than a myriad of cheap garments. Hate to think how old some of my stuff is but I care for them as best I can, use the correct washing liquids etc and make sure that the cost per use ratio is well in my favour. Plus being of a ahem certain age natural fibres seem to cope better with those sudden power surges.
Right, no more procrastinating, time to start the day.

Lainey how long do you have to clear a HA property? I wouldn't want to share what we had to sort through with Mam but the prospect was more daunting than the relality. Sis and I and our DH's set to, dealing with what came our way both physically and emotionally. The worst part was the waiting to do it. Doing it was bizarrely ok. I wish for to to be able to raise a smile with a memory Lainey. You'll be alright.

What a pig of a day with estate agents. Everytime we ask to get the house on auction we're met with another viewing. The cycle is causing me to be extremely cynical and Sis is in agreement. There's supposed to be a second viewing with a builder tomorrow. We've said that if there isn't an offer made by Lunch time Friday we want to move over to auction. It would be easier if something came out of tomorrow but am I 'eck faffing away another week. Sis and I are in agreement that we take our luck on Auction and put a stop to the EA game. It's really getting us down.

I did make a sausage plait as need to start using up the freezer contents. All frozen fish was put into a fish pie. I did regret starting it though. I forgot how much effort fish pie making is. I yearned for my Slow Cooker at about 4.20pm :rotfl:

I picked up a Boden skirt this morning in purple cord for £2. I am hopeful that it will get my money back at least because there's watchers already. The mummies in my old little Dorset town used to wear a lot of Boden so I hope I've played it right. I have 6 items on and plan to go further a field to hunt for more on Friday as I'm meeting a little old lady (she's actually a relation of my brother in law who tried to help mam find god all last year) for coffee. I am wary only because I am dipping my little head into the bible to read wisdom of my own accord and if religion is pushed at me I know I will recoil.

I didn't get to take a pic of my quilt top but hopefully tomorrow. :)

TBH I'm not sure yet Fuds, they are first on my list to call tomorrow morning but I am presuming no less than 2 weeks, hopefully 4 which is the period of notice required on the tenant's side.
Today went as well as possible, all paperwork complete and hopefully we have sufficient copies of the certificate to satisfy everyone. The next big thing is the meeting with the funeral director on Friday afternoon.
Have decided to make a start on the bungalow in the morning, no time etc and I just feel that doing it in small chunks would be better than committing to a whole day over there, will make a start on the kitchen first and leave the more emotive jobs for further down the line. Capt S has promised to come with so hugs will be on tap when needed.

Fuds When my mum died she was 4 weeks in advance with her rent, so we were lucky enough to have that time to clear her 4-bed home & garage.

Lainey Things will start to get a little easier with some sunshine & brighter days this dank weather is not pleasant.

Mrs LW We went to watch Sale at Toulon - can't beat a bit of Med sunshine in January!

I'm hoping today wasn't too painful Lainey . It's so hard dealing with all these things when still in a state of loss and exhaustion . I wish some sleep for you , you're already doing all the things that should help towards sleep but your heart , body and mind have been shaken badly and it will take time to become more level . I remember all the sleepless nights dear Fuds endured , it goes with the territory but once all the time critical things are dealt with things should calm gradually .
I was thinking today about the cauldron with Bills shoes . Maybe when things are easier you could make that a memory pot for your dear mum . dad and brother similar to my suggestion a while back to Fuds . Just baby steps love , one step at a time xxxx

The Boden skirt should sell well Fuds . You sound like quite a budding business lady :) Your brain is always whirring isn't it ?
My youngest picks up wonderful high quality clothes in charity shops . I've only managed one pure wool coat in all the years I've wandered them with her . I have a hard time just finding small enough clothes on the high street . When the per una brand was first on sale in m&s I would buy with hope only to be back at the returns desk a few days later . I even wrote to George who introduced the brand as did my eldest daughter tall and slim like me . Lovely replies but nothing changed .
Very wise to put the deadline on the house sale . It will be down to money which is better in your pockets than estate agents .
I do hope Candlelight and family are ok .
Dreary and damp here today and same forecast tomorrow . I went out and did everything needed shopping wise etc .
Can you all cross the fingers that dd will finally be well enough to see the doctor tomorrow and that when I hit the phone first thing tomorrow I don't get the receptionist who will argue against an appt tomorrow . It's nearly five weeks since dd has seen the doctor due to the flu and norovirus . He was happy to come out to see her but as she wasn't fit to have the injection it would have been a waste of his time . Under the shared care arrangement he sees her face to face every other week as besides monitoring her for the consultant many miles away he is constantly having to take action against the constant attacks due to her lowered immune system .

Hope all are well . Small signs of spring in the gardens now so we'll look ahead to the lighter , longer days .
    Take care everyone

We found that putting photos, old family papers etc in plastic boxes & storing them until us four siblings could look at them together later took some emotion out of the process. I also sorted her clothes with my BF who was invaluable in helping with that task.

  • FLOSS I now have complete and utter envy, Toulon and Clermont Auvergne are the two teams I like most in the French competitions and I would be very hard put to know who to shout for if they play each other. Hope it was a cracker of a game???
  • Evening all. I'm back in the country and now back at work where things are manic. Heading south for meetings tomorrow so an early start.

Noticed a few bulbs poking through when I came back which is a nice sign of spring in the way.

Had to arrange a call from the dishwasher repair man for later in the week. It won't drain so it's back to the old fashioned method for now - it's amazing how many less dishes you use when you can't toss them in a machine!

Morning playmates, we had such a lovely day with Ruthie and Orley yesterday, he's such a contented little man. much less tempestuous than his big brother was at 3 weeks and Ruthie seems to be back and running normally again. Orley slept on my shoulder for 2 and a half hours in the afternoon which gave Ru time to change beds, do washing and sort out odds and ends of jobs that needed finishing. We ended up staying longer than we'd in tended as we waited for Zebra to come back from nursery with his daddy and he was so pleased to see us that we stayed a while to play. Got back last night at 9ish and were very tired indeed so slept well. The house was arctic when we came in so for the first time in ages we popped the central heating on for a couple of hours. I'm having an easy day today, some Oatmeal Soup is simmering on the hob for lunch and I'll make us another Hot Pot for supper with some nice savoy cabbage and gravy all of which I have ingredients for here now so all I'll have to do is walk Cookie after lunch and pop to the shop for some milk later on. Very chilly here this morning and the lawns are !!!!! with frost but the sky is blue and we have sunshine so I can't complain!!!

FUDS hope your EA pulls out the finger and gets on with the job of selling mums house.

LAINEY sending you all hugs and lots of them, it's a bleak time sorting out the legalities and dealing with buerocracy but it doesn't last forever pet, it just feels that way.

My Goodness Me!!! why on earth would the filter obliterate the word w h i t e with !!!s??? since when did a colour become an obscenity?
