  • The eating plan is going very well indeed I've just hopped on the scales and have lost 1.7 kilos in 2 weeks without feeling hungry or deprived and I've just discovered that I can fit into things that have been hanging forlornly in the wardrobe for some years.....with space!!! I've kept the smallest thing I fitted some time ago and I can actually fit it now but not as comfortably as I'd like to BUT I SOON WILL! I see the doctor again in 2 weeks time but have cancelled the appointment with the doctor I saw last time and made another one with a different GP in the practice as I'm not convinced at the decision to escalate the meds so will ask for clarification and brownie points for loosing weight too! I'm feeling strangely buoyant about the whole weight loss thing in a way I haven't for years, I hope I can keep that feeling as it makes a difference xxx.

So much of it is positivity Lyn. If your headspace is right then you can, and are! do it. I'll give you a shout when I am able to get into the headspace. :o

Polly it's a strange one. I've been thinking about it too and what I can come up with is that I had a very happy, very content ten years with my mam and dad, in our home as a child. My mam was quite strict and my dad oozed love. I think that combination of parenting and feeling secure as a child is what did it. I am talking to my cousins on facebook. All of which I haven't seen since I was a child. It's cathartic because I am crying a lot, in fact just broken down reading a message a few moments ago, but what is coming back is they are reminiscing of my character as a child. It seems as a child I was quiet, yet confident, warm but was fierce if I was pushed. Go figure. That is me. I have my dad in me (the lovable yet don't cross me or mine) and my mam (quiet, confident rule follower) Now they both had a wicked sense of humour (me too - try living with the King of sarcasm DH without it ;) ) so from that I am picking up that they must have been able to be positive in adversity.

I make sense. :D Finally I have sussed it through talking to family and stripping back the lady who drank. I know who I am and where I came from. It's been confusing for so long because I am the exact opposite of the drinker who hid from her problems.

So sorry. It was good to type that out though.

Oh Polly. Well I'm still not able to have the B12 injections because the GP (and a second at the practice) is adamant that even with the consultant letter that he can't find any evidence of what that diagnosis has been based on through my bloods. I had my bloods taken yesterday so will know something next week.

With DD and the school I am to go to a meeting on the 30th to talk about DD's assessment results and "talk about recommended strategies" so that says to me that it was worth pushing and the assessments have flagged something up. It can only help DD in the future. All I ever wanted was an understanding that she has difficulties to stop her falling foul of the reward and consequence system because of those difficulties. I have to say that since my forceful approach DD is calmer and more secure. They have given her a 'funny' shaped pen and she's flourished since. It should never have got so heated.

And finally (so sorry - I hope your cuppa hasn't gone cold!) we have progressed down the aging route that little bit further. DH came in last night asking me to buy him some long johns for under his work trousers. I am thrilled that Mr I am tough and I don't even need a hat is turning into a dear auld goat who wants to be wrapped up and warm. Hear, Hear my friends. :D

Fuddle would Mr Fuddle be able to work in ski salopettes? They are often sold in Aldi, and are thermal liked and waterproof - I wear mine on the allotment in the cold months!

  • I'm like buses none for ages and then 3 come along !
Just stopped for a brew and Fuds you have made my day reading your post . By your own efforts you've completed the circle and the little girl has joined the woman you now are and they are you .
A bit of fierce is what keeps us bending and rebuilding with worn out tools . The lovely thing is your family links are being restored bit by bit and from a sad and traumatic situation will come peace and stability .
I can only say I feel joy in my heart . People would pay big money for the therapy and insight you have taken yourself through to reach this point and all by searching your heart and soul .
Fingers crossed it will be possible to post one day about opening your own front door to your security and then we'll all probably burst into happy tears .
I know you will make sure school stay on course it's so lovely to hear your daughter is feeling happier . Look after yourself and sorry but I had a giggle at the auld man post . It comes to us all !
Dear Lyn well done on the weight loss . You sound so happy and upbeat . I hope the meds situation is resolved , is HWK enjoying the new way of eating or is he missing his puds ?
Hugs to all , back to the ironing
    polly xx

I have a little news re: a front door if you would like to hear?

