  • That is good Fuddle, you now know what you are up against.

As I understand it is not an uncommon condition, and I think you will find several members of MSE have it.

My Nan had it, and obviously that was many years ago. She had to have a B12 injection every 3 months, but in the beginning she was very ill because, like you, she didn't have a diagnosis. Once she did and had her first injections she was like a new person. If I remember, and I was only a teenager then, I think she had several to start with, before she went on to 3 monthly jabs. Is your DH ready to be married to a "new woman" :):)

I am so pleased for you, but it is worrying to think that something you are taking for one medical condition can have such a devastating affect on another condition, albeit unknown at the time.

Well it sounds like onwards and upwards now, it was awful to think you could have another bout of pneumonia.

I know some people have poor experiences with the NHS, but I have always found them to be marvellous, and definitely saved the life of Himself back in April when he had heart failure.

    Take care Fuddle

  • Fandabidosi FUDS that consultant deserves a medal. What wonderful news that not only are you discharged but that you also have a diagnosis and therefore a solution to all the horrid health problems you've had to cope with over the past few years, just brilliant love, just brilliant!!!
  • As I have a lowered immune system left over since Chemo I make a point of staying away from crowded places, especially at this time of the year as even a cold can make me quite poorly. One reason why I try to shop only two-three times a month if I can. Both my DDs know that if they have colds or the children have upset tummies I also will steer clear.

Thank goodness fuddle you have got a diagnosis now you can move on and sort yourself out at last. I have nothing but the highest praise for the NHS and the amazing Doctors and nurses who helped me survive a close shave with the grim reaper. I am now just three years into the all clear after 5 years of treatment :):):)
  • What on earth does anyone want an island for in the middle of a nice kitchen? I'd much rather have a decent old fashioned sturdy kitchen table to work at one of those with drawers under the work surface and some sturdy chairs to tuck under the table so I can sit down and read the recipes before I cook them. The only island I'm interested in at the moment is a small remote one where I can buy a tumbledown croft and make a life for us and the family away from the utterly bonkers things that are happening all over the 'civilised and not so civilised world this year, trouble is we can't afford it!!! shame that as I really would go!

That's just where one of the main protagonists in all this madness originates - a tumbledown croft on the Isle of Lewis!

  • Well done Fuddle, it's always better when you have a diagnosis. I hope the B12 perks you up.

I am an ex smoker and never really thought how much it affected others because everyone else smoked too at the time. What really frightens me now is the number of young people who spit at every opportunity. Eugh!

  • Good evening all,

Well after a very murky start we have had a glorious day. Blue sky but chilly.

The bed was stripped first thing and remade with fresh linen. Washing dried and put away now.

We went for our morning walk quite early. We haven't been for a couple of days because Himself feels the cold so much these days, but it was warmer this morning.

We have another DGD with us tonight. She is sleeping with our DGD because they are having a girls night in watching DVDs. I do worry sometimes that they don't keep in touch as much as I would like, but this is the second week they have seen each other. They are both beautiful girls and we love them dearly. We just have to get dGS round now, but what with university and his partime job I think he has enough to do.

We have a small shop to do tomorrow but nothing else planned.

Lainey how is Mum today? Candles still burning for our poorly friends.

Fuddle I am just so pleased you now know what is wrong and hopefully medication will begin to sort it out

Jackie you are like me we have a lot to be thankful for from the NHS, and now with Himself being so ill I couldn't fault them. When I took him to A&E in April he was in such a state I really thought I was losing him, and what they did there and then was nothing short of a miracle. He will never be really well, his heart is failing but they are doing their utmost to keep him on an even keel, and I am so grateful.

SM I thought it might be very cold in your part of the world. In the afternoon we sit with a blanket around our legs rather than put the heating on too early.

Hoglet I hope things are going reasonably well

Have just see on the news Robert Vaughn has died, that brings back such memories of The Man from uncle and my youth, none of us are getting any younger.

Lyn. enjoy your new exercise regime, you are going to be fine most of us could do with a little more exercise and losing a bit of weight. I have to go on the straight and narrow for when I see the renal consultant in May and show I can lose some more weight.

Hello to all my other lovely friends, I don't normally have anything particularly interesting to talk about, just everyday news. It is our Golden Wedding anniversary next June and we have booked to go to Norfolk for the week but we want to take the family out for a meal the weekend, before so we are having to give some thought as to where. Plenty of time though and it gives Himself something to work towards

Hugs to you all and have a good weekend if you can

I have been awol from the forum for a few months but I am sure I will be forgiven.
I had to comment on reality TV shows which are mostly too awful to watch. I also agree that I wonder where they get the people to appear on programmes like Escape to the Country - why would 2 people want such enormous houses and loads of land - do they not even think of the upkeep, the housework, the cleaning, the gardening etc.
I have been keeping up the spirit of the forum over the last few weeks by decluttering emails etc going back years. We have changed our email addresses which has been hard work but I am also ruthlessly culling everything stored in folders and unsubscribing from loads of sites. The computer squealed in protest when I deleted 450 emails from one folder labelled holidays going back 10 years. I just needed to keep 8 for some upcoming trips. Only another 40 or so folders to go.

It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

There but for fortune go you and I.
