  • Hello everyone .
Floss such good news , it sounds like a job with your name on .
Lainey I am hoping yesterday went well , it sounds like Mum would be better not having to travel especially with the colder weather . Sending you love and strength and a virtual carrot for Billy E who seems to be a real comfort to you at this sad and worrying time . Candle as always sending light and love to you all x
Fuds I also feel so proud of you and yours . You have amazing inner strength and I hope that family relationships will be mended by the need to pull together and some closure will result for you all . Please keep an eye on your health , once things are sorted you are likely to crash and need to make sure you rest x
Candlelight I'm pleased you both have a break from the appointments . Hoping your dd is coping with the cold weather and not in too much pain . Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and the daily candle , it gives me a lot of comfort . Much love and stay warm xxx
SM I hope all is well and the weather is not too cold at the moment .Hoglet Hoping things are going well with mums visit and you are well .
Lyn Glad you had a lovely weekend with Nell . I watch very little TV probably 3-4 hours max a week . I watched the final episode of the Victorian Slum last night and have found it very thought provoking throughout . Like you I enjoy Shetland and Vera . also good documentaries and drama . My guilty pleasure , lord knows why is Casualty :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I have watched it for 30 years and each time I think " enough " a new character appears . I am enjoying watching Dylan who is complex but quite funny at times .
My dvds are my enjoyment a large and varied selection . All the bbc versions of the classics , Vera , Rebus ( my absolute favourite ) and lots of social history . Winter traditionally will be rewatching every Dr Who David Tennant episode followed over the holiday period by the Christmas specials - and there will be tears !!!
I've been awake since just after 3am so need to pull myself together and get the brain into gear . A day with nowhere to go hopefully but out for the next three days .
Wishing you all a warm and peaceful day if possible , still thick frost here , it was bitterly cold last night and still pretty cold .
    Take care all .
    polly x

We awoke to snow! :D I had a lovely walk back from school in my own little snowy world.

I am being very cautious about my health Polly. After spending a lot of last winter with duct tape over my wellies (out of stubbornness because I wanted to invest in good quality snow boots and was determined not to spend on cheapies in the short term) I used my quidco cash back in the summer to pick up a clearance pair of decent snow boots. I wear these constantly now just to make sure my feet are warm and dry. DH also bought me a new good quality (and expensive!) Waterproof, windproof coat because I was determined to make do with the one I had. It was plenty warm enough but not waterproof and I wouldn't replace it. That stubbornness again. I'm thrilled with my new number though and smashing for days like today.

My asthma is controlled and my breathlessness from that second bought of p has gone. No pain now at all. I'm well on the mend and coping well. My average resting heart rate has dropped day by day since the funeral and looking back at the figures (although skewed too because of pericarditis and being poorly) it's now the lowest it's been since I got the machine. I think frustration, anger, sadness, worry over mam has had me at a worse point emotionally than I ever really realised. Now it's a different kind of feeling and although busy I am calm and peaceful within and the numbers are proving that.

I'm having a day off from paperwork today and catching up in some light housework. My lot are being good and keeping things tidy but a little mammy tweak is needed. I've put the girls on school dinners for the time being so no packed lunches to do and DH is taking his porridge as normal but a tin of soup and bread bin for his dinners. Easy peasy. Dinners are largely completed with the help of a jar but by doing it this way it means I can cook (need to feel like I'm providing) a meal of an evening without pushing myself or being overwhelmed. I am however, just because I want to and it's chilly, pull the rhubarb and blackberries out of the freezer to make a crumble for tonight. Not much work for a lot of smiles in return :D

I do need to share that I know the worth of mams debts and assets and it's looking very likely that I will be able to buy my family and very small terraced house for our future. It's there in the back of my mind but can't yet feel excitement or relief because the sadness is still there and I feel it too premature. In terms of looking forward it is helpful to have something good comes out of something so awful. It is what my mam and my dad would have wanted. Now I'm setting myself off.

Anyway. At some point today I am to be cutting out snowflakes to help with my charity shop Christmas window. I dropped in 2 days ago to donate the proceeds of the charity pot from mams funeral. They are a smashing bunch of people really and supporting me a great deal. All is good my friends. Time to put the kettle on :)
  • Quick one from me Fuds .
Such a positive and uplifting post today . I'm glad you are feeling a lot better and warmly clad for the weather wishing you a good day doing what you do best in your home . We are on a snow warning but just a very dirty sky and bitter cold , I wont ask for some of yours - yet !
Early days but I shed a tear or two reading of mums legacy - however bad things became it remained and there is the the love and the security you have longed for for so long .
On my way out now but love and best wishes for now and the days ahead .

  • Fuddle you sound so positive, I am so pleased for you.

Yes there will be many days when you shed a few tears but that is natural. There will be so many more days when you can see blue skies ahead and possibly your own little home.

I am pleased to hear you are being sensible :):) with warm boots and waterproof coat (your DH has the measure of you doesn't he) :)

We haven't had snow but it is bitterly cold here.

Carry on taking care Fuddle, I am so pleased you are calm and happy

    Much love

Fuds, we had a windfall after losing DHs parents last year, it was tinged with sadness but gratitude from knowing that they would want us to be financially secure.

  • Morning all, FUDS you've found your balance again small one, what a relief and well done. Glad you've got the snug boots and waterproof coat, that will keep you safe in the coming winter and even more glad that you have found equilibrium over mum despite the emotional upheaval and all the hard work of sorting out a home and a life. If there should be enough to get you your small terrace we will collectively let out the biggest cheer ever heard on Planet Earth and to a woman will be utterly delighted for you to have found shelter and security and a new life under your OWN roof lovey, if prayers could make it happen you'd have it already! Look after you and your lovely little clan, Hugs and Love Lyn xxx.

Thank you for such warmth everyone. :)

Who knows what is next around the corner eh? I don't make plans anymore but I am daring to hope that the feeling of security may come my way. Until then I'll plough on with my foods stocks for such feelings. ;)

Please may I also take the opportunity to explain that DH is taking a bread bun for his lunch... not a bread bin.
  • Pr'aps it's a bread bun in a bread bin???
  • That predicted text is a b**gger isn't it
