  • That sounds good Elona. I made some ghosts, covered a lolly with a tissue, painted eyes on it and stuck it in a satsuma, so will need to be used up soon.

I have actually locked the door and drawn the curtain now, no little ones should be out at this time of night.

We used to have ever so many years ago

  • We had an amazing evening, I lost count of the numbers but the costumes this year were mostly home made and the kids very polite so much fun was had by all.
  • Our's was a big disappointment Lyn, so DGD is going to work with scarey cakes and sweeties, I don't know whether she will want to take the ghosts as well.

We did have a knock on the door at 9 pm, but I had already locked up, and I don't think little ones should be out that late

  • Our evening started an hour later than normal at 5.30, usually we get the very small ones and their parents round about 4.30 as it's getting dusk but not this year, another thing I'm aware of is that there was only one pair of kids out without parental escorts, even the older ones (12+) who came at 8ish had parents waiting for them at the bottom of the drive. I wondered if the 'clown' phenomenon as a potential threat made many parents more cautious this year. I'm not aware of any older teenagers out and about later either which is most unusual but we shifted nearly all the goodies and met some very nice youngsters (and parents) so I'm glad I played again for Halloween this year!
  • Well, not a single trick or treater here but given that we aren't close to any other houses that really isn't a surprise.

I've been confined to home ( although still working furiously) for the last two days as I have the most horrendous cold. I've definitely boosted Kleenex and Beechams profits! I should have been in London today however had to attend the meeting by phone. There was really bad fog and the flight I should have been on was cancelled anyway so I didn't miss anything.

It's certainly cooler here now so let's hope it kills off the bugs which have been multiplying. I think I will go into the office tomorrow as I'm craving company , not sure how welcome I will be unless I make a drastic improvement over night.

I popped into the green house earlier to check on things. I still have about a dozen tomatoes to ripen which I'm pleased about. Surprised they are so late however not complaining. I've been wondering if there is anything I could put in there over winter which wouldn't need heating. Will have to do some research.

I hope all the recipients of the Halloween goodies are enjoying the unexpected treats. They all sounded very tasty. I don't feel like baking anything for the office this week - a sure sign I'm not quite 100%!

    Hello all,

Not long back from seeing Mum, it's certainly turning much colder out there and the heating has kicked in.

We had a quiet afternoon together, she has a new jigsaw puzzle to do but only managed about 20 minutes before it was too much so watched a little tv. We have another visit from the hospice lady tomorrow to reassess how she is doing, also spoke to the local GP just to keep him informed of developments. There is very little that she can eat now but still enjoys soup and chocolate mousse, but not in the same bowl!
Didn't get over to see Bill in the end but hope to spend a couple of hours with him in the morning before heading back over to Mum.
Hope everyone else is well, we didn't have any visitors last night but it would take a brave little ghost indeed to venture down our lane :)
The girls are looking at me wistfully now as they want their evening walk, take care and much love to all xx
  • Morning all, a lovely morning here with blue sky and sunshine and not a breath of wind. He Who Knows has just gone off to walk Cookie and I'm about to launch in to the housework. We are going to the local retail park this morning to go to 'TIGER' which is a Danish shop where I hope to get some blue candles as part of a Christmas present for one of the girls. He Who Knows is off fishing with his pal Malcolm this afternoon and other than a Cookie walk I have nothing specific planned, unusual!!!

LAINEY will be thinking of you all today for when the Hospice person comes to reassess her, I hope she can bring herself to accept any help that is offered and not feel that it is 'letting go' of control, hugs to all of you.

FUDDLE pet, thinking of you and yours too in the run up to mums funeral tomorrow, difficult and emotional times petal and I send you all the hugs and love I have to help you get through the ordeal xxx.
  • Good morning all,

A lovely morning here as well. Beautiful blue sky, chilly but nice.

We popped into town, dropping DGD off at work on the way. We needed a few different size batteries but didn't stay long because the car battery was playing up. Himself has now gone to have a new one fitted.

Housework is virtually up to date, hardly any washing, but I do have soup to make for lunch. We are having celeriac and celery and cheese and crackers.

We have empty houses either side of us now, I do hope we have some nice neighbours for change. One house is still having work done on it, and the other one which has only just been vacated will need a lot of work as well.

We are going to my friends on Friday morning because it is her birthday but prior to that Himself has an appointment with the GP for blood results, shouldn't be there long. He seems a little more upbeat this week, thank goodness.

Lainey i hope all goes well today.

Fuddle sending you love and strength for tomorrow. You will be surrounded by those who love you so take comfort from that, and I do hope the weather is fine for you. It may sound silly but it helps if the weather isn't foggy or wet.

Polly thinking of you and your DD, I assume things are not good at the moment.

    Much love to you all

It looks as if it could be a nice day so I have wrestled the superking bedding off our bed and it is in the washing machine just now and will be hung outside later in the fresh air.

I managed to get the suspect transactions cancelled and the money refunded to my bank account but am waiting for a new bank card so I am so glad I am well stocked up and took some cash out earlier this week.

Fuddle, GQ and Lainey gentle virtual hug to you all.

    Hello everyone,

Just been catching up with all your news.

We had a fabulous holiday, totally relaxing with no internet, no phone signal. The most gorgeous view from the villa which was right on the beach, lots of long walks on the beach, snorkelling, kayaking around the lagoon... Spent FAR too much money but had a wonderful time.

Got home to a message from my cousin saying her mum (my great aunt who's been very ill for a long time) was unlikely to last the weekend. We kept missing each other's phone calls during the evening but eventually she got through to say her mum had died during the evening. Now my mum is thinking of flying over for the funeral - so it looks like I'm going to have a busy weekend getting the house ready for a visitor (the cats sleep on the spare bed and it's errr rather fluffy!)

I'll dive in and out but busy times ahead....

    much love to you all
