What do you expect Lyn, she comes from good stock.
She is very brave, but she obviously has weighed it up and decided work is best for her at the moment.
I know Lainey has lit a candle for the little one and I also have lit a lavender candle each evening, and the beautiful scent wafts through the house, I think that might mean something - fingers crossed
Much love

We are staying at our holiday rented house at Chale in the south of the Island, very rural and peaceful, even though there is a very pretty church opposite with tolling bells
.DD and boys have gone out in a boat off Yarmouth today sea-fishing.My son-in-law and I are going to check out a pub at Hulverstone at lunchtime that is dog-friendly, and book a table for us all for Thursday night as it will be our last night. The holiday seems to be whizzing by far too quickly At least the weather seems to be brightening up again as we have had a couple of days with a little rain and lots of wind.

Wow, have just done a mega pick in the garden to go to Nell tomorrow as He Who Knows is being a good Dad and going up to tame the conifer hedge at the end of her garden. She has a very large bag of courgettes, a bag of stringless runner beans, a bag of runner beans with strings, a large bag of blackberries, some drop cooking apples from the big old tree, a bag of mixed tomatoes from the greenhouse, some early season onions, a couple of lovely big green peppers from the greenhouse and He Who Knows will pick all the ripe raspberries from the allotment for her this evening. She has many colleagues who will mop up excess amounts that she can't use herself. I bet you anything you like though that when I go up again tomorrow to those blackberries it will look like I haven't picked in weeks!!! I shall pick more tomatoes for my brother tomorrow and then there will be loads to go in the freezer, it's been a very good year despite the weather.0

JackieO, have you been to the Beach Hut Cafe at Bembridge, it's lovely. I know you like your coffee and you get free refills, not as cheap as a flask though, but fantastic location. Went there in June.Carolbee0 -
Oh I am fed up! we booked a table at a pub a couple of miles away for 7 this evening. Got there at 7, drinks ordered, food ordered and at 8 nothing had arrived. They were busy so we asked the waitress who'd taken our order how much longer it would be and she came back 5 minutes later 'ever so sorry but I forgot to give them your order, but I can offer you a free drink' needless to say we declined and said we'll leave the food and go home. Incompetence on every level, and no real apology to go with it, we shan't go there again! He Who Knows has a sandwich and I've gone past food, swizz!!!!!0

Hello all,
It has been a beautiful day, washing is all dried and I am about to bring it in.
Lyn that was dreadful service (or lack of) how disappointing for you both, I know what you mean when you say you are past eating.
Lainey I hope your Mum is enjoying being in her own home. I know sometimes , as much as you love someone, you just want to be in your own home with familiar things around you.
Also there may be things she wants to do. When my Mum was so ill she put all her papers in order, and even wrote me a letter. She had never had to deal with paperwork and paying bills, but Dad showed her what to do when he was ill. It made our life so much easier and I will be forever grateful to her for that. I hope she will want to spend the Bank Holiday with you or your brother .
We are popping in to see my sister and BIL tomorrow, neither of them are very well but they keep going.
Thursday I have a nail appointment in the morning and a hair appointment in the afternoon. I am having the front cut quite short, I am so fed up with it at the moment. The moment it has some length I get this wave in the front and it drives me crazy. Himself had his cut last week, and that will probably last him 8 weeks, I have to have mine cut every 5 weeks.
No medical appointments until after our holiday, yipeeeeeeeeee, I think we might even be on our GPs Christmas card list:)
Jackie, I can't believe your holiday has gone so quickly, but you sound to be having a wonderful time, as you always do.
Stay safe everyone
Much love

