It's T for Tougher as we are a spin off from the old Tougher threads that have now evolved into the Garden Fence thread.0

Hello all , late one from me . Lainey I am so pleased you have made your decision , this truly is a precious time and aside from that the toxic atmosphere must have been a dread each time you got up for work . CS is right , rainy day savings are for such times . I hope mum gets to enjoy the holiday weekend and you can all relax a little .
Thanks for the good wishes . I had a quick read through before posting and noticed the question re the t word . I love this gentle thread ( thanks SM ) and to me it is all the best of the former t threads - kindness and empathy . I too think of our friends on here and share your joys and difficult times . Thanks for being here all of you .
Lyn Thoughts are with you and yours . I feel envious of Zebra , the weekend Nell has planned is brilliant so much so I think he may refuse to go home !!!
Today has been a long one so I am off to bed and wont need much rocking .
Hope to post tomorrow meanwhile hope all of you have a good break if you can over the weekend .
Take care all .

Morning all, funny day here today not hot but 'stuffy' feeling outside. We might get some rain/thunderstorms later on today but at the moment the air feels 'thick' and very odd. Just had to dash down to the shop as I realised it's Ru and Neils wedding anniversary on Wednesday and I hadn't got a card, luckily the picture framer in the village always has nice woodcuts as cards and I found something pretty. Posted now as our post goes on Saturday at 11.15 am and with the bank holiday it wouldn't go out until Tuesday evening, phew!!!
Nell and Zebra having a fun time together, he went down at 8ish last night, 'read' Nell The Tiger who came to Tea and was asleep almost straight away. He disturbed once in the night and he'd managed to wriggle out of his quilt and got cold but didn't wake properly and slept through to 6.30 this morning when Pushycat woke him up mewing outside his bedroom door. I know they're off swimming this morning and then out for lunch, lots of craft planned this afternoon and cake making too and sticking in his scrap book, wonderful stuff.
I've picked the produce that needed it from the garden, He Who Knows has been to the allotment, I've made soup for lunch and got the brisket joint in the slow cooker early this morning so it smells lovely now, Cookie to walk after lunch and that's it for the day. I'm looking forward to a Skype with Nell and Zebra at about teatime so he can show me all the things he's made and the 'Litnin Queen' toy that Lelly found for him in the shops, smashing stuff.
Hope all is peaceful and tranquil in your lives, hugs if you need them, Lyn xxx.0 -
Good afternoon
We have thunder and lightening and heavy rain. It has gone very dark so I have lit the lavender candles early today. Flora is not impressed with the thunder, so a little reassurance has been needed.
I fell asleep this afternoon because I was up from 5 am this morning. A house alarm had been going off throughout the night, and at 5 am it started again. I heard a male voice shout some expletive, couldn't quite make out what it was, but probably what I was thinking, so I thought I may as well get up. Hence the tiredness this afternoon.
Lainey I hope your Mum is feeling a little better this afternoon and she managed to go to your brother's home.
Take care all and stay safe

Poor FLORA, Docky used to really hate storms and even heavy rain drumming on the roof would start him trying to dig his way out beside the front door, it must be really frightening to only know it is a scary noise and not the cause!
I hope you got your nap this afternoon, Zebra is having his and Lelly has finished making the sock monkey kit I found reduced in a charity shop. Apparently he saw the box yesterday and said' There a monkey in it Lelly?' and she explained that it was all the bits to make a monkey and he said will it be maked tomorrow? so maked tomorrow it is and ready for when he wakes up. Apparently mum and dad slept in until 7.30 this morning and have been DIYing today, they will drive up tomorrow morning and all of them including Lelly will go for lunch and then Lelly will collapse in a heap and have a nap but be very very happy!!!0 -
Hello everyone,
Lovely morning again here, not so hot which is good but sunny and warm all the same.
The farmer turned up early to plough the field next to the house so suspect a winter crop is going in, the sky is full of birds, mostly seagulls but a few brave jackdaws as well.
Have just spoken to darling Mum, she has had a couple of rough days but is feeling slightly better this morning so will ring my brother and say it's ok to pick her up. The family get together for tomorrow is expanding rapidly, will be lovely to see everyone just hope Mum is up to it all, she can always have a lie-down if necessary.
Not loads planned for today, have half an ear on the Archers omnibus and then will get some desserts made for tomorrow.
Had a lovely afternoon with Bill yesterday, not that I have neglected him lately but with everything else my visits have been briefer than normal. So it was the full works with a cool lavendar wash, hibiscrub'd his heels which are itchy from mites and tidied up his mane, he looked gorgeous by the time I finished. Although he's a dark bay he dapples up in the summer, handsome lad
Hope Zebra enjoyed his visit with Lelly Lyn, it certainly seemed like he was having a fab time x
Did you manage a better nights sleep Candlelight, bloomin alarms eh x
Hope everyone is having a good weekend, the year certainly seems to be racing through. I do love Autumn, my favourite season of all.
Much love xx0 -
Hi LAINEY that Zebra has had a whale of a time, Lelly too!!! He's done so much and this morning we got a picture of the painted plant pot and anniversary card he made for mummy and daddy and him swinging wreathed in smiles in Lellys hammock in the garden. He hasn't asked for his mum once, has slept through to 6 both mornings from 8 in the evening and had so much fun. They fitted in everything that was planned including lunch at Prezzo yesterday where he had garlic bread (mine favrit) getti bolnase, an er icy crème and still managed a full supper when the time came. He's discovered the joy of Hock choklit wiv er Marsmalo, and Barny bear cakies Oma! I think it can safely be said that this will be repeated!
Hope Mum IS up to the family gather, she might find it easier if they can find her a quiet corner so she's not in the melee and limit the number of people who want to talk to her at any one time to just a couple with 20 minute breaks and a cold drink/cuppa to give her recovery time. It can be overwhelming if it's constant and she needs to conserve what strength she has doesn't she.
I love the smell and look of freshly ploughed fields, the birds following the plough are an added extra, enjoy, Lyn xxx.0 -
Lyn, Nell and Zebra sound to have had a wonderful weekend. Perhaps you could ask Ruthie if she would consider hiring him out to those of us whose grandchildren are too old for such pleasures.
Now that our three are grown up the pleasures are different and wonderful, but I love to see the the joy on little people's faces when they discover things they like and are new.
Lainey I hope Mum feels well enough for the family gathering. Lyn is right, a little corner where she can hold court but not too many people. I would imagine even talking she will find tiring. It will be lovely for you all to be together, families these days rarely manage it because we all lead such busy lives.
Much love to everyone

Rest assured my friends, my lovely Mum will have shady spot and we will ensure that whilst she gets to speak to everyone she wants she won't be overwhelmed, it is so rare that we all get together nowadays just so looking forward to it.
When all us cousins were little the whole family would meet up for picnics in Hatfield Forest, magical daysall a lot older & greyer now but the magic is still there x

As it should be love, enjoy the magic and the day and make magic happy memories to last you forever xxx.0
