Love the positivity in your post, fuddle! Health better, finances looking healthier, an end to a period of turmoil and stress, and the possibility of a place of your own in the not-too-distant future. I have long believed that generally things work out for the best in the end, and you are living proof of that. May the good times continue to roll. One life - your life - live it!0

Crikey I thought I was the only person who isn't keen on 'Bake Off' watching someone cook a cake isn't to me very entertaining at all,but then I'm not keen on cookery shows or "talent shows":(
'Escape to the Country' is just so irritating, "Here is Nigel and Imogen and they have sold their shoe box in London for buckets of money, and now need a five bedroomed detached house for the two of them and their pony, assorted dogs and of course Nigels business of making wooden legs:D and Imogen's part time candle making and Morris dancing business They have around £900k to spend and it must be within walking distance of a village with a decent pub and 'nice neighbours'
Where do they find these super well-off folk, and why if they are so well off do they feel the need to be on TV0 -
And the kitchen must have an island
:)
Have you ever watched it and know you wouldn't get on with the couple and how do they have so much money. I could work until I was 90 and still not have that amount to spend on a house.
It annoys me when they say they have a modest amount of 600K to spend, and also that they are downsizing but want 5 bedrooms and 3 reception rooms and an en suite. Give me my little terrace house any day.

What on earth does anyone want an island for in the middle of a nice kitchen? I'd much rather have a decent old fashioned sturdy kitchen table to work at one of those with drawers under the work surface and some sturdy chairs to tuck under the table so I can sit down and read the recipes before I cook them. The only island I'm interested in at the moment is a small remote one where I can buy a tumbledown croft and make a life for us and the family away from the utterly bonkers things that are happening all over the 'civilised and not so civilised world this year, trouble is we can't afford it!!! shame that as I really would go!0

Heartily aggree Mrs LW and Candlelight, my little terraced cottage is plenty big enough for me, and cosy and warm as well
We downsized in 1995 from our large extended house because there was only OH and myself and we were spending far too muchtime going up and down from London seeing our grandchildren, and our house was costing us a fortune to keep warm as we lived on a golf course. The bills here are a fraction of what we used to pay and I have both my DDs and grandchildren within 10 minutes of my house. Best move we ever made as we had retired and I have been here for 21 years and will never move again now. Shops are three minutes away from me and Drs,Library, station and everything I need are close by.
A desert island does sound appealing though ,especially in November:):)

Doesn't have to be a desert island JACKIE, I'd take one in the outer Hebrides if I thought we'd be able to leave the rest of this crazy convoluted world behind us and be free of all the incomprehensible stupidity that makes up modern humanity. The more I see of people.....the more I love my dog!!!0

I'd happily live away from folk too. At the minute I'm struggling with humanity's selfishness and it all stems from the school run - walking past smokers and dealing with car fumes is awful for only 2 minutes of the walk but I get so annoyed because it hurts my chest. It is what it is and I suppose if I drove or smoked I wouldn't think twice about it either.
I guess it's a good thing to experience negatives because it makes us more aware.
I'm off to the hospital for my outpatient appointment this morning. Another chest x-ray and spirometry test. I do hope I'm well enough to be signed off from NHS books. Positive vibes to my lungs please0 -
I have been discharged!
I do have a diagnosis as well though. I have pernicious anaemia - an autoimmune condition that effects my stomach. My body can't absorb vit B12 as I understand it and with that comes red blood cell issues and lowered immunity. The medication I was taking for acid reflux was making the problem worse. Lowering my immunity and the likely cause of pneumonia bought number 2.
We always knew that the lowered immunity would probably be linked to autoimmune diseases especially as I have a slight bit of vitiligo on my arm. I have to wait a week then see my GP but it throws into question the anxiety/asthma/acid reflux symptoms can all be linked to the pernicious anaemia including the fast heart rate.
Lots to read up on for me but it's good to have an answer as to why someone so youngish and normally fit and healthy has had one pig of a year.
Well done NHS it's taken a while but the consultant never gave up on searching for a reason and he found it. I feel lucky to have found it, get treatment and get on with things.0 -
Fuddle - great news, go home and celebrate with a nice cup of tea and a bit of cake!. you've also just touched on my bugbear. Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy but I feel smokers are becoming more ignorant by the day. It seems to be acceptable now for them to blow smoke into other people's personal space, particularly those vapour devices. It's quite possible I may be arrested at some point for slapping someone who had blown smoke or vapour in my face.
Anyway I'll get off my soapbox now:o
I'm smiling about the reality tv comments - with the exception of the Sewing Bee I can't watch them. The bake off presenters and one judge in particular set my teeth on edge and it will freeze over in hell before I could ever stomach anything like "big brother, jungle nonsense" or suchlike. Sadly I'm finding they make up more than 50% of tv schedules now.
I'm working from home today so that's my break over. Hope to be back later and read up on threads properly
Ps. It's absolutely freezing here - I refuse to put the heating on so I'm wearing a sweater, gilet and a big blanket - thank goodness nobody can see me!0 -