Morning everyone,
Wow, it's hot here already, am so so glad that I booked today off as a last minute holiday, the office would not have been a nice place to be in this heat, not that it's great in any weather tbh!
Will spend the day lazing around, re-charging batteries and enjoying my lovely home. I went outside late last night so Tilly could have a wander around the garden and the night sky was so full of stars it was breath taking, just stood and stared.
Ah Candlelight my wise friend, you are so right about my darling Mum needing time in her own home, surrounded by her own things, happy memories as that's where she lived with my Dad. She wants her life to stay as normal as possible for as long as possible, so for her that means her church services, WI meetings, friendship club and time with her friends. She knows she is welcome here whenever she wants but her independence is important to her and I respect that.
Lyn, ditto on the appalling service, hope you will leave a scathing review etc.
Hey Polly, hope you are ok and your DD of course x
Nargleblast - some of my family live in March so know Wisbech well
The whole of that Norfolk coast is beautiful and we take the girls several times a year for beach walks, usually in Spring and Autumn when it's a bit quieter. Have holidayed in Cley, Wells and Walsingham, it's one of the places being considered for retirement plans.
Hugs and love to all, take care xx0 -

Hello all . Lyn I hope you are ok . Hopefully you can smell all the lavender scent wafting your way from various parts of the uk . Is HWK home yet ? It must have been such a let down to have your planned evening out turn out so badly .
Lainey glad you have a chance to rest a little today . I love looking at a starry sky it seems to put things in perspective somewhat . Mum has the right idea , normal when possible is a good way to cope . Thinking of you and hoping the universe will find a way to allow you to leave the job which is having an obvious effect on your wellbeing . Hope Billy E is ok . x
Candlelight Long may himself keep remaining stable health wise . I don't think we'll be getting a Christmas card from the practise although they are lovely, more likely a loyalty card for the round the year two week face to face with the Dr and the regular bloods required by the consultant which doctor has major part of shared care to minimise the effects of travel to the hospital which is in another health area .
SM I have just remembered your present from Mum dilemma . I don't know if she is able to buy her own gifts or someone helps her but I remember in your opening post on this thread you mentioned she had given you a garden journal as a gift , are you a lover of nice stationary ? Is there something along those lines you would want ? A girl can never have too much stationary - like Dorcas in Larkrise it's my one weakness - and like Dorcas I have a number of other " one weaknesses "
A little update dds "invitation " to pip from dla arrived a couple of weeks ago and really triggered her anxiety . We only completed her last dla forms a few months ago so it was a shock to both of us . It took two weeks to calm her enough for me to make the phone call to trigger the claim and I had to really argue to be sent a paper form the complexity of her physical and mental health conditions means it has to be completed in bite size chunks not over the phone in a set time . Now doctor has seen her again he is looking to refer her to a mental health team outside the area as 18 years on and off with local mh has caused lasting trauma .
I hope the weather hasn't kept you all awake I managed to sleep well through a very humid couple of nights . In fact I woke with the sun and my book was next to me in bed don't even recall switching the lamp off .
Lyn If you speak to Fuds can you give her my very best wishes for a good recovery - pace yourself Fuds !
Take care all
polly xIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Hi POLLY He's en route and will hopefully be home by early evening, I so appreciate all the support and candles and prayers being sent this poor little lads way, bless you all, I'm keeping hope alive because of all of you!
Had a message from Fuds this morning just to say they were sending her home and had actually managed a diagnosis of the problems, she sounded so much more chirpy , as she would, she's missed the family and home bless her.
The meal out was just one of those things that happen, I was miffed because they were so flippant about it and just said 'Oh well, it happens' as though that was all that was needed. They've lost us as customers full time which is a shame as it's been better run before Monday evening and I was aware of people all round me sending things back, not getting what they'd ordered and actually being given the wrong dish and asking for a refund. All round chaos and I think it may have new owners who aren't very good at landlordship. Their staff could certainly do with training properly.
We've just had blissful heavy rain which pulled the temperature down by some margin but now it's stopped we're back at 33 again and the humidity is worse than it has been all day, phew!!!
Will definitely pass on your wishes for a speedy recovery next time I talk to her love, Lyn xxx.0
