Hello my lovely friends,
Not long home after dropping Mum back home, she has a couple of plans for this week that she was anxious to keep and several of her friends had phoned to see when she will be home so the plan is that she stays there for most of the week. We stopped at W8trose on the way home & she picked up a few bits, fresh soup etc that she can just heat up if she fancies something to eat but can't face cooking. Her appetite is tiny so quality rather than quantity is good, I made some bite size sausage rolls for her as they are one of the things she fancies.
We had a good morning yesterday, visited a big garden centre and she enjoyed having a good look round but by the afternoon the nausea was back so spent the rest of the day mostly asleep.
It's weird, now that she has gone home, I am completely shattered, think have been running on adrenaline for a few days now so it's just catching up in me. I do intend going into work tomorrow, my OH wants me to just hand my notice in but think will keep powder dry for a little bit longer, that's if my supervisor can keep a civil tongue in her head
Lyn, so pleased to read that things are a little better with Ruthie and also with you, have been in my thoughts a great deal and have been lighting a candle for the little one x
Likewise Polly, glad to read things are a bit easier for you, take care of yourself m'dear x
SM, did you decide on Amazon vouchers in the end?
Candlelight, have a mind that you are having a holiday in Norfolk soon, is that on the coast?
Hope all is well with Hoglet and everyone else, not spending much time online at the moment but try to catch up when I can.
Much love to all,
Lainey x0 -
Life gets heavy sometimes doesn't it pet? but I've noticed that none of us have ever said 'Why me?' but with the total support of all of this much appreciated bunch of friends we all manage to keep our heads just above water while 'life' is happening. It's a privilege, it's a blessing and it's how it should be, thank heavens for 'US' xxx.0

Hi
Amazon vouchers would be great, or any other kind of vouchers however mother simply doesn't "do" vouchers. She's insistent it has to be "something specific" so the dilemma continues. I genuinely have everything I need (and dozens of things I don't) so will have to think hard. A few years back my sister suggested we stopped Christmas gifts so thankfully that is one less occasion to think about. I only have hubby and one aunt to consider which actually makes it quite pleasant.
I'm mid way through making a batch of empire biscuits for the office for tomorrow. I'm thinking red white and blue sprinkles on top to celebrate team GB success in Rio. What an achievement - nice to see what proper funding can do - and a real credit to all involved both in the public eye and the many behind the scenes who contributed greatly.
I have a bit of a round the country week. Due to be in London on Tuesday which I think is forecast to be somewhat hot. Not fun in a suit, high heels and carrying laptop and gear. I struggle so stay looking cool and sleek and it always seems that everyone around me looks groomed to perfection when I'm frazzled and sweaty:o
So I think the biscuits should be sandwiched safely now. Off to make the icing - icing sugar is my nemesis. Horrible stuff it makes such a sticky mess but it has to be done. Enjoy the remains of the weekend.0 -
Morning everyone,
Just catching up and what news to come back to - MLW I'm keeping all of you in my thoughts. xxx
Everything is trucking along here - trying to have a cheap few weeks to rebuild the savings now the girls have gone. We didn't do too badly on that front this weekend - only extra cost to bills, food and petrol was some bait to take fishing yesterday. Nothing bit, of course, but it was nice to get out of the house and into the sunshine, as for once there was some! DH is naturally quite 'sit on the sofa watch tv' sort of guy, but it makes him terribly down, he really does have to get up and do something, even though he thinks he doesn't want to. So I dragged him off to go fishing and then when we were back he trotted off into our little gym (v grand name for a cross trainer and some weights in the garage, but cost a lot less to put together than a gym membership) and I did some kettlebells too. My hamstrings are telling me about it this morning!
We had an extremely early night (on account of a very late one the night before watching the ABs Wallabies match) and I woke up during the night to see all 3 cats fast asleep on our bed. How sweet I thought.... 4am Alfie decides it's ambush time and terrorises the other 2 - he got squirted with water but wasn't detered - he just hid where he knew I couldn't get him. So I got up to feed them which did sort the problem out, but I don't want to be getting into a 4am cat feeding routine!
And now, work time! Got heaps to do for my little business too, so must get on.
Love to you all,
Hoglet xxx0 -
MLW love from across the Solent to you and the family

Good morning all,
Very overcast again here, hoping it will improve.
Dd andDGDsafely home from the big city, evidently the wedding went well but DD was suffering with her knees. So many steps at stations and tube stations and the wedding venue itself had 4 floors so by the time she reached home she was in agony. We picked them up from the station and took her home first. She won't be able to do very much for the next few days.
Lainey I hope your Mum manages to get some appetite back, shr is probably feeling very fragile at the moment. Yes we are off to sunny Norfolk in the middle of September. We go to north Norfolk not far from Hunstanton, so yes near to the coast. We both love North Norfolk and Himself is really looking frward to it. This was the goal he set himself when he was so ill and I have bought him lots of new clothes because everything was too big for him.
Have a good day all, will be back later

candlelight - being born and brought up in Wisbech I know the Hunstanton area a bit. Heacham is not bad, Old Hunstanton is nice, and Holme-next-the-sea used to be a lovely quiet beach, I hope it still is. Enjoy your trip. One life - your life - live it!0

Nargleblast thank you. We are staying at Heacham, in a cottage this time. We have stayed at Heacham Manor Hotel several times, but with Himself having not been well we thought it best to self cater this time. In saying that we hope to eat out as much as possible, but if he has an off day we can stay in the cottage.
We once stayed in a beautiful bungalow in Holt, and a lovely barn conversion at Cley.
We try to meet up with friends we met in Italy many years ago, once a year, and they are having a cottage at Dersingham.
I love Blakeney, and Wells next the Sea, for their quaintness, and Holt for their individual shops, and I love Sandringham (ideas above my station:)).
It isn't a long drive for us, about two and a half hours, and our cottage is almost across the road from the Lavender Centre.
