Candlelight Hello and thank you for reminding me that Lynn and HWK will be off to Germany in the next few days . I hope they both enjoy their trip . It isn't long until you and Himself will be off on your holiday so wishing you all good weather and some memories to come home with .
Middle daughter is tackling the 3 Peaks 24 hour challenge on Saturday , she is tiny but tough so can you all send her some suitable weather vibes ? She will start in Scotland then the Lakes and end in Wales , my mind is boggling at the thought but is a real toughie so I am hoping all will go well .
Lainey I hope mum is comfortable and you are ok yourself . It must be so comforting to know mum had that lovely family day and expressed her wishes - those little boxes will be treasured because the items were her choice . Take care love . x
Candles are still wafting Lavender scents for Lainey , her mum and all the family and Lyns little one .
Love to all

Morning all, the sun has just broken through here too and turned a grey sticky day into a golden day out there, very pretty. We're packing suitcases today and a spare bag to use on Tuesday when we're with Ruthie and Ezra. Heard some geese come in on to the marshes yesterday afternoon when I was in the garden, it was murky so I didn't see them but they fly in V shaped skeins which I so love to see. We have picked all the dry pods off the bean vines to use as dried haricots this coming winter and the bean frames are down and the vines in the compost heap. It makes the plots look smaller and smaller as the vegetation gets taken out but it makes them look tidier too. We've invested in a fruit cage and He Who Knows has lifted some of the turf patch in front of the greenhouse so we can enclose a bigger patch of bed and I won't have to fight the sparrows for the redcurrants next summer. We'll put the cage up when we're home next week. I think we'll invest in some gooseberry bushes to go in it as we think the ones from the allotment were stolen this year, certainly there was a good crop there one evening and 4 berries on the entire set of bushes the next morning and none dropped on the ground, disheartening but not entirely unprecedented in the current economic climate even here in the relatively affluent south.
Meals today to use up things in the fridge so lunch will be poached eggs on avocado with hollandaise sauce and supper tonight will be jacket potatoes with crispy bacon and grated cheese and whatever salading I can find on the plots and I'll restock next week when we're back home.
I must admit to slight misgivings over being in Germany nowadays, sadly, as I adore the place but with the random acts of terror that have taken place and the number of immigrants I wonder how we'll find it even in the sleepy little backwater in Rhineland that we're visiting. We have decided to be as unnoticeable as we can and not advertise the fact that we're English in any way, we will speak German as a matter of course and be very discreet if we communicate with each other in English, other than that and not drawing any notice to ourselves there's not much else we can do except be vigilant.
If I hear from Ruthie before we set off for the airport hotel on Thursday I'll post what we've got, if not I'll let you know on Wednesday when we're back home. Thank you ALL for your ongoing care and support and all the love that's been directed at our family over the past few weeks, it's helped immensely in what is one of the most difficult things we've ever had to deal with. I still have hope until proven otherwise, Lyn xxx.
Feeling very jittery today as tomorrow we ought to get the rest of the results about new baby and I don't want to think ahead on that so am keeping very busy and filling time as much as I can.0 -
Polly, that is quite a journey your DD is making. Sending positive vibes for dry weather if nothing else, it would be horrible if they were all soaking wet. I hope the sun shines on them at some point, and good luck to them all

Lyn There is masses of hope , love and good karma on the threads for your little one remind yourself of Pandora - there is always hope .
I understand it is not a good time to be going away but maybe you will have good news tomorrow . Don't stop believing xxx
Regarding German trip may I remind you of our late lamented thread ,
you are a prepper we all saw GQs opsec posts . You are fortunate to speak the language and have lived there , you are having a wobble love which is not unexpected considering the stress you are under . Give it all to God and the universe . You will be your usual down to earth sensible selves in Germany - it's second nature to you both . The other biggie none of you have any control over so trust and hope are all you have which is better than nothing at all.
We are all with you so have as many hugs as you like . Go and sit in the sun and just be .
Love polly and katie xxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Good evening everyone,
Just finished a late supper, meals have been strange and sporadic over the last few days so it was good to taste fresh veg etc
Spent all afternoon with darling Mum and it was good to see her looking so bright. I picked up a couple of cotton nighties from Mr Sparks this morning, she usually wears PJ's but they are far too hot for hospital and not exactly practical with the bag etc. Also went over to the bungalow and tidied up her fridge, picked up some more toiletries etc and a couple of bits she wanted.
We had another visit from the palliative nurse who is a real sweetie and was most helpful in starting to get arrangements in place hopefully for when Mum goes home. My brother was there as well and, as always, there was plenty of little jokes, laughing and teasing which made Mum's eyes twinkle
Lyn, doubt if you will see this by now but in case you do so hope that you and HWK enjoy your Germany break, you are a canny pair so will be fine. Sending much love and positive thoughts for your family X
Wow Polly, your DD is certainly going for it, have previously done the three peaks but one at a time, she's a tough little cookie for sure X
Candlelight, you are so right, I am very tired but hope to sleep better tonight X
As always your love and support mean so much, thank you my friends xx0 -
LAINEY if mum hears German being muttered tell her not to worry it's just us thinking happy thoughts her way from the Rhineland Palatinate! Sleep well small one, glad, so glad for you all that Mum is comfy and able to giggle xxx.0

Lainey, thank you for the update, you know what they say, laughter is the best medicine.
Thankfully your Mum is more comfortable and that is the main thing.
Love and hugs to you all

Lainey you must be so happy mum can raise a giggle , You sound such a caring loving family and I hope mum can be back home again soon . It sounds as though she is in the best of hands in every way . Bless the nhs - they are in my candle too, we are so lucky to have them .
Lyn Safe journey I really wish you and HWK a good long awaited break together although I wouldn't be surprised if you don't feel an occasional nudge at your heels as dear docky straightens his no doubt rather battered halo - you didn't think he'd stay behind did you ?
Thanks Candlelight for your positive vibes for no2 daughter . I still can't fathom the logistics of it ! We met up with her yesterday and she's raring to go. I will be ok when it's over :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Thanks to all who post and read and wishing all a peaceful night .
We reached the mid twenties today and it's still humid . Rain is forecast later for a few hours so hopefully it may cool down .
Night all

I've just had a phone call from Ruthie who is just on her way back home from work (she starts her first surgery at 8 in the morning) and I'm the happiest Oma on the planet, she's had all the results back and we're going to have a new Babbit to love in January who has no other problems of any kind, we're soooooooo happy and relieved and grateful, we'll ALL sleep tonight.
Thank you, each one of you for being so kind, so supportive for being nice to me, for sending me all the love and messages of caring and just being there for me and listening, specially when you've been going through your own problems too, what we have as friendship doesn't have a value that can be measured in terms of material things but I know what we have is worth the earth, moon and stars together and so much more. You are collectively one of the best parts of my life and I'm so very grateful that you are, bless all of you, Love and so much of it Lyn xxx.0