Without going into money too deeply my mam left a large amount in her pension pot. My sister and I have received a death grant which has enabled my to put down a good deposit on a cheap home. A death grant isn't part of the estate so I can get the ball rolling with this without probate. Because of the financial history I have been tentatively dipping my foot amongst mortgage brokers. I found one who has found me a decision in principle and I have indeed received my certificate this morning. We can now view and put in offers.

I know we're not there yet but... it's very hopeful. DH and I have been careful these past 8 years and behaved in a way that would put us in the best stead possible for if we ever got the opportunity. I am extremely excited and extremely nervous at the same time.

We would be saving £250 a month on rent and it will be paid of by the time I am 52. No fancy new build this time, just a small, cosy home and zest for contentment based security well within our means.

Now the above isn't about any soul searching I have done, that is about your influences over the years and that really is something to celebrate eh?

Ok, I am quiet. I have a lot to be getting on with (thank goodness I don't have any boxes lying around... I do like to be prepared after all! ;) )

I will mention salopets actually Floss. The lads on the yard wear them so I don't think it would be a problem. He is office based ordinarily but get hands on outside quite a lot of the time - it's in him! so I know he could probably source a pair through work. Good idea!

Now my FUDDLE, THAT is a post I've been waiting to hear for quite some time, fantastic to read that you are finally achieving your own home to make as beautiful, homely, warm, comforting, safe and most importantly YOURS! Somewhere there is a guardian angel who is doing the business!!! xxx.

He Who Knows is a very easy going chappie and really doesn't mind what I feed him, the only thing he takes exception to is fishy fish, brussels sprouts and birds (all kinds) and anything with bones in. even pork chops and T Bone steaks! he's still getting puds but actually likes stewed fruit and yoghurt and also likes sugar free jelly and custard so is quite content and is shedding a couple of pounds with me as he's a little heavier than he likes, all well in the Lurcher household as far as food is concerned my friend! xxx
  • Oh Fuds I so agree with Lyn good news indeed . No tears I'm grinning like this :D
Do you remember when we were looking at the supermoon and you were worried you'd jinxed it by seeing it through glass ? I wished very hard on it for a number of people and a number of reasons . As someone who believes in the power of the universe , hope and positivity and am guided by the moon my wish for you is granted . Might sound airy fairy but whether it was an angel , your mum and dad , the moon or the vibes beaming from old stylers and your own determination we'll never know . I will save the happy dance for moving day ( well done on the restraint re packing up )
    Love polly x

Fuddle, wow, what an exciting post! TBH I envy your plan to have the mortgage paid off by the time you're 52 - I'm that now and have another 17 years on mine :(

Thank you dear Fuddle, reading your posts this morning has certainly put a smile on my face too, from the journey of making sense through your childhood and family ties to the positive news on the home front. It's exciting to think that somewhere there is a cosy, little home just waiting for you guys to walk over the threshold and say yep, this is the one.
Oh my friends, the joy of walking into Mum's room this morning and see her smiling face in amongst her nest of pillows, she had such a good nights sleep as did I. This morning I have pottered to my hearts content, looking after her and sorting out my home, bliss.
:j to Lyn on the weight loss, it certainly sounds like it's a very positive change for you and HWK sounds well looked after as usual :)
Would give quite a lot right now Polly for cold and frosty, it's a bleugh kind of day here in east anglia, did you sleep any better last night, I hope so?
Floss, I too am 52 ( good vintage ;) )but thanks to CaptainS's redundancy last year we are mortgage free, silver linings and all that as it has meant I could take career break during Mum's illness.
Hope you are having a good day Candlelight x
Hugs to all, off now as Mum fancies a little trip into town xx
  • Lainey it's so good to read that a restful night was enjoyed . You are so positive today and I hope that you and mum have days ahead to potter and chat . Enjoy your little trip out .
I had a long needed two nights sleep in a row thank you . It makes such a difference to have proper rest . I will do my best to send some cold , crisp weather your way , the dismal grey days are so miserable .
Today has been and still is very cold but so bright and cheering .
    Take care
    polly xx
