Evening playmates, we got back about half an hour ago and have just had a chip supper, picked up on the way back to the village. Super few days away and a lovely day today with Ruthie and Zebra, much playing done and much giggling accompanied it! Some results back already and showing nothing untoward for new baby and the rest expected on Thursday next. She ( and I) are still hanging hard onto HOPE!!!0

Hello everyone , It will help mum so much Lainey to have that peace of mind and some control . I agree with Floss it can be a very positive and sometimes happy time in a strange way . My first husband sufferd a severe brain injury on his way home from work and did not recognise any of us for along time and needed reminders each time as his short term memory had gone . However as a steam engine fanatic and a fireman on them he remembered the number of every engine he had ever worked on ! This made us laugh as it was a standing family joke he only proposed to me when steam was finished on BR .
He went on to drive diesels and electrics for many years but had no memory of them so we left him in his steam world which was as it should be .
I have been thinking a lot today about Lyn and her loved ones and hope all is well with them .
I wish you all a peaceful night and a good weekend . We had a wet dull morning today and then quite strong sunshine this afternoon but the season is on the turn now , leaves are crunchy underfoot and the birds are getting ready to fly away - they always do a few practise runs and one day they just form up and go . Autumn and Spring are my favourite seasons although I do love a bit of snow .
Hugs to any who need , Take care

Hi everyone,
MLW - lovely to read that bit of good news - everything crossed for hte next set of results.
Well, I THINK we have turned the corner out of winter. It is noticeably warmer (although don't talk about the rain!) and the mornings and evenings are much lighter. Soon I'll be able to get out on the bike in the evenings again.
We had the rugby referees end of season dinner on Saturday, which is a bit hit or miss. This time it was a big hit so it was a really enjoyable evening. Ended up going to bed ridiculously late and spent all of Sunday exhausted. Went upstairs at 7.30 on Sunday night, and was asleep some time before 9. Ahem cats had a huge fight at 3am so got up to feed them - just easier than listenting to them thunder around under the bed for 3 hours, but at least I got back to sleep again.
I met the new goat yesterday - definitely a lot more sprightly than the last one.
best get onto some work - it never ends!
much love

Hello all
Hoglet We are starting to go into Autumn in my little corner of NW England . Some of the birds are heading to warmer climes and our winter geese are starting to arrive ,just a few at the moment but soon the sky will be full of them . Hope you enjoy the coming of spring and the cats allow you more sleep although going by my cats in the past the lighter the mornings and longer the days the less they want to sleep
Hoping all are well and Laineys mum is ok .
I have had a busy weekend so am planning to sit down and watch Poldark shortly - Is it a bit shallow to admit I am counting down the minutes ?
Take care all

Good morning everyone, we have rain and had rain overnight such a blessing as the gardens really need a good watering, seems to be slowing now though and we're forecast mid 20s for the next few days. I have the joys of a filling at the Dentist this morning, 12 o clock appointment so goodness knows what time I'll actually get back. I am making he Who Knows an emergency sandwich in case I'm late, the dentist never seems to run on time and the bus always seems to get in to the depot late too. No matter, it will be nice to be able to chew on both sides again, this filling has been waiting since April!
Had a lovely walk with Cookie yesterday and the signs of Autumn are really beginning to be noticeable. I can't believe how much leaf drop we've got already, legacy of a very long dry warm period I guess. The treat was finding the first properly ripe conkers under the tree, and the haws on the hawthorns are bright red, so pretty and so many of them. Lots of beech mast too this year and the lime trees are beginning to drop their hard little round fruits too, season of mists and mellow fogginess is about to commence methinks. It still feels odd now that the evenings are beginning to draw in earlier, I've taken to pulling the curtains across so I don't have to see it.
No geese here yet POLLY they come in skeins and overwinter in the river nature areas and marshlands on the other side I love the first honking skeins that arrive heralding their arrival loudly with trumpets! Lots of swallows though lining up on the telephone wires so not long before they go off south for the winter.
Not a lot planned for the rest of the day but hoping my numbness will have worn off enough for me to be able to have some supper, had porridge for breakfast as that lasts very well and I'm not sure I'll get lunch, maybe just a yoghurt as that's soft. Have yourselves a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
I hope all goes well at the dentist Lynn . Thank goodness for porridge , I think it's one of the most useful foods to have . I love proper oat meals in many forms and may have a large store of jumbo oats as it 's a basis for so many things .
The geese overwinter a 10 minute walk from here so we hear them setting off each morning to raid the farmers fields and then flying back late afternoon to settle ( noisily ) for the night . After 40 years of their company I'm very fond of them
Wet overnight here too the rain eased off about midday so it least the garden is being watered . It is getting slightly semi-feral at the moment as I have not really had much time out there for the past month or so . Worst time of the year to not keep on top of it so am welcoming rain to keep the soil workable . Hopefully a few weeks more and I should be getting back into a more normal routine .
I think SM should be starting her holiday about now so sending good wishes for an enjoyable break .
Hope all are well and Laineys mum is coping and the meds are helping with the pain . You probably already know Lainey but nausea is the downside of Morphine but it sounds as though your mum is in good hands and things will be well monitored and dealt with . Enjoy ticking off the days to leaving work and sing born to run in your mind as you work each remaining day !
Take care all

I have a fixed tooth!!! met a lovely new lady dentist who I'd be very happy to see again and she's done a grand job of my filling. I'm half way to coming too from the anaesthetic so my whole jaw feels fizzy, most odd! We've just stacked the load of logs that was delivered this morning and it's made 20 high piled wheel barrowfuls will keep us toasty this winter. I walked into town after the filling and went to Mr.T where they had some nice sized parsnips and nice sized maincrop carrots, also some leeks but they'd not got any that weren't pre packed. They also had no cabbages except the white ones for coleslaw. I know that growers have had problems with a continental moth that was here in massive numbers in the summer and decimated the brassica crop and I hope very much that what I saw was just Monday not having been restocked up and not NO cabbages at all available, time will tell.0

Glad you had a good result at the dentist Lyn . Re the cabbage I wonder if our wee Scottish pal has begun ridding the world of GREEN things
