    Hello all,

Just a quick visit as we are off to C/bridge soon for some shopping, we both need new pillows so will have a look in JL as seem to have decent selection, darling captain S has promised me breakfast out in favourite spot.
Have been thinking about you Fuddle and hope you are ok, please look after yourself now that the funeral is all done, I know from when we lost Dad that is the most difficult time with no arrangements etc left to do. Hugs x

Will be back on later, have a good Saturday everyone xx
  • ..Good evening all,

Very noisey outside at the moment,Flora isn't too happy about the fireworks, it is a good thing she is an indoor cat.

We have had a reasonable day, went shopping first thing this morning, met up with DD for a coffee in M&S coffee shop, and then came home and I put all the shopping away.

I made coffee and filled rolls for the men working next door. The tenants trashed the house, and the Landlord and one of his men come about once a week and work on it. I think he has lots of other properties so he doesn't seem to have much time to spend on this house. He is a lovely man and I have asked him if we can have some nice neighbours :), so I like to give them a hot drink and something to eat. He is always very grateful.

DGD and BF went to see Dr Strange this afternoon, she says it is very good. BF has gone home to walk the dog and then they are going out for dinner.

We are going to the Crem tomorrow to give my Dad some flowers. Come the 9th of this month he will have been gone 25 years, I can't believe it is that long. I can remember exactly how I felt on that day.

I want to try and clean the downstairs windows when we come home. I have a window cleaner for outside but I really must get round to cleaning these. I did upstairs the other day.

Lyn I hope you are OK, all the boards seem very quiet at the moment.

Fuddle hope you are doing OK and feeling a little better after the antibiotics.

Lainey, fancy your Bill going to sleep whilst you were grooming him, I feel like that when I have a good hairdresser. Did you buy your pillows in Cambridge? I hope you had a good visit with Mum and looking forward to having her with you .tomorrow.

SM is it really cold where you are, it is really quite cool here now, and I think we are in for a cold snap.

Hoglet I hope everything goes well with Mum.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay safe

    Much love

I'm doing alright Lainey :) Today we started clearing the house. I've had to detach emotionally but there's a job to do and do it we must. Just the four of us sis, bill DH and myself. Working well and sharing the load and upset together.

I can't go into detail with what we're dealing with because it's not nice but in practical terms mam hasn't opened any post in 10 years. We are unraveling a right mess. Because we have every piece of paperwork going it is something that I am taking on and sorting because a solicitor would cost us a fortune with the amount of work involved. If there's something adept at its sorting debts, paperwork and legal processes.

I do have my childhood Mickey Monkey though. He''s dirty and missing an arm and a foot but that's exactly how I left him. More tomorrow. I am really ok though. I'm proud of me and my sister :)

  • Evening all. Finally relaxing now. Was experimenting in the kitchen after dinner - I made apple bundt cake with toffee drizzle for tomorrow nights dessert. It looks amazing however the proof will be in the tasting it - my family are very honest critics though so I will report back.

Candlelight - it was 6 degrees today but with almost gale force winds so certainly felt a lot colder. Sunday night we may see minus 12 in the glens so winter has arrived! It's a noisy night here. We are pretty elevated on one side of a valley so I can see lots of fireworks but (disappointingly) not a single bonfire. My friend, who teaches primary 3 pupils, said that its known as fireworks night now and very few children actually know the story of Guy Fawkes or the significance of the bonfire. I find that really quite sad. My father sometimes has a big bonfire (lots of farmers find the darkness a great time to burn all manner of things....) however he didn't have enough "stuff" to make it worthwhile.

I've had a shocking cold all week. Thankfully my nose has dried up but I have the most irritating cough so I'm off to get something to drink in the hope I can quell the barking before bedtime or I'll be exiled to the spare room!

    Hello everyone,

Gosh isn't it cold today, the wind is really biting and after a bright start it has clouded over.

Never mind, we are all tucked up warm at home, went out earlier to collect Mum and she is engrossed in her latest book even though there is lots of oooh's and aaah's coming from DOH whose watching the football.
Mum is doing ok even though am a little concerned over her throat, she is sounding very deep and husky but says there is no pain etc, am taking her for a blood test on Tuesday so will ask if the GP can just check it for us. She is eating very little but we are trying to ensure what she does eat is packed with calories so there is a rice pudding in the oven made with half condensed and half whole milk :)
Re the pillows yes I did get some new ones thanks CANDLELIGHT, as we are both side sleepers I plumped for JL breathable microfibre as they are recommended and also meant to wick away any moisture, I do suffer from hot flushes etc at night. They are certainly very comfortable and I had a good nights sleep, always use the protectors etc but they are machine washable which is an advantage. Not the cheapest but hopefully money well spent.
Our breakfast out wasn't so successful, our usual place was closed for refurbishment so we ended up in Carluccios, hmm is all I can say, the food was ok but salty and at £2.50 for a small cup the coffee not good value for money, we won't be back!
Anyways, had a lovely day as popped in to see Mum in the way home and some mutual friends turned up so good catching up with those guys. In the afternoon got over to see Bill and then eldest DSS came round for a catch up and we ended up ordering a Chinese takeaway which was yum and more than made up for the poor breakfast :j

SM - hope the cold is better today and you are keeping warm, can see the gales are hitting your neck of the woods.
Fuddle - all strength to you with the sorting of papers etc, you are right to be proud of yourself and sister, hope today isn't so bad.
Hoglet - thinking of you too and hope you are coping with your visitor, there is always wine :)
    Lyn - you ok m'dear?

Much love to you all, enjoy your Sunday xx
