Elona, the bed linen sounds lovely. I adore poppies and friends tend to buy me birthday cards with poppies on.
I have a feeling welsh poppies are blue, but I could be wrong.
I am afraid bed linen and towels are my weakness. I worked with someone who only had 1 duvet cover and it was washed and put back on the bed the same day. It wasn't that she couldn't afford another one, she didn't see any reason why she would need more than one I like to ring the changes, and I am loving my grey and heather colours.
I can remember when you had to get the super king mattress upstairs in your old home, this one sounds a little smaller, but they don't bend well do they?

Evening all.
Welcome to our new friends. :hello:
It's been a busy weekend here. Constant rain but warm with it -I swear I see weeds growing in front of me.
We had a birthday party to attend on Saturday evening which I wasnt too enthusiastic about however we met some people we hadn't seen in years so it was good to catch up. We weren't home until almost midnight though and I yawned my head off yesterday. What a lightweight I am nowadays
I currently have a batch of blackcurrant jam in the bread maker. I haven't added pectin or any lemon juice this time as my previous batches were somewhat "firm" so I'll take the risk and if it's runny I'll claim it to be compote:)
I also have 2lbs of gooseberries which hubby picked before I got home. I may freeze them though as we stil have gooseberry jam from last year. He tells me I will have to pick the red currants tomorrow as the blackbirds are feasting on them. I must find a recipe for red currant jam in bread maker. My mother used to make red currant jelly but I remember all the faffing around straining it through muslin and jelly pans over the bath tied to a home made truss thing - I'll stick to jam, no straining required.
One of the positives of all the rain though was watching the same little blackbirds descend upon the grass when the rain stopped and run around with beaks crammed full of worms. It's amazing how quickly they gather them up.
No more ice cream or sorbet made over the weekend. I had a baking frenzy - that's what I do when I'm annoyed at the weather. My sister and her partner were at my parents so for Saturday lunch (which is normally just soup and a roll) I made cheese straws, sausage plait, buttermilk scones and empire biscuits. Far too much and everyone was utterly stuffed - nobody will ever starve to death on my watch:o
I had a day off today so had a Costco trip -mainly to have my eyes tested as I find myself peering at things and wandering under lights to get a better look. It seems to have happened overnight although I'm sure it's been gradual and I'm also sure it's just my age although the optometrist in Costco was far too polite to say so. She has ordered me some contact lenses and I'm due to go back to try them. I have one perfect eye and I've no idea if that means I just need one contact lens or not - seems silly to have a lens in the eye with 20:20 vision. i don't like this getting older nonsense - in my mind I'm still about 24 - I so wish my body would reflect that too:D
I was very well behaved in Costco -only essentials such as loo roll, dishwasher tablets, fat balls for the birds and eggs. i didn't even venture into the aisles where I didn't need to go. Far too tempting if I do.
So, off to water my tomatoes now. My greenhouse is the only area of the garden that's not squelching I think!0 -
Phew!! Its hot already. The local weather is forecasting possibly up to 35c today!!! We are ginger, we cant cope!! Lol!!
Must think how to keep Judy cool.
I'm not complaining about the sunshine its beautiful. But this heat is doing me in. We are both plastered in sun cream.and 10 mins after you have had a shower you want another.
Son is doing ok. Had his school report yesterday, while most of it is gibberish regarding government targets, he is meeting expected targets and exceeding them in maths.
Phew I'm so hot ill come back when my brain isn't fried and post again.
They give thunder for tomorrow whilst it will break the heat, I'm terrified of it. Lightning struck our house as a child and I've been scared to death of it ever since.

Hi everyone,
I'm baaaaaaaack!!!!
We had a lovely break in Australia with my step kids and niece. The weather was warmer than here but we had quite a bit of rain. The last day was gorgeous tho - of course! We had a great apartment right on the beach, lay in bed at night listening to the sound of the waves. We did a couple of theme parks, a koala sanctuary and saw the local area.
Back to work this morning, looking forward to it like a hole in the head.
Lainey - hope your mum is on the mend soon.
Candlelight - all the very best for the med appointments.
Better dash,
lots of love,

Morning everyone.
Hope you ate all ok. Much cooler night last night, so slept sooo much better. I've a very full day ahead, but hopefully the cooler weather will help me stay motivated
Son breaks up tomorrow. I honestly cant wait ! I've booked him in for a couple days at the local leisure centre activity days, a couple of things at the library and we have signed up for the reading challenge. He already has an unlimited swimming ticket along with his lessons, but I shall just get myself a monthly pass, so if nothing else we can swim a lot!! Fingers crossed for beach weather as that means free days out.
He wants to go to my mums this weekend so at least ill be able to catch up with work then, without boring him to death!! Lol!!
Hope you all have lovely days.
Up and at 'em;)

scottishminnie My late Mum was a 'weedgie' and my Pa came from Brechin he used to say the only difference between summer and winter in Brechin was the rain was warmer in the summer
I myself am off up there for a long weekend in September as my cousins from Australia and Winnipeg are over visiting.Hopefully it will be a warm rain
So warm and humid at the moment and my youngest DGS has just offered to hoover the sitting room for me 'result' bless him he said its too hot to play in the garden even. Maybe a bit of rain will freshen the air up a bit.0 -
Just a quick one from me . I will be back . Keyboard malfunction . Some letters and punctuation non- functional . Difficult to post sensibly .
